I know it's your body, your choice and all that shit but you should really consider wearing proper gear. I know it's hot but they make summer gear and they do make gear for women. You can still look cute wearing full gear. It's better to sweat than bleed

The only reason people choose not to wear gear is because they have not crashed yet. That usually corrects the issue.

Sometimes it’s just too hot (never too hot technically) but the problem is some people that don’t wear gear are delusional or think shit won’t happen. I chose not to wear a jacket sometimes on hot days but if I go down on that day I will only blame myself for the injuries lol

I knew a woman that rode in booty shorts, and cami tops, never wore gear. When she blew her front tire she crashed, and tumbled over 100 yards peeling skin off her body. Her wounds were so extensive she died on day 2 in the hospital. The second woman I knew rode a Harley a nurse never wore gear died on her motorcycle upon impact no helmet. What you said about group settings and performance is so relatable to me. I really would like to learn, but the main thing stopping me is having to learn as a group, and as a girl i think it would be worse because I would really stand out. Hi. I started riding just on a whim after my life took a nosedive a few years back. I’m now a sponsored track rider in the small cc segment and halfway decent I’d like to think. To answer a few things for new riders. 1: Please start small. It’s still insanely fast I promise. Anyone who doesn’t want you on something more manageable isn’t worth spending your time on. 2: don’t do what I do. I ride like an absolute maniac, I started by doing the same things and finding out the hard way, but I wasn’t concerned about my own safety, don’t be like me. Behave on the road. Please. 3: gear is definitely smart. But the smartest is just not riding. So wear what you feel most comfortable riding in, but please wear a helmet at least. You never know. For the gals specifically, please please please don’t hang out with the guys (and some other gals) that are willing to push you beyond the limits just for their own personal preferences when riding together. Ride your own ride is said constantly and it’s true. Don’t push yourself until you are ready too, skills will come as you earn experience at your own pace. Just don’t let anyone else dictate the rate you learn.

Tips For Getting Into MOTORCYCLES!... Wear your gear. Don't ride just to look "cute" or "being goofy".. It's a serious thing to get into just from risk-reward. Same is for guys, Wear your god damn gear and don't ride because you wanna look cool or be this "hot motorcycle dude". It's cringe as hell. moved in with my dad recently. he got me into bikes and i took the safety course. i passed thankfully and then got to looking at bikes. we originally went to the dealer ship but ended up getting a used bike off craigslist instead. im 5 ft and can flat foot my bike which is a 1200 harley sportster low. i did have to get it lowered a bit more and change the seat to a smaller one but it works. i was originally going to start off with a lower cc but my dad convinced me with this one because and i quote "you will get bored of it after a month." And he was right, i have the zoomies. glad i got it and shorties can infact ride. maybe just dont start on 1200 if your nervous. or do, just be careful you can still go slow on a bigger bike. you dont gotta go from 10-40mph in 2 seconds lol. my dad is more experienced than me (obviously) and he was very clear that he wanted me to get either a harley davidson, triumph or bmw. i will mention that if you are new to riding like i am, PLEASE TRY TO GET A BIKE YOU CAN FLAT FOOT OR LOOK INTO GETTING YOUR BIKE LOWERED IF YOU CANT. it made a complete difference in my riding in one day by just being able to support myself properly on my bike. stalling a bike on your tippy toes is very hard to balance though that may just be because my bike is so heavy (500 pounds). and being able to have your feet touch the ground can help you become confident when driving slow. even in the msf course, they made sure to change out the seat to make sure i can flat foot because it really does give you a confidence boost. and when your starting out i would look to see if its possible to get a engine guard added as well so that should you drop the bike (please dont do this. its fine if you do but dont do it. it makes the bike sad) then its protected. speaking of protection. good helmet, leather jacket, gloves and boots. the helmet should cost between $90-$200 where as the jacket will cost around 400+. its a lot but will save you from severe injuries should anything happen whilst your out riding. i dont wear my jacket as often as i should but i always leave the house with gloves, helmet, jeans, and boots. if im going out in an area i dont know or just going on a long trip then i always bring my jacket. another thing to note and you will hear in the course, treat the road as if no one sees you. even if a driver is waving. they cant see you. people have the attention spans of goldfish :) look at their front tires and scan far ahead so you know whats going on around you. always try to keep track of everyone around you and keep yourself in a position so the drivers can see you. go a bit faster than traffic on the highway. its safer for you. you want to protect yourself. a car is fine if they hit you. you are not. start out in parking lots and work your way up from there. my dad had me go to a park and go in circles and then eventually nudged me onto the road and then highway once he believed i was ready. nothing wrong with taking things slow. just stay safe out there. next step for me is finding people to ride with atm

@@neji4842 don’t be ashamed. Doing anything slow with a bike is the hard part of day to day riding, on or off the bike. And that’s how we learn. Only way you’ll get more comfortable is to get back on that horse and get more practice. A beautiful bike sitting in a garage won’t do you any favors, a dinged up bike you ride will. You build a connection with it, and if you ever sell it, it’ll make a worry free starter bike for someone else who won’t have to worry so much about being precious with it. But I do get it. No one wants their new bike beat up. As for advice about the weight, when you’re moving it around off the bike, first practice just holding the bike balanced straight up and down. Then practice moving around the bike holding it as gently as you can in different spots as you do. Once you’re comfortable with how it balances, and you’re trying to walk it somewhere, lean your hip into the seat and let the bike lean slightly against you so you’re supporting it a bit and it won’t fall away from you. Then just take it slow and gentle. Every movement of the bike at any speed and in any situation is about being smooth and controlled with it. Stay calm, trust the bike and trust yourself. You can do it!

i’m currently 11 (turning 12 end of this year!) but have always had an interest in bikes, my mom has always said that they are death machines and to never get one, and i’ve always said that i won’t because i don’t even like them and i understand that they are prone to accidents, but little does she know that i’ve always wanted to ride one. i can’t get into dirt bikes currently because i have loose joints, a dislocating knee, and some other stuff (due to past incidents, and just birth effects) but i’ve seen so many crashes first hand or just on video, that there’s no way that if i get a bike, i’m wearing them without gear, every time i’ll wear gear, even if it’s for a 6 minute ride, if i don’t like my gear, i’ll put like some clothes on top of it, but i’m not riding without any gear. my uncles friends were out riding, 2 of them were wearing gear, while the other one was not, they got in a crash from a drunk driver, both the friends who were wearing gear survived, with injuries obviously, but they survived, but the guy who wasn’t, didn’t survive. gear can save your life and i know this from rock climbing, there was a time where my brothers friend forgot his gear (this was an indoor facility with mats underneath so he was fine but still, imagine if it wasn’t) and he thought it was fine, he went for a decently hard climb and ended up falling and almost landed on his neck. i just realized that my entire comment is basically about gear but i don’t rlly care so i’m not gonna delete it lol but anyway, any tips for an 11 year old to first get started into riding??

good choice upgrading to the RE 650. While the Grom looks like fun, i think it actually puts you on the road in positions that can be dangerous: reduced visibility, lack of acceleration and small wheels that give a harsh ride. Vehicular traffic doesn't take the bike seriously and treats you accordingly. Here in CA the otd price can approach $4500. You can easily purchase a proper 500-650 new for not a-lot more, used the choices are wide open. A left-over 2023 RE 650 can be had for $5000 before bargaining. the Grom makes for a fun "toy", but at the price required for entry it doesn't make sense to buy as a "starter bike". i really think other than the weight of a full size bike, it is actually easier to ride than a "mini-moto". I went from a Honda PCX150 to a Ninja 650 and in hindsight i wished i would have just started on the 650. While the PCX got me on the road and taught me how to ride with traffic, it could never hang on PCH or the freeway here in CA. The 650 is just a better overall experience and I find the ride smoother and more controllable. I never have felt that the increased power has been an issue. Other bikers actually wave to me now(!) and feel way more part of the motorcycle scene. Anybody thinking about getting into motorcycling don't hesitate buying a "real" motorcycle. There is no shame in the Honda Rebel 500. OK, remember: safety third!

How to ride a bike as a short person... learn how to hang your butt off the side to touch the ground 🙂. I actually like lowered bikes better, but can ride taller ones if I need. A lowered bike doesn't matter at all unless you are going to the track. People have all types of rules made up in their heads and what is right and wrong, and a lot of people, especially online, love to inform you all about them. Late to this video, but, I’m a 13 year old girl. I’ve been into bikes since November of last year whenever I saw a couple of bikers (If you are reading this, I’m sorry for the long paragraph). And I kind of want some tips, because when I’m 16, I want to ride a motorcycle. I’ve heard some people say that you have to get permission from your principal to get your license and all that. I don’t know if it is true. But what I really want to know what is the best beginner bike, what cc bike should I get, etc. Me living in Tennessee, I’ve experienced a lot of sexism, so I don’t know how the men would react to me being in a class. I was bullied all throughout elementary school which sparked my fear of people judging me. Of course, I know all men aren’t like that. I really just want tips on how I should start, trustable sources to learn how to ride, learn each part of the bike, where and what gear to buy, etc. I don’t know anybody in my life who rides, or is going to teach me. I know my grandma used to ride a Harley, but I aren’t really interested in them. I’m really close with her, but I don’t want to mention my life for motorcycles to my family if you know what I mean. So if anybody has any tips, please tell me. Thanks for reading all of this (if you did)!! Extra: My 8th teacher was talking about how after high school you enter adult life. Which has me thinking, what kind of job do I want, or if I do get a bike, how will be able to afford it? Anybody else who has gone through a financial struggle and has a bike, how were you able to afford the bike(s), gear, just anything in general. Because becoming an adult, or becoming older just scares me and general. And I’m like “what if I become homeless?” and such not. When I enter adulthood, what is the first thing I should do? Should I go to college, should I get a job and hope for the best? What should I do?

How long did it take you to go from practicing in the parking lot to the roads? I've been practicing in the parking lot for a couple of weeks and I still don't feel ready 😭 but a lot of my peers were ready to go on the road after a day
@AyaWetts

I spent over a month practicing, and when I hit the roads it was just around neighborhoods at first. First time in traffic was scary even though I thought I was ready. Go at your own pace and don't let anyone rush you.

MSF courses in PA are free?! 🥲 they're $500 in CA lolololol and I definitely agree, the classes are great but they're only a start. Passing the class doesn't mean you know how to ride, but actually practicing riding is where the real learning happens, especially when graduating from a parking lot to the street. Great video, Lexi! One thing I really like about your channel (and I try to do the same) is that you take the time to reply to almost every comment. I think that's awesome and really promotes engagement!

@@itsmissy_xo omg the graduation period is so NERVE WRACKING but once you finally start to feel comfortable best feeling ever! there are a few states it’s free and PA is one of them crazy how much in Cali but i think it’s worth it :). And aweeee thank you so much i really appreciate that i do really try to make sure im acknowledging everyone who takes time to comment it really means a lot to me :) so thank you for your comment 💞
