i worked at the bounder/southwind/pace arrow plant for 17 years in riverside, ca. from 1983-2000. we previously made flairs, and class c motorhomes also. i helped build way over 100,000 motorhomes in my time there.the family atmosphere and friendships i developed there were the most rewarding part of my employment. most of the time there were over 500 employees. i was able to work in many different departments, including maintenance, windows and doors, paint dept, final finish interiors, lamination, floors, walls, final finish paint, cabinet shop, table saw operator, mill dept, fork lift, installing appliances and air conditioners, carpet laying, table laminating, and office and storage building . sometimes i worked from 6 or 7 until 2 AM. usually 6 day weeks. many many days until 7:30 or 9:30. we peaked at 15 units a day. i still hear in my head......move the line!!!!!

oh wow! so cool! Do you ever see one on the road and wonder if you built it? Sounds like you were an extremely hard worker....that's a long work day and 6 days too!

Interesting tour. Thanks for sharing. I wished more manufacturers share the true wall assembly and the actual R value and type of insulation they use. Most use the cheap white foamboard like I see in this video, but there are several much better insulation foam in the same thickness. Every little would help on the heating and cooling of these RV's.

You make a very good point. I think the profit point is high enough to add higher grade products. Thanks for watching!

Excellent plant tour, I have been there many times and spent more time than you can imagine in the chassis section. It would be great if you could release the full tour so the rest of your viewers can see the full production. Thanks,

Thank you for making this great video! You condensed it for a great over view and focused on informative narrating. I particularly enjoyed seeing the details of some construction of the floors and walls. Didn't know they made channels to insert walls to the floor! If there's more details on that, I would love to see more video(s) covering that construction. In particular, I want to see this to understand the construction of the outer and inner walls, floor and ceiling so I will know what needs to be done when repairing my old rig (I can't afford a new one). Thank you again!

Hi Josh. So glad you enjoyed the video. I agree with you that it was interesting seeing how the walls were put together with the floor. I'll reach out to Mike Rove at Fleetwood and see if he has any videos that go into greater detail. He does most of the walkthroughs for the Fleetwood models.

Another fantastic video, thank you. I do feel bad for you having to suffer all that noise. I have been in factories that produce tin cans and they were quieter, With additional music noise I would go nuts. His problem with the mask was most distracting. Any points he was trying to make were diluted by the distraction. The most positive aspect of the video was the professionalism you all displayed. I wish you all a great New Year, hopefully I will see you on the road in 2022.

Thats crazy funny two or three a day back in 1987 we were pushing 100 units a week 6 days a week from 5:30 am till 8 pm I worked for pace arrow and bounder in Riverside California the two sister plants up on the hill one of the worst jobs I've ever had mass production and no family time no social time most worker dated through company time doing the nasty between line moving the crazy part through all that crap was when the immigration guys would do raids 90% of the plant would run leaving the rest of us out of a job till new hires here in January 2024 I repair what factorys mess up on and sometimes we have to do reengineering to make them better
@AmpedtoGlamp
@AmpedtoGlamp 7 ай бұрын
That is crazy! Wow! Those are harsh work conditions. I'm sure today you get a lot of business repairing and reengineering. We've had a lot of defects with our Bounder. In fact, we're at REV Service in IN right now for the 4th time.

We are down to a Newmar or Fleetwood but so many people say Newmar is far better. What is your opinion.? And I know it is just your opinion.
@AmpedtoGlamp

Newmar has a reputation for better quality but also costs more. Fleetwood is more affordable. If money wasn't an option we would chose the Newmar.

Can we buy from the factory then the dealership? Is it better? And a better deal than buying from a dealership?
@AmpedtoGlamp
@AmpedtoGlamp 8 ай бұрын
You can only buy from the dealerships. You can however get extra assistance from the manufacturer during a purchase at one of the big shows like Hershey or Tampa SuperShow. They will sometimes throw in extra incentives for the deal.
