1 - change adaptive cruise control to non-adaptive by holding down the cruise control on button for 3 seconds; 2 - press start button 3 times rapidly to emergency shut off the engine; 3 - dealer can customize number of lane change flashes and cancel the seat belt chime; on some cars, dealer can turn on auto windows down when pressing unlock button on remote; 4 - many Toyotas have remote start by pressing lock, lock, looock on the remote; 5 - infotainment system is described by year it was released, not year of vehicle. Another feature that few know about is that you can turn off the key fob, at least on 2019 and newer Corolla (probably all modern Toyota's). It has a battery saving mode that, when activated, will turn the fob off which also prevents anyone from picking up the signal from it to unlock and steal your car. Simply press and hold down the Lock button and, while holding it down, press Unlock two times. The key fob is not turned off and you will not be able to open or start your car with it. To turn the fob back on just press any button once.

I thought they could only get your code when you are actually unlocking the car. Then at night they come and take the car.
@FindLiberty9 ай бұрын
@@vapeking466 Turning off the remote does more than just saving its battery from unnecessary power drain, it improves security by disabling an exploit vector! Don't try this at home, but I think this is how it works: They can use a device to send a STRONG signal to your remote (that's inside you home?) and trick it into sending a response (as if it's outside and very close to the car). The remote sends a unique "key code" signal that's captured by the device. The thief uses the device to re-send this recorded signal to the car. The car responds by sending the other half of the unique handshake response and it's ready to unlock the doors as soon as a hand is detected at the door handle. They've recorded this complete unique smartkey RF code handshake exchange on both frequencies for THIS session that the car thief can use to unlock, start the car, and drive it away. They will have to deal with the immobilizer and begin a procedure for, "all keys lost" once the car is turned off since those codes do change automatically. The VIN and owner name and address is probably in the car and they may attempt to spoof Toyota into sending the reset codes needed to program new smart key(s) for the car. Once reported, Toyota and Police can work together to locate the car. It's interesting how this security feature turns in to a vulnerability nightmare that contributes to a shortage of those smart key fobs and of course, stolen cars.

The only ones I knew about were the auto shut off and the hidden remote start feature. I think Toyota doesn't have a dedicated remote start button on the fob because they want people to subscribe to the app. The app also eliminates the range limitation to using the fob. Personally, I'm not a fan of the subscription model so I don't have the connected services anymore but I also don't use the auto start feature anyway. An idling car takes forever to warm up so I typically just get in and drive nicely (don't floor it or anything) for about a minute. It heats up WAY faster when the engine is under load so I find idling is just a waste of fuel and might be unnecessary wear on the vehicle (cars run rich when cold).

Is there a way to make the engine not stop when the door is opened on a Toyota Venza hybrid after it's been remote started?

I've been wondering about this exact question for the Sienna

Nope ,it’s a Toyota safety feature . It’s dumb ! My other Chevy use to stay on ,open the door ,put ur key in the ignition and it don’t turn off at all

Probably to protect the car from theft. All our Toyota/Lexus cars can drive away without the key fob in the car after it has been started. Found out the hard way when my wife dropped me at the airport and I had the key fob, she was able to drive home with no problem.

@@azzurroday9730 When the car senses the key it should continue to run. If the key goes out of range, I can see why it would shut off, right?

I just bought a '23 Lexus Hybrid and I'm trying to understand the car. I now feel empowered with knowledge thanks to your videos so thank you! My 98 year old friend is really amazed by the features, sounds and especially the kick plate trunk release for grocery bags. She was around to see the true meaning behind horsepower from a horse and buggy to Model T and now this. :) She seems to think that I will see flying cars in the very near future and wanted me to ask you- Do you think Toyota will take the lead on this?

The remote start wow I did not know thank you and unless you use the remote to unlock the doors as soon as you open the doors with keyless entry the engine stops. Thank you.

I’ve read that you should not use cruise control in rainy weather or slick conditions. Your tires can be spinning and you can lose control of your vehicle.

Thanks for the tips. Will definitely try them on my car. By the way, Toyotas are not meant to be enjoyed, but (to their credit) they can be well appreciated 🙂
