In the real world on real roads I'll take the extra torque the GS offers thanks very much. At least the GS is unmistakable, the Multistrada looks too much like other manufacturers bikes to stand out IMO. The GS is more popular for a reason 😉

I had a GS and moved on to a 1600gtl but I am now looking at the Ducati and the Africa Twin DCT as my next bike but the Ducati is the best looking bike from most angles you look at it from of all adventure bikes

Yeah, I believe that Italians know how to build beautiful machines. Now the GTL is a smooth-looking bike too and the sound of that 6-cylinder monster engine is awesome. Amazing piece of engineering on two wheels.

Interesting but mostly thank you for helping me settle in the GS. The horse power is a moot point as 99.5% of riders will NEVER put that horse power on the ground. Both bikes have more than enough power. As for the looks here in lies another problem for the MS. As an adventure bike they often get a little worse for wear if u r riding them properly. I’ll take the GS down single track whereas I’d be worried about the cosmetics if the MS and expensive repairs. Good luck with the girls. If that’s what u need definitely get the MS. I’m going riding and not 2 up. Both bikes r awesome. If yr review was Panegale v S1000RR u’d be spot on but fir adventure GS is King! 😁

I believe it's true what you say about horsepower, especially at that level of power. Thanks for sharing this! One more thing that somebody mentioned and that is also correct is that parts and accessories can be so much pricey in the case of Ducati.

Most people never take either bike on anything extreme with many never leaving the pavement.... GSA does seem to hold it's value better and for that reason I went with a used 1260 Enduro with only 6000 miles on it (saved 10k compared to original MSRP) - Mine will be primarily an upright sports touring bike

I thank you for the sharpness of this analisys. This five points are true I can agree with this as a statement. Everything holds on the importance that one of each five points means to the rider. For me the best looking bike is always the one I own. So I don’t care if out there are other bikes more beautiful, they can be, but they aren’t mine. So, I don’t really know how beautiful they are, I only can say they seem to be beautiful and there I find a big difference in terms of significant meaning of the appreciation and value of the attribute it self. Next, the engine sound, it is attractive and it is something important. After some months riding it, becomes normal, not special...so, maybe we shouldn’t choose the bike only for its looks or engine sound. Another point is tech features and both bikes have their pros and cons, so it is meaningful depending on the use we give to the bike. For instance, if you do more off-road or on road riding, if you ride often at night or more during the day light hours, or if you ride more in urban environment or on more isolated roads. A lot of girls find Ducati multistrada beautiful but often they get confused about what it is and about where it comes from. With the GS every girl recognizes what it is because it is known as one of the most famous bikes around the world. Multistrada is cool...but only for cats😎. In my GS I feel comfortable to do 300 kms or more at night and I know that if I have a problem, BMW can assist me And send immediately help. With Ducati that is not going to happen. With the GS I find a lot of bikers to go on a tour. With the Ducati is likely I’ll ride alone most of the time. And last , I feel happy when I ride my GS. Would I feel happy too, riding a Ducati Multistrada? Could be. If I took it for a fast and wild ride, but not to own one.

Very nicely said and thank you for sharing that experience. This is a really good insight and interesting perspective considering owner's point of view. I fully relate to the statement that especially with motorcycles, many if not all things become much more emotional. It's enough to see how some owners or fan boys react to certain opinions of others. It's so emotional! Actually if it makes us happy with that we ride, then it's great. I'm glad you're enjoying your GS and it's a fantastic bike! Thanks once again for sharing with us!

Shouldn't be disappointed at all. Different but not a "worse" bike. In some ways it totally kicks ass. Take a look at the newest Multistrada V4. I've got a video coming about it too. A full review and comparison to S1000XR and GS. It looks really, really interesting. Best ground clearance in class and it's now the most powerful bike out there with a pretty large lead. It may smoke all other adventure bikes out there.

I have had three Multistradas and now have a 1250GS. I will be selling the GS in the spring after less than a year. I cannot tolerate the engine [not exhaust] noise, the shitty quickshifter, poor fuel consumption [36mpg v >50 for the Multistrada] and the fact that at times it still feels like a barge. For me the choice is between the new KTM and the old 1260 Ducati.
@VToldsMotoShow3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the insights. I'd expect a boxer to be better with saving fuel. Were you comparing it to Multistrada 1260?
@bjorndecker3233 Жыл бұрын
My 1250 gets 43 MPG city and highway, and I ride aggressively 80-90 MPH highway and 4-6k rpm on backroads so I don’t know where your getting 30 MPG from I get about 46 MPG going the speed limit (65-70 mph) on highway
@leighchapman9353 жыл бұрын
Yes, the Ducati has more power and torque and is excellent on road, but the GS is brilliant on road, touring and off-road and it’s shaft drive .. so a much better all-rounder. Ducati looks like an angry bird, no good off-road, lots of electrical problems, chain drive. If I wanted the power of the Ducati, then I would have bought a real sports or sports/tourer. Give me the GS HP all day, every day😃👍

I have met 3 bmw dealers - didn't trust them at all, and I have met a lot of gs riders - almost all of them are snobs. Multistrada riders and Ducati dealers are more fun and better quality services than bmw. 10 :1 for Ducati versus bmw
@Kornholeeoo8 ай бұрын
I’m not a snob. But I have been in BMW dealerships where the salesmen were snobs and I was ready to buy that day. Just couldn’t give them my money. Bought a Harley but still wanted a GSA. 7 years later I walked into a BMW dealership and the whole crew were awesome and didn’t have a 3 grand markup on the bikes. Bought my Triple Black R1250GSA that day. I’ve been in Harley dealerships, Honda dealerships, Kawasaki dealerships and others where the staff were snobs. And met many snobs on various different bikes. It’s the person, not the bike. Everyone wants validation that they bought the right bike so they will naturally find friends with those who have a bike like theirs. It’s the same with trucks, Chevy, Ford, Dodge, Nissan, Toyota. I have a Harley and when I ride it, other Harley riders wave back. But when I’m on my BMW, lots of riders on Harleys won’t wave back at me.

Equal on reliability. Both shit.
@VToldsMotoShow3 жыл бұрын
I think I'd still give an edge to BMW here. I've literally never experienced any malfunction of any BMW bike that I've rode and it was well over 10 different motorcycles. With Ducatis a Diavel had an issue (chain), Multi was broken (fuel level and some pump), and during my first test ride on an even older Multi, a selesperson's Monster wouldn't want to start its engine for a couple of minutes. And I rode less than 10 Ducati bikes over the years, so statistically they are much less reliable even based on my own experiences with both brands. Legends are sometimes very true.

@@VToldsMotoShow I've had 4 bmw's an 1150gs adv 2 1200gs and a s1000r.
