Bikers like you got me thinking about possibly getting a bike. Haha but not in the near future something for a little later in my life. Riding just seems liberating. And relaxing. Right now I don’t ride but I drive. KZbin introduced me to several biking channels and I’ve just been seeing different perspectives. You all seem to be a lot of fun! And gave me a different view on motorcyclists. Still doesn’t stop giving me a mini hard attack every time a biker appears out of nowhere on the highway and zooms by me like a lighting flash vrooooommm and they are gone. Hahaha. But I’m starting to get it a bit. It’s all in the fun of riding a bike! Keep on riding! And having fun! 👍

So where do we buy the Motivational Tapes..... lmao, you do have some, don't cha? Give it time, you will & it's like a destiny thing? Ride Defensively ! You are the only one who can save your own arse & most accidents are caused by going way too fast for the conditions. EXpect cars to pull out from everywhere & they can't see you. Even when they do see you they can't know just how fast you're coming at them. Your acceleration might be fun but a car looks & sees you, they turn & look down the other way & as they pull out Ka-BOOM ; You are at their car! Cars can't understand how fast you can accelerate meaning they don't understand a bike going from 0-100mph in less than 6 seconds. Or from 20-60mph in 2-3 seconds which is the reason for many crashes. Another thing, being right isn't enough for the Rider b/c you can easily be, Dead Right ! Being dead right is no way to live so take control & slow down. Over 90% of wrecks can be avoided by riding defensively so be aware that your life is in your hands..... idiots in cars is getting worse so don't play stupid game & win stupid prizes.... Don't be that guy/gal...... Anyhoo, I'm looking to ride again for the 1st time in over 30 yrs.... thanks for the video. GB

"If you want to stop the bike, just pull in the clutch"? That's bad advice. You lose the ability to engine brake and stability due to the engine's dropping RPMs. How about progressive braking and downshifting? Also, please wear some gear.
@motolexi
@motolexi 3 ай бұрын
@@larrybaltz4873 yes these are great points!! i should’ve specified in the video i meant more for that slow around the parking lot practice when you’re first starting out. I think a lot of people start out kind of clutch then braking then get into downshifting. But i apologize i should’ve specified that! i still agree with your points :)

You gotta learn to go slow to be fast then slow maneuvers build confidence in the corners something I never really practiced on my first go at motorcycle
@3GingerCats
@3GingerCats 3 ай бұрын
Taking a class is not... Totally! it teaches you what to practice, But there's only one way to practice. I just threw myself i the deep end, I've been driving my car on these roads for decades. yes there was the fear, of what I have seen, the way people drive (and having recently done the theory test all over again to get my Bike learners) realise that MANY people who are driving around here have NEVER done a driving test in this country. and don't know our rules. and being so vulnerable on a bike... Yeah I was shitting myself when I took it out onto the Motorway! but after spending 6 hours on the only fine Saturday we will get for the next 2 months, Riding the places other Motorcyclists like to ride, getting waved at 1000 times by people I have never met. Learning things I could never learn within the city limits... There's thing they teach you to learn, and there's thing you have to discover... like when leaning in, what feels good, isn't perfect, the front wheel doesn't magically go where it needs to go, you have to push back a little on the low side bar, it's not about pulling towards you, it's quite the opposite! the Braking distance is not what it looks like from inside the cockpit of a car! just because the wind keeps pushing you from one side, doesn't mean it won't push you from the other side... It comes from everywhere all at once! & it makes the eyes rattle inside their sockets, it pushes the head around in all sorts of funny ways... If you have a chin mount camera... the wind tried to blow your head around in circles (I had that on because I wanted to make sure the top box I wanted would fit the helmet with the Camera attached!) The freezing fingers, I was already used to, the freezing knees down I was used to, the pain in the quads when I tried to stand towards the end of the 6 hours? WTF? that's new! People saying what you should ride... those people would tell me to get something that I cannot physically fit. like a GSX250. or a Ninja 300, an R3 etc... I'm too tall, I cannot ride anything that makes me sit in a Kneeling position... making the use of my feet impossible! That's why I brought a V-strom 250SX, I fit it! It has potential to do anything I might like to try. and of the bikes I felt comfortable on, it was the best price for a Brand-New bike. (of a trustworthy brand) It met the criteria for the licence. and it can do a 6 hour long trip into the middle of nowhere quite happily, and as I now know, it can do it using 2.9litres every 100km... that's 3 quarts for 62miles, and that is as far as I'm doing the math! Don't listen to Haters... educate them with a heavy object! oh wait, no don't say that, just think it! More control... Over the clutch?, No, That's my biggest weakness. I drive RHD cars, and many many manual ones, the left hand works the gear lever, the left foot works the clutch... switching those around causes issues... with timing! the other issue, not so much in the twisties as it's just going from one side to the other, getting something that want's to stay vertical and straight for eternity to even just start to lean into a corner so you can begin turning, at low speed, that's easy, but at high speeds... it just wants to go straight! and you have to MAKE it lean in order to turn! Ride your own ride, well I was doing that yesterday... and out of nowhere a Tesla overtook me on a blind corner and basted past me at a great rate of knots. I asked myself if I was going too slow and not looking in my mirrors enough??? Nope he was crazy, and I saw him nearly hit another car he was overtaking... I had caught up to a car, so I wasn't going that slow, and wasn't holding anyone up, in fact I ended up at the back of a queue of cars that were holding me up. I felt good about that! although I was really hoping the Tesla would have crashed so I could tell him he deserved that and then carry on!, leaving him there to ponder what he did to himself by being such a dickhead If you want a lower cc bike that's fine, the limitations of top speed are the only problem, but not that big of a problem... not if it still keeps up with traffic and doesn't make you a sitting duck. If you want a larger cc bike. be mindful that the added inertia is going to be harder to control than a 250 or 300, it may be easier to get off the line, but once you are moving it's not as easy as a smaller bike!
