The 200 series land cruiser is the Lionel Messi of vehicle. It may sound cheesy but I will say it. It’s the greatest vehicle ever made. V8 an engine that last for 400,000 miles extremely luxurious, the most dependable, reliable hand built car ever made. It’s enormous seats eight has incredible off-road capabilities and will last for 25 years. Again the Lionel Messi vehicles.

The only other “hate” would be the AC controls that are part of the touch screen. Much prefer dials. Otherwise the LC200 is brilliant…love it

I bought my 2014 200 series about 2.5 years ago. It was a soccer mom/grocery getter with 117k US hwy miles. I baselined the truck and built it up for overlanding and rock crawling. It is a beast and I love it. I will never sell the rig.

Love your video,l agree with you best looking design ever,l started with a Hilux in the 80’s & am on my 4th Landcruiser now.l started with an 80 series then 2 x 100’s & now the 200 series.l’ve taken the 300 for a couple of test drives,l like the internal layout dash & driver position.lts getting good reviews with the V6 & 10 speed box but early days yet.Externally hate the look of the front end design the way the venting is situated,lights & daytime running light fine.Side profile the guards around the wheel arch ,looks like it’s been driven through a tight lane way & squashed all the guards flat.The rear,come on Toyota what were you thinking no split tail gate,& this is why l love my 200 series Great design & even Better Landcruiser.

Fun video! I also moved from a J120 Prado (in a high petrol cost country) to a LC 200 full fat Landcruiser (in a low petrol cost country. The LC200 renders my old Gwagon old S-class Mercedes redundant. LC200 out aces them in every way.

Have a 2019 200 series Sahara and bought in July 2023 to tow a caravan full time.October first injector blown and now up to 4 injectors gone today yet Toyota will replace one at a time under warranty and now it is out of warranty.Last one took 7 weeks to replace and after fixed came back worse shape in power.Had a tune so they pass the buck saying it was the software installed.Tune people after half hour found crack in intercooler plus rat had chewed on hose and wires yet they could not find or fix.Still waiting to get mechanical again

Cheers for this vid mate. I currently drive a 120 and love her. The only car I've owned longer then 5years. Unfortunately im moving from Belgium to Slovenia and due to the rules here I cant get my car to pass the technical due to the mods. Therefor I will sell here but dont find another car to my taste as the prado hits th sweet spot between, luxury, comfort and off-road capability and its so reliable car. Looking now to go for a 200 as I need space for a 15y old kit,the wife and 2 dogs. We tour for 3 months per year,would love to make a test drive with a 200 but affraid for my wallet 😂 thanks again,good vid. Greetings from Slovenia

Thanks for your comment! The 120 series I think will always be a special car for many. The step up to a 200 series is so worth it though, if you can overcome the initial buy price. Fuel economy is better and parts aren't too much more expensive for maintenance. The luxury, comfort and power are big draw cards too!
@peterj5751Ай бұрын
Good video but you missed my biggest hate, the gearbox. It’s 2 decades out of date in design and is tuned terribly. For a start stubbornly resists going into sixth under about 120km/h which is a major issue in a country where speed limits are 110km/h or less. The torque converter is so loose it is one step off a high stall and the computer hates to lock it up. Its ‘s as if they set it up for a smaller high revving petrol engine and then stuffed it behind the V8 turbo diesel. The result of all of this is that it wastes half the power made by the engine (I am exaggerating) creating gearbox temperature rather than driving the car forward. Reprogramming the gearbox tune will save at least 1 litre per 100kms and make the car nicer to drive but the real question is how and why Toyota made it this way to start with and why they never addressed it in 14 years of production. I can’t help to wonder what it would have been like if they fitted the 10 speed in the 300 series to the V8 in the 200 series.
@offroadcrusaderАй бұрын
Yeah, it's frustrating that they haven't updated the gearbox, I wonder what it would be like with the newer transmission?

@offroadcrusader8 ай бұрын
Hey there, The Nitto tyres are probably my number one pick right now. Very durable, no chipping, last a long time regardless of punishment, and not that expensive. Maxxis are good, but mine wore really fast. Falken Wildpeak or the Bridgestone Dueler D697s are good too.

@offroadcrusader7 ай бұрын
Hi mate, thanks for the comment! The scrub bars are from ARB, but if you mean the graphics panels on the side of the car, they are from Bushbarrier 4x4. They are large magnetic panels that stick to the side of the car, and you can get a variety of different designs printed on them.

Nice video! You are spot on when you mention the look of it, I like the 200 so much I get exited every time I see one on the road!!!😊 Personally I prefer my GX model barn doors for the cargo area easier accessibility but that’s me. Also I intentionally declined the Toyota offer for 2016 face lift in favour of the 2015 non PDF model 😏 Seriously this cars are absolutely fantastic and very hard to match even by their successor the 300!

Seriously I drove them up North for work on mine sites they are a shit boxes. You are definitely right on fuel they are shit I was putting a 135 litres a night in it and driving it around the mine site I also blew 2 diffs towing lighting plants and they are the most basic interiors and uncomfortable seats and also you forgot to tell everyone that the payload on the car is only done with 10 litres of fuel in the vehicle it actually says it in the manual that is why they recommend that GVM upgrade on the 200 series straight away. Seriously if you look at all your dislikes about it they are major issues and they are fuel guzzlers so seriously I don't know why you would even buy it because there are other 4 wheel drives out there that run rings around Toyotas.
