First of all, a big thank you to all of you who kindly wish me all well while visiting your country. I did have a realy good time in Ireland. Beautifull country, friendly people, amazing black stuff, brilliant whiskey and beauty of Galway - that's what I'll remember. The weather, well, you can't have it all, can you? Anyway, thank you all once more. Dad.

I'm a 59 year old female in Northern Nevada, US and I feel like a failure because I was a single mom and moved a few times so I have no pension, only social security. I am so grateful that I own my house and my payment is only $700/month (with property taxes and insurance). My home will be paid off in 8 years, but I don't want to live here forever. I've been looking at County Tyrone, since my great-grandparents were from there and I still have family there.

If you are planning a vacation or even emigrating to Ireland remember that Ireland is an ear based society... music, conversation, jokes, story telling etc even with strangers whereas Anglo Saxon societies such as UK, northern Europe and the USA are eye based....good architecture, efficiency, punctual transport, meeting friends on time.....ok very simplistic...but in Ireland talk to people in pubs, on the bus and the train....enjoy the music.......you will have a wonderful trip. Remember our many victories in the Eurovision's song contest!! David McCabe Dublin 85 years young.

Hi, just to clarify, health care is free to all in Ireland. There is a fee for GP visit and a small fee for attending ER but not charged if you admitted to Hospital. GP is free to medical card holders. People who can afford it buy private health insurance but are still entitled to free health care.

I would doubt there’s even 3 apartments of any price to rent in my town at the moment so that tells your about the housing issue! The population of where I am from is about 8500

I mean this in the nicest way possible, but your accent is just the sweetest. I love it. I hope your dad had a great time too. Totally agree with you RE housing, it's an absolute disaster. Next is healthcare. The hospitals are an absolute disaster, not due to the staff, they are doing their best but they are underpaid and understaffed. It's better if you can afford it to have private health insurance. The famine is a very hot topic for many of us so tread carefully with it. Great video as always 😊

I'm an English speaker from the Netherlands, a Dutch citizen. I plan to move to Ireland, because I really like the country. If you have to pay 500-800 euros for a room in an Irish city, it's still OK. In the Netherlands, you have to pay the same price for a room in a small town. The housing crisis in the Netherlands is worse than any other housing crisis in Europe. And the Dutch health care is ridiculous. Because of the insane waiting lists, I had to get all medical procedures in other countries, working a lot and paying myself.

I want to live in Ireland so bad and spend time in the Gaeltachts and become fluent. It's just crazy expensive. I can move to Australia for a little over 10 grand but Ireland ? Need to have a job paying 50 thousand euro a year before you can even make the move and most of the time they'd rather just give someone from Ireland the job which makes sense but it sucks. Its my dream to move to Ireland. I don't want government assistance or welfare. I'm a hard worker and just want a small apartment in Dublin or Galway but I'll never be able to save up enough money in a lifetime. If you want to become a citizen through investment in Ireland you need either half a million or a million I can't remember. That's insane!! What common person can afford that??

I haven’t gotten a raise in years and have applied for at least 100 jobs with no response. My rent is about $1800 per month and that’s with 3 roommates… plus I hate the neoliberal hyper capitalist politics of my govt. Thinking of looking for a Data Analytics job in Ireland but not sure how welcomed I will be or if it will be any more affordable than NYC…. Any advice for an attempted move to Ireland? If you can prove a great grandparent was born in Ireland you can get citizenship
@onaematopia
@onaematopia 3 ай бұрын
@@elizabethbarton3047not exactly. You’re only entitled to Irish citizenship via your great-grandparent(s) if your parent(s) registered on the Foreign Birth Register & became an Irish citizen BEFORE you’re born. So, let’s say your great-grandparents were Irish & born in Ireland, and then moved to the USA and had children, their children (your grandparent) will still be an Irish citizen. Your grandparents child (your parent) will be entitled to Irish citizenship BUT they have to register on the foreign birth register. If your parent did that BEFORE you were born, then you can also become a citizen by registering on the foreign birth register. If your parent didn’t register, or they registered AFTER you were born, then you can’t claim citizenship via your great-grandparent(s). Basically, every generation after your great-grandparents would’ve needed to become an Irish citizen in order for you to become one. So realistically, if your parent or grandparent isn’t an Irish citizen, you can’t become one. I hope this makes sense

@belmordok3661

@Gary Hynes, Ireland is a rich country because Ireland hasn't had the world wars and other conflicts, not to mention, corruption of the officials like in Croatia, and especially, because corporations like Google, Dell etc came in and saved the day. Besides, most of Irish I've worked with are just lazy and incompetent, also, a very bad personal hygiene. Croatia might be a bollocked country because of many reasons, but Croatians in general do not condone lack of personal hygiene. One more thing, if there were no foreign nationals, Irish would still stuck with 'tatoes anc cabbage. In the end, most of people which come to Ireland are living upon their own hard work and knowledge, unlike most of Irish which are just making babies and living upon the social benefits. In other words, foreign nationals are making Irish lives so much easier. Otherwise, you would do things which no one else wants. I rest my case.

The healthcare system in Ireland sucks! The Irish are hostages to a mainly private medical system due to an endless succession of conservative governments and the private medical system lobbyists that they are in cahoots with. So, the people are largely hostages to private insurance companies that have just hiked their rates yet again. If citizens in the rest of Europe aren't laughing at us, they should. They nearly all have a universal healtcare system card. Flash your card, pay nothing, done! In-patients in Ireland had to wait and wait and wait weeks and months to get in. Then once in, they are sleeping on trolleys in the hallways. And if they aren't young children, or over 70, they have to pay big fees if they didn't cough up for private insurance. Beware!

@@MENSA.lady2wel we’re all very happy to be in the EU and we still make our own laws. Much better than when we were ruled by Britain who tried to starve us all.

@@Corrky ok alright. Do you see the sun everyday or most of the days? Even if it is for a few minutes or hours? In Finland, we don't see the sun for days to months.

Oh it’s definitely better that. I wouldn’t say we go days without a sun, at least not very often.
