Dear Annie, a couple of weeks ago i discovered your chalk paint!! it was a blast when i discovered your colour palette, ohh i just adore all the colours.. it has been a dilemma which colour to choose as all of them are so beauuutiful.. finally i chose provence for my kitchen cabinets, i have just painted all in the provence and it is stunning!! now i will order gliding wax and stencils to draw small details on the cabinets. In the end i just would like to say, thanks so much for your beautiful art, it is so much in tune with my heart and mind :)

I want to have 3 layers of wax for a fully protective surface. I see you’re supposed to leave 24hrs in between applications, but do you buff in between or just wax, wait, wax wait and only buff after the last layer? Thank you.
@AnnieSloanHome Жыл бұрын
Hello, buffing the wax is completely optional, it just adds extra shine to the piece. So there's no need to buff for protective purposes.

Annie, I am a first time chalk painter. I painted an old, dark chest white and turned it into a seat/storage for our guest room. I put one coat of wax on it. Do I do additional coats?

Hello. We purchased chairs that were painted and finished with your wax. When we sit on them you can’t slide on the chair. Should I paint them to make them slippery, with a gloss paint? If so can a normal gloss paint be used? Or should I try to buff them to make them shiny and thus slippery? Please advise
@AnnieSloanHome Жыл бұрын
Hello! As they've already been waxed we would recommend buffing with a lint-free cloth which will produce a certain amount of shine.

I want to chalk paint and wax a pine bed frame but it's the one we currently sleep on . After waxing thinly, I want a matt finish so will not buff it any more than wiping off the surplus . You say it then needs to cure. but long after waxing can I use the bed? as I'm concerned about the bedlinen being in contact with some surfaces eg pillows against the headboard and the wax being absorbed into the material etc Thank you so much for the opportunity to ask .
@AnnieSloanHome2 жыл бұрын
You will be fine to use your furniture after it is painted and wax, just be a little gentle at first while it's curing.
@rosemaryphilpott69512 жыл бұрын
@@AnnieSloanHome Thank you. I have only just noticed you suggest giving 2- 3 coats of wax 24 hrs apart but that refers to a table or kitchen cabinet. Is it critical for a bed, and will the final effect be even darker. Does the wax then have to be repeated over time ie every couple of years or so to maintain condition. Thank you.

A damp cloth is really all you need! If you get a mark that does not wipe away easily, Clear Chalk Paint Wax is great for removing those issues. Avoid the use of bleach and chemicals which will harm the finish.

Annie love your products so much!!! I have a few questions for you. 1. How do you clean your brush that you use for wax? 2. Do you use a different brush for dark or clear wax?
@AnnieSloanHome3 жыл бұрын
Hello Laura!! Soap and hot water should do the trick nicely! You can certainly use different brushes for Dark and Clear waxes, but it's not necessary if the brushes are cleaned thoroughly.

Hi, wanting to paint my kitchen cabinets. After the wax has cured, is it safe to clean doors with a damp cloth as you would normally do when cleaning kitchen?
@AnnieSloanHome2 жыл бұрын
Hello! You can wipe your waxed finishes anytime with mild soap and water. If you have a spot that does not come clean with a damp cloth, try rubbing a bit of wax over the spot to remove it.

Hello Annie , thanks for this informative video .my question is to get a good protection using wax of 2-3 coat .so at every interval of 24 hrs I need to wax means will be completed in 3 days for 3 coats of wax .Am I understanding correctly??? Please help me to guide .thank you ❤️
@AnnieSloanHome2 жыл бұрын
Hello Shaily, you are correct! It will take three days to apply 3 coats of wax. Afterward, it's best to be gentle with the piece for a few weeks until the wax is cured and hardened. That said, protecting your furniture with runners, placemats, and coasters is a great way to keep your furniture looking new for years to come

Hello Annie. Can I use mini foam paint roller to paint my furniture with the chalk paint ?
@annalisafeleppa73913 жыл бұрын
Thanks! The last question about the paint getting messed up... I didn't understand it. 🙈 are they talking about painting a design, then when they waxed it went funny? Or are they saying a plain colour like the cupboard next to you? I've not had anything get messed up yet so I can't understand how it happens. I've done very textured pieces, patterned and plain. How are they painting it wrong, so I don't make the same mistake. 😱 x

For me personally, the first time I ever waxed - before I waxed, the paint strokes looked even. After I waxed, you could see EVERY nook and cranny that was made my brush. I think the way to avoid this issue is with a foam roller, or just a roller so that there are no brush strokes. I'm going to try sanding my next project after I finish painting it, because I don't have a foam roller at the moment and I want to use what I have. Hope this helps!

I'm off to buy my first ever bucket of Annie Sloan paint from my local stockist here in Stockholm, Sweden. My questions: Is it possible/better to use something more durable such as polyurethane to seal a dining table that will be in constant use or will the wax be sufficient/advisable? Would be grateful for an answer. Thanks

@AnnieSloanHome2 жыл бұрын
Hello Emily! The Pearlescent Glaze has the same sealing properties as the Lacquer, so it will protect your paint very well! If you wanted to use it as an accent, I would recommend that your seal your piece with the Lacquer first.

Hello Susan, most texture is created when the paint is over-brushed. Thin coats are best! Lay the paint down with your brush and then lightly feather over the surface with the very tips of the brush and let the paint do the rest!

Thanks Annie. I’ve seen other videos where people use your wax but buffing after 2 hours of waxing. What do you say about that? Is that good or not ? And what is the best thing to use for buffing to get great shine ?
@AnnieSloanHome3 жыл бұрын
Hello! It really is best to let the wax dry overnight! It allows the solvent that makes the wax soft to evaporate completely so that the wax may be polished. Otherwise, you're simply moving the wax around if you do it too early. A clean lint free cloth is best for buffing!

Hey, that cutaway of her speaking to the main camera…wtf is she looking at?, the viewer? The cameraman? The sandwich basket? Whats wrong with you today? It makes no storytelling sense, if you need a cutaway use your close up, removing the need for camera two, just shoot 4k and do your script emphasis in framing. Please, please, from 1939 onwards that method has been used and is a safe reliable method.
