I have followed Allens solar journey from the start with great interest whilst planning my own which is still not finalised. Allan could fit Marley vent tiles (replacement of existing roof tiles) below and above his solar panels which will create airflow in addition to soffit ventilation for his loft. His inverter/battery arrangement is over complicated and ideally, an Enphase + 2 or 3 Tesla Powerwall's might have been a simpler solution. A white roof underlayment would have helped rather than a dark colour. We learn so much as these systems develop.

It sounds like you've followed us on our journey with Allen's solar system. If you haven't already used our solar product tool, have a try and see what your system would look like... heatable.co.uk/solar/quote

Really interesting to hear your comments about integrated panels overheating as what little info there if online is pretty contradictory. I've just put a deposit down for an instal & the guy who done the site inspection insisted there was zero efficiency difference vs on-roof, which just didn't sit right with me plus the on-roof panels they do are are rated at 55w higher (x32 panels!) so in the end I wend for on-roofs to make sure I get as much production as pos as I'm a high user. I didn't go for a full on battery back up system (very tight budget) where I think you need kit to auto switch your system off grid etc, but I did make sure to get a plug socket attached to the battery so I can at least run some cables/extension leads to vital areas for lower powered gear like broadband etc ready for the very rare power cut, which I think averages once every 5 or so years for about 10 to 20 mins where I live. I think this plug is just standard on some set ups but it wasn't on mine so I had to specifically ask for it as an extra, which cost less than a couple hundred quid in the end. I was going with an 11kw battery but again budget was tight so I settled for 5.5kw & spent the money on more panels as I should use pretty much all of my production even in the summer with very little left over to store or sell back to the grid.

Seeing that there is a lovely looking givenergy batterie behind him, and they just brought out a new all in one solution including gateway, is that something that is/will be available via Heatable?
