Absolutely adore mine. Your videos convinced me a year ago to do my CBT and buy a Grom. No regrets. The seat is bearable, the left fairing with the broken clip is slightly irritating, the 12" wheels in sump lines on dual carriageways is hateful. Paying under £5 for 120 miles is bloody lovely.

I remember walking the streets of London and there you was at the lights with the Grom, didn't realise it was you at first! The bike looks and sounds nice.

You could be right with the vibrations from the exhaust. I got a grom and before i changed exhaust from stock, to a full yoshimura titanum system, it was smooth. With the yoshi on it vibrates just like you say :) King regards, Some danish rider ;)

So I had the same problem on my Honda 125CBR 2005. I took the seat apart and found out they use a very tough foam. So I bought a more soft foam from Dunelm and then used spray adhesive straight into the seat base and carved it back. Covered it with faux leather from hobby craft and now it is perfect. Love the vids, inspired me to start biking :)

I adore mine as well RJ and I too experienced the numb ass. I think the seat is too firm and cheap. my Grom is stock with the exception of the Fender Eliminator kit and Maxxis knobby Tyres... ( this bike performs just as well off road as it does on). :) many thanks to you, sir for what you do. you have a friend here in the United States if you ever happen to travel across the pond. The Blue Ridge Parkway is less than 1 mile from my house and it's an excellent place to ride, being 40+ years old... it suits me and my Grom. Please, keep up the good work.

I have an msx125, don't get any weird vibrations, I have a cheap full after market Black Widow exhaust system, sounds as good as any other for a fraction of the price and made in UK. I've ridden mine for about 3 hours before with the only complaint being the straps on my backpack making my shoulders ache, so not really the bikes fault.

My MSX125 gets a bit hard on the seat too after a few miles and I still have the stock exhaust system on it. I usually just stand up on it for a few seconds on the straights and move around on the seat a little lol. I've seen a LOT of after market seats though for around or below the £100 mark so it could be a simple fix!

+Herdannu Febrian but its mostly not for safe its because in finland driving licenses are so fucking expensive and you have to be 15 years old for 50cc to get license, 16 to get 125cc license or have to be 18 to get license for like up to 500cc then you have to get better license to get higher than 500cc and 50cc license costs about 550€ 125cc license costs like 1000€(atleast im not sure i dont have 125) and that up to 500cc costs maybe like 1500€ or more
@MagirusLP8 жыл бұрын
+Atte Liikanen That's less expensive than here in germany. I paid ~1500 Euros for my A1 license (125cc) and the B license (Car) costs like up to 1800 Euros. That's insane

Once in awhile I ride 100 miles round trips on my grom, and that's usually is about 3-4 hours. My hands, my ass, my feet all get numb, and usually the withdrawal symptoms last until the next day. Something about the horizontal engine mount that gives off this insane vibration. Hopefully someone designs rubber engine mounts.

I did to-up about 100ml oil for a month time, but I have Yuminashi 6-HOLES LIGHT-BORE INJECTOR, full Akrapovich T+carbon, K n N air filter mash. about a seat it's terrible! I'm looking a way to compensate discomfort, have couple ways/ideas, 1st - turn to lads who refurbish old seats, ask em change foam for better and thicker. 2nd - silicone/gel layer, DIY or with professional fitter. Not done yet with seat so far but this stock seat disaster! Thailand offers no reviews - no purchases, sellers at ebay in purposes give 0 info as therms ebay buy as seen. DIY silicone/gel at UK seen one place selling layers DEBBONAIR custom gel pads called, they have phone to call. I don't have time till Jan-Feb so I cannot move forward...

It does depend on what you enjoy about riding but basically: It feels very fast because it's small, and you spend a lot of time at high RPMs which makes the sound pretty nice and also it's a novelty - tiny bike, very convenient, plenty of speed in urban areas.

don't even think about it if you and your friends are not thin as straws, even then the person behind you is not gonna want to sit there longer than 10 minutes. But if you squeeze one sitting on your lap backwards and one person behind you, you can ride short distances with 3 peeps

RJ said before: "There is no good or bad starter bike, the only thing that matters is the connection between your wrist and brain."
@Wunel8 жыл бұрын
What Ed van Andel said is true. However, to answer your question, yes it would be a great first bike. It's cheap to buy, cheap to run, easy to move around by yourself, not too much power in case you make a mistake. Overall, great first bike choice. The only issue is that because it is so small, only a 125, you may want to buy a bigger bike fairly soon and so have to sell the Grom and buy another which is a little inconvenient and also means spending more money.
