Thanks so much for going into detail on TT. No one is really explaining what the app has. They’re all more whether or not it helped but I wanted to know how much control I have as a parent. The worst thing is paying even after a trial and realizing there’s no control. No one likes to purchase curriculum and then have all the regrets.

My son did TT for at least 5 or 6 years, and it was an absolute blessing. I had the settings set to where he had a second try at the problems, and I think that helped him a lot. If he didn't know the answer the first round he could rethink it and retry it. I should mention too, that he was "behind" in math before switching to TT and was able to triple or quadruple lessons. He always did well with the load. Anyways, fast forward to today, he is now in public school for 9th grade and has a 96% in Algebra 1. I believe that TT helped him with recall, mastery, and the ability to figure math problems out independently. I'm not a math person, so I give TT all the credit.

This is our 2nd year using TT and I knew most of this, but OmGoodness, I didn't know you can delete stuff so they can redo them! That's awesome! And I didn't know about the button for the previous lesson either. That's good to know. Thanks so much, I'm loving your videos.

This is my 1st time using TT. My son was making 100’s for the 1st 20 lessons. His homeschool tutor ( senior in high-school), recommended he would take the quizzes in order to find the correct lessons. So, we did that… he’s now on lesson 50. So for us, taking the quizzes to find the right level worked out wonderfully. Plus, I also love applying tips. I don’t let my son use the scratchpad, he has a notebook that’s just for that. So far, he loves TT and I love it too!

I have found the lower grades were adequate but upper was a struggle. We had to switch both kids and lost a year with algebra 1. I have my 3rd kid going through but I won’t use it for upper math. I also switched kid3 from horizons 3 to TT5 which shows how advanced horizons was but not so much TT. But I needed something that was less teacher intensive so it has been helpful for us these two years. I am looking for a new curriculum for pre-algebra/7th

I have heard that TT is 2 grade levels behind. Would you say that that's accurate? I've also heard they have a lot of gaps. Have you noticed any? Thanks in advance!

If you do it right, like monitor, make them redue problems that they miss, even go back and reinforce the problems that they miss, ect…you won’t have gaps. It’s when people just throw the curriculum at their child and walk away and do nothing to keep them accountable. That’s when you start to have problems. But that is with any curriculum. Since Homeschool operates different than public school it’s best to give your child a placement test through Teaching Textbooks to see what level they would begin with. That’s the only way to determine their placement.

I will have to watch this video later but I remember hearing a review about teaching textbooks where the homeschool mom says that she found there were gaps in her child’s math education. Do you find this once they get to middle school?

It’s how you use Teaching Textbook. A lot of parents just hand it over to them and walk away, they don’t follow up or check their grade. They just forget about it. Kids are smart, they will find loopholes and ways to get around it. And with that mentality, of course there will be gaps. You have to check on them, you have to check on their grades, you have to still keep them accountable.

@@LivingWithEve and there will always be learning gaps, no matter what curriculum you choose, no matter what schooling route you go. My kids were in private education for the first 7 years of their lives and had SO MANY gaps. No system, no curriculum is going to guarantee that every single kid learns every single thing, 100% of the time. If that is what we are aiming for as homeschooling moms we are setting ourselves up to feel like failures.
