Good advice on the monocular. If you get one with a rangefinder, you don’t have to carry one on your weapon.

I’ve been looking for a somewhat cheap thermal setup for outdoor airsoft night games and not sure what to get. I’ve been looking at the atn ots-xlt any thoughts or suggestions?

Hi Kai, I personally haven't looked though the ATN but looking at the specs and considering airsoft. All you really need to do is to find a heat signature. You can be ensured that it is a human as you are on a battle field. Also given that your shooting ranges are not 500m or something like that you will get away with an entry level monocular like the ots-xlt. Alternatives would be that I used: goingdark.com.au/night-tech-stealth-series-xd-mini-ii-thermal-monocular/ goingdark.com.au/infiray-eye-series-v2-0-c2w-thermal-imaging-monocular/ Hope that helped Bastian

New subscriber says hello. A well made video with many tips to consider when buying thermal devices and hopefully pick the right one/es In my "book" most if not all (thermal) scopes have a to low base magnification combined with top end sensors, but that's me. Anyway thumbs up immediately and greetings from Norway 🇳🇴

Hi Don, hard to say without knowing what you want to shoot and what sort of budget you are looking at. With rimfire ranges you generally can get way with a 19mm to 35mm lens which depends on your target. 19mm would get you a large field of view for targets that move or are in mobs. 35mm would rather be for dogs or foxes, where you want to use the max range and will most likely only shoot ones. If I know your budget and target then I can make specific recommendations.

@@donwoodward2615 Any of those 3 scopes will do you well. Sorted by order of recommendation : goingdark.com.au/tube-th35-thermal-imaging-riflescope-infiray/ goingdark.com.au/talion-xg35-thermal-imaging-scope-pulsar/ goingdark.com.au/conotech-polaris-635r-thermal-imaging-sight/ Please note that only the cono tech is currently available, the others have been released but have not yet hit the Australian market in any sufficient quantities. I have the CZ515 myself (tactical version) and I use the Cono Tech 635RL (laser range finding version so that the scope can predict bullet drop). If you have the standard wood version of the cz515, you will need a picatinny rail in order to mount the cono tech as well as the pulsar. You can Ring mount the tube as it is a standard 30mm tube. Hope this helps

The main problem which gets left out in videos like this is that a monocular isn't a rifle scope you can use to shoot at the target animal. A rifle isn't dangerous till there is a round in the chamber. If you have less than 10k to spend and you buy a monocular. You aren't getting a scope as well unless you get a very cheap monocular. A tripod for your rifle so you can swing the rifle around easily is much cheaper than a monocular. Or shoot from a vehicle rifle rest. Get a monocular if you can afford both.

8X digital magnification is an absolute (marketing scam) farce on the Rattlers. I wish I could delete the 8x setting completely.
