Please I have 1 question, and one question only, thank you as you assist. the insurance section in my application asked some details which threw me off balance and I was totally confused 🥲; I need to know what exactly they require so I don’t get bounced: Here is what they said in the insurance section, ”Provide a valid European health insurance OR a provisional replacement certificate of European health insurance card, OR a health insurance certificate indicating an expiry date”. Now I can see the emphasis seems to be European and not even Luxembourgian health insurance, how do I go about this since am not in Europe or Luxembourg but primarily the last phrase in the write up is my main huddle or issue, which is …“, or a health insurance indicating an expiry date” Does that mean any insurance indicating an expiry date, that is any insurance with an expiry date is acceptable, because there’s a health insurance policy for people traveling , which you pay for in Nigeria that covers health and is cheap, so I don’t know if this counts? Cos in the first breath of the write up, they emphasized a lot on European insurance, and then the “,or Health Insurance Certificate Indicating an expiry date “following the earlier phrase is spinning my brain in different direction and giving me a lot of ideas , or method to go about it and am not sure if it’s correct and I don’t want to do something wrong and mess my admission.

Hi, it is not about how many pages but the quality of what you wrote and the contents of your CV. You should explain in specific and simple terms why you chose the programme while emphasising why your previous educational and professional experiences adequately equipped you for this programme. I did my second masters in Integrated Systems Biology, and they only accepted 16 that year. They will take only 18 applicants this year, so it s highly competitive. Unfortunately, meeting the essential requirement may not be enough. So this is why motivational statement and other skills acquired is highly crucial. Generally, what is required is a motivation letter; a recommendation letter seems optional except specified by the programme you applied for. Nevertheless, you can merge it with your CV and upload it if you like. Nuel

I don't know when you will graduate from your current bachelor's degree programme so I am not in the best position to tell you the best time to apply. What I can tell you is that you should have your certificate and transcripts of results ready by the time you want to make an online application. There is no standard time of response from the admission department, so many factors may affect their time of response, it could be in days but it can also take weeks so it is case by case basis. Firstly, I don't have the power to determine who will get admission. You'll need to follow the application guidelines, then wait and see what happens. Write your motivation letter very well. Also, to study medicine, you MUST have evidence of German and French language proficiency before applying. More importantly, you must apply for the recognition of your high school certificate from the Luxembourg Ministry of Education before applying for Bachelors' degree programmmes; this is a mandatory requirement. Until you make an application you won't know your chances, as a general rule it is preferable to apply for a programme that you have the academic background to backup. However, if you have some professional experience or some background that is somehow in that area even though distantly then it is not a bad Idea to try. You can also increase your chances by writing your motivation statement excellently. Regarding the application fees, in my own understanding you will have to make the payment per application. Yes you can apply for three different programmes but the payment is per programme and not one payment for three applications, that is not my understanding of that because they are three separate application and courses so in principle the payments are also different. Also after your graduation you are allowed to apply for work permit. In addition after residing in Luxembourg for a period of years you may be eligible for naturalisation (check my videos). However, if you are offered an admission by the faculty, you will need to apply for the recognition of your foreign certificate, at the point you will need to authenticate your documents. If you are applying for three courses, it is only logical to modify your motivation statement to align with the various courses. You may start your motivation letter with your first choice and change it to fit the other two courses. From the research I made on this, the account has to be your own or a family member's ( the family member in this regard is your parents, as stated by the Immigration Directorate Luxembourg). Please search for my video on the proof of funds for Luxembourg visa application on my KZbin channel (Nuels Universe); I explained everything in detail with relevant links in that video. I also have several videos about studying, working and living in Luxembourg, so kindly check them out. (2.) You are allowed to apply for three different programmes per applicant, but you need to pay the application fees separately if applicable. If you are applying for different programmes, it is only logical and reasonable that you modify the personal statement to suit the various programmes, so you may have to make some few modifications accordingly. Thanks for your kind words. It is unclear if admitted bachelor's and master's degree students can do that during their visa application (I don't have the full facts now); from what I read from the appropriate website, researchers or university employees might apply for their dependents simultaneously with their own application. Nevertheless, I wonder if that applies to other students. In my view, if you are travelling for your masters, I don't see the need for urgency in also trying to go with all your family members at the same time, after your primary objective is to travel to study and for the relocation of your family, so it makes more sense to me that you travel first for your study then after some time you plan for your family based on what the law says. Every applicant can apply for a maximum of 3 different programmes. It is upto you whether you want to apply for one or three programmes but bear in mind that the university of Luxembourg is highly competitive perhaps the more the programmes the better your chances of getting admission. Nevertheless , choosing three programmes is not a guarantee for admission because you must meet the requirements so ensure that you choose courses that have some correlation with your previous studies and write your motivation letter very well. Also include other Extra skills, training and certification that are relevant to the programme you want to apply, prepare a robust CV using Europass format etc. All the best. Nuel .

If you are applying for masters degree programme,you can go ahead and upload your simple copies of your documents. The recognition of your foreign diploma will only be needed after the faculty offers you an admission. Usually, insurance is needed during the application of your temporary authorisation to stay and not during admission process. I find it very strange that the programme you are applying demands an insurance, please read the process carefully and inquire from the department. Regards Nuel

If you want to apply for a bachelors degree programme at the university of Luxembourg, you must first apply for the recognition of your high school certificate if you obtained it outside Luxembourg. Hi, WASSCE has ranking system, whether you have A1 or B3 etc. , there are percentage of mark that determines what grade, if you check the back of your WASSCE certificate you may find valuable information . If you take sometime and check WAEC website you may also find valuable information there. The ECTS [The European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System is a standard means for comparing academic credits], If you check your transcripts you will see how your university graded your degrees and the ranking order they used. Where did you study? You first need to understand the admission requirements for the first degree. For example, the West African Secondary School Certificate (WASSCE) is accepted in most European schools. From simple research, I found that many universities require a combination of Cambridge International AS and A Levels and Cambridge IGCSEs to meet their entry requirements. Masters in Biomedical sciences is organised in collaboration with different universities, so students will study different semesters in those universities, that is how the programme is structured which will give students a good experience. So if you are interested then go ahead to apply, to also increase your chances. Masters in integrated systems biology is competitive and they will accept only 18 students in the 2023/2024 academic year, during my time when I got admission to study Integrated Systems Biology in 2016, they accepted only 16 students then and I was one of them. So try your best and make sure you write a compelling motivation letter. All the best.

However, when applying for your visa, you need to send your documents directly to the Luxembourg Directorate in Luxembourg; if they approve your application, then they will send you a letter (Temporary authorisation to stay) and an explanation on how to collect your visa at the Belgium embassy in Abuja Nigeria. To apply for a bachelor's degree at the University of Luxembourg and in Luxembourg, you must first apply for the recognition of your high school certificate to the Luxembourg Ministry of Education. Now, one of the conditions for that recognition is that you MUST have evidence of either a French, German or Luxembourgish language certificate; otherwise, your application for recognition will not be processed, and consequently, you will not be able to secure an admission at the University of Luxembourg for Bachelors degree programme. Unfortunately, this is a mandatory requirement, and there is no way around it. In that case you will need your high school transcripts and certificate (WASSCE etc.) but if you have a first degree from your country then you can apply for masters degree programme and in that case you will need your first degree transcripts and certificate. So whether you are in school there or not does not matter, what matters is the qualification you have at the moment , which will determine what programme or level of study you can apply for.
