What is Mario Kart 8 Deluxe?
"Mario Kart 8 Deluxe" is a racing game in the Mario Kart series for the Nintendo Switch which was first released on April 28, 2017. The game is the first Super Mario game overall to be released for the Nintendo Switch. It is an enhanced port of Mario Kart 8 for the Wii U. The base game contains additional content such as several new characters and an overhauled Battle Mode with new courses and modes. First teased in the Switch's announcement video on October 20, 2016, the game was formally announced as part of the Nintendo Switch presentation on January 13, 2017.

1. The Yoshi Bike not changing color for the different colors of Yoshi 2. Shy Guy's vehicle colors (default [red] makes various vehicles black). This issue wasn't in 7, even though you could only play as a Shy Guy color other than red in 7 when using Download Play without a cartridge

I assume that the change to Royal Raceway is to prevent new players from accidentally driving the wrong way, especially players that came from 7 in which Mario Circuit goes through a portion of Peach’s Castle.

The funny thing is that the two Links actually make more sense being separate characters then Tanuki Mario and Cat Peach. You have BOTW Link and Skyward Sword Link and Zelda lore wise these aren't actually the same person since each of them were alive on opposite ends of the timeline. Tanuki Mario and Cat Peach are literally just Mario and Peach in fursuits though

There are literaly Only 2 tracks with rain. The other one being GBA Luigi circuit (most underated track in the serie in my opinion)

@@NoahsaturneScratch gba Luigi circuit is genuinely one of my favorite tracks simply for its atmosphere but even the tracks layout itself it’s really good, with plenty of corner cuts and the puddles were always fun to dodge. I was really hoping for it to be brought to 8 deluxe but with there being 1 wave left it seems like it most likely wont be added which is a shame

In the Wii U version, Battle Mode was played on regular racetracks. Closing off the castle on Royal Raceway makes sense to prevent players from camping. Even if the track itself was not featured in Battle Mode, it had to be prepared as if it would have been available for Battle Mode. Another reason to close the castle off is to save on performance, since the building and its surroundings can be rendered with a lower poly count if players can't get close to them.

in the original neo bowser city, the shortcut was meant to be difficult to pull off, but was very possible because of the glider physics in 7, in 8 the glider physics changed, and they just never updated it i guess???

Also in MK7 the shortcut was next to the finish line, not behind it, so it was much easier to adjust your position to not hit a wall. Why they moved it back a little, I'll never understand

For that last one, high traction helps. The reason it's usually such a detriment is because of the slippery road caused by the rain. Using a set with a high traction stat stops you from slipping, allowing you to take the turn after the shortcut seamlessly.

I can answer the Moonview one... In the original Wii version these used to turn on and off changing up where to line up for the boost I suspect they don't do that any more and just pick one across the line to have lit up

Moonview Highway is a highway so some part of the track is in construction meaning the dash panels randomize each race

i was so cracked back on 3ds on the coopa city map after hitting the fan you have to touch the road asap and instantly go into a drift to take the corner as sharp as possible

So, I think the reason for the Neo Bowser City one is because of how drifting changed in between MK7 and MK8. In MK7, it was always optimal to take the draft and you’d never crash your drift, but in MK8, it’s now objectively worse. This was probably because the motion controls for 1st person MK7 allowed for insanely tight drifting, so they had to give that to the non 1st person players as well. Now that it’s no longer a feature, the drifting is now much wider. Also 200cc is a death sentence on that map no matter what.

True. In MK7 it also was directly next to the finish line, so you had enough time after the fan to adjust your position and angle so that you can continiue to drive on full speed.

Fun fact: on the 3DS version of Neo Bowser City, that very same air stream exists. It's still detrimental even on its home console.

It works well in MK7, because of it's position and thd glider physics being different. In 7 the fan is next to the finish line, not that far behind it, so you have more time to get into position and get the right angle. In MK8 it's almost impossible, because the shortcut and gliding mechanics weren't adjusted to each other and therefore don't work well😢.

The Neo Bowser City one is actually a pretty good shortcut as you cut out some turning, you just have to ground yourself immediately and start hop-turning to align yourself properly

Yeah, I think the shortcut is also a little more viable in 200cc, you have to landing immediately and go into a brake drift. Depending on kart combination, you will either just barely pass the corner, or crash.

Tanooki Mario and Cat Peach have unique stats from base Mario and Peach, so it makes more sense they're treated as separate characters. To put them in the "costume" selection would give the impression that they're only cosmetic differences, like with Link and Yoshi's variants, but they're not. The Villagers were split into separate characters between Wii U and Deluxe for the same reason.

Well theres two explainations Death does not want the wish, therefore does not show up on the map. We never see him mention the wish unless it relates to Puss. We also never see the bakers speak about the wish, therefore we can assume that they don't want it either, which may be why neither show up on the map. However, seeing as Perrito also doesn't want the wish, yet still appears on the map, this explaination should be taken with a grain of salt Or no.2, this is meant to his exemplify this errieness. A character so elusive and powerful that not even a magical map can't see is a terrifying thought. Which is probobly the point
