Yeah i'm kinda bummed they wont even do allusions to cats... like just do Cat prints/ears and tails into their high fashion. Makes it look like they feel like they think theyre too good for it.. or think its cringe :(

@@Ikwileennieuwenaam_ The songs are still all about cats, aren’t they? That’s a major part of the show! And the rights must’ve cost a fortune - if they thought they were “too good” for Cats, they simply wouldn’t do Cats. This vid doesn’t show many costumes, so perhaps some do have feline motifs. Or maybe they tried designs like that, but they never quite gelled. We just don’t know enough details to justify uncharitable accusations. Heck, someone could accuse you of thinking that queer ball culture isn’t good enough, without cutesy cat ears to spice it up - but obviously that wouldn’t be fair, either! This production approaches the show from a different direction. Not a replacement, not necessarily better or worse, just different. It’s a creative re-imagining - a celebration of a beloved classic, and something brand new, all rolled into one!

And interpretation is exactly that, not a carbo copy of the original. Most Off-Broadway shows became successful for doing a different version from the original. Everyone talks about being inclusive, so here's a show doing just that, but you find issues with it because the performers aren't covered in fur. And you guys use that word way too much to describe things that are even remotely offensive.​@@Ikwileennieuwenaam_

I'm honestly not trying to be rude and I'm queer myself but y'all lost me the second you said the characters aren't cats anymore... That's the whole point of the musical is that they're cats and they're weird. I guess, though, the adaptation isn't primarily for fans of Cats the Musical but rather for people who enjoy Ballroom and that's totally fair.

Why? Just... Why? Name ONE "reimagining" of a Broadway show (or movie or television show) that has been even *remotely* as successful as the original creation. THERE IS NONE. The original ideas for show creations were painstakingly developed...sometimes over YEARS of creative genius. These thrown-together "knock-offs" are (sadly) superficial jokes...and anyone who buys into them doesn't understand creativity. Creativity is ORIGINAL.

I’m sure this version isn’t horrible. But people hate cats because the movie left a horrible taste in everyone’s mouth. Cats isn’t a musical to be “reimagining” after that. It’s a musical that has proved to everyone already that it’s perfectly fine the way it was written. Costumes and all. Taking away 60% of the experience isn’t gonna be good. It’s just gonna feel like moulin rouge with cats soundtrack.
