1 - change adaptive cruise control to non-adaptive by holding down the cruise control on button for 3 seconds; 2 - press start button 3 times rapidly to emergency shut off the engine; 3 - dealer can customize number of lane change flashes and cancel the seat belt chime; on some cars, dealer can turn on auto windows down when pressing unlock button on remote; 4 - many Toyotas have remote start by pressing lock, lock, looock on the remote; 5 - infotainment system is described by year it was released, not year of vehicle. Hold "Mode" button on steering wheel to mute infotainment system.

Another feature that few know about is that you can turn off the key fob, at least on 2019 and newer Corolla (probably all modern Toyota's). It has a battery saving mode that, when activated, will turn the fob off which also prevents anyone from picking up the signal from it to unlock and steal your car. Simply press and hold down the Lock button and, while holding it down, press Unlock two times. The key fob is not turned off and you will not be able to open or start your car with it. To turn the fob back on just press any button once.

I thought they could only get your code when you are actually unlocking the car. Then at night they come and take the car.
@FindLiberty
@FindLiberty 9 ай бұрын
@@vapeking466 Turning off the remote does more than just saving its battery from unnecessary power drain, it improves security by disabling an exploit vector! Don't try this at home, but I think this is how it works: They can use a device to send a STRONG signal to your remote (that's inside you home?) and trick it into sending a response (as if it's outside and very close to the car). The remote sends a unique "key code" signal that's captured by the device. The thief uses the device to re-send this recorded signal to the car. The car responds by sending the other half of the unique handshake response and it's ready to unlock the doors as soon as a hand is detected at the door handle. They've recorded this complete unique smartkey RF code handshake exchange on both frequencies for THIS session that the car thief can use to unlock, start the car, and drive it away. They will have to deal with the immobilizer and begin a procedure for, "all keys lost" once the car is turned off since those codes do change automatically. The VIN and owner name and address is probably in the car and they may attempt to spoof Toyota into sending the reset codes needed to program new smart key(s) for the car. Once reported, Toyota and Police can work together to locate the car. It's interesting how this security feature turns in to a vulnerability nightmare that contributes to a shortage of those smart key fobs and of course, stolen cars.

As a valet who tries the remote start on all brands for years. There is always a "dance" to get it going even with a dedicated button. I think that Toyota makes the remote start complicated as a safety feature. When there is a dedicated button on the remote, it can be pressed by mistake in your pocket, purse etc. Imagine parking the car in the garage, and car started by mistake. I owned a car in the past that had a dedicated button for the trunk. Many times I found the trunk wide open. Thank you for all your videos. I’ve learned so much from them.

Currently I own Audis and a Mazda. I love the simplicity of my MX-5 and plan to add a Toyota/Lexus this year. I don't think I'll ever own a European make again, zero interest. I love cruise control, and especially adaptive cruise control. I love it so much that I will use it on my way to the corner store half a mile away from my house. My only gripe about adaptive is that when the car in front of me takes an exit or changes into a turn lane and brakes, my truck doesn't recognize that the obstacle is no longer a threat until they are completely out of my lane which leads to hard braking.

Enabled the windows thing on unlock hold. Enabled all windows close on left key hold in driver door. Disabled seatbelt audible alarm for all seats. Lowered the volume of the turn signal. Very happy. I found a good one on my 24 Tundra. First of all thank you for your beautiful videos! I have a question. I have few Toyotas, new models. On one of them 22' you need to connect only by a cable to Carplay. But then if you playing KZbin for example you able to control the music volume unfortunately on other models 24' you connect remotely but the function to control the volume is disabled (even if you connect through the cable). It's a very common problem and I searched the net but none of solutions works for me. Maybe you can explain it to in a next video or send a link to something that really works (I spoke to the dealership and changed a lot of settings and installed many different apps but again for no avail 😢)

I have the Yaris hybrid Gr Sport & I was a bit miffed with the rader cruise control sometimes not working in the rain or getting stuck behind slower cars as it slowed down on the motorway, but now I know about holding the button a couple of secs...job done....& not having a mute button was annoying, I will go & try that with the mode button & everything else you said......brill, Thanks

Follow-up to my comment regarding changing the lane change flasher from 3 to 5 flashes. I asked a customer service guy at Toyota about having that done: 1) He never heard of that being possible after being with Toyota for 18 years 2) After telling him about this video he asked how it could be done 3) I informed him it would take a scan tool 4) After asking about cost he said it would be $208.00 just to hook up a scan tool to see if it was possible. I failed to ask if it would cost more if it was possible. 5) I said OK..."it's not worth that much money" 6) Typical dealer

The only ones I knew about were the auto shut off and the hidden remote start feature. I think Toyota doesn't have a dedicated remote start button on the fob because they want people to subscribe to the app. The app also eliminates the range limitation to using the fob. Personally, I'm not a fan of the subscription model so I don't have the connected services anymore but I also don't use the auto start feature anyway. An idling car takes forever to warm up so I typically just get in and drive nicely (don't floor it or anything) for about a minute. It heats up WAY faster when the engine is under load so I find idling is just a waste of fuel and might be unnecessary wear on the vehicle (cars run rich when cold).

OMG, Thank You. I just bought a 2024 Camary LE. It does not mention the remote key fob starting in the manual, but it works. I do have the "smart key" system though.

I'm old school since I started driving in 1966. It took me until 2000 to wise up and start driving Toyotas. That only happened because my wife bought one while I was on the road. I've had my Avalon 2 years now and am still learning things about it. Most of which I like and a few I do not. I learned more today with this program.

2016 Camry Hybrid (AVV50R) No adaptive cruise control, no automatic lane change for indicator flash, no remote start, no remote window down. I'd love to go into the BCM with Techstream to see what I could turn on. I know a lot of your vids are generic for most people out there to understand, but could you do a technical video about the most cost effective scan tools, vs using Toyota Techstream lite and show us the difference between lite and the full Dealer version?!!!! that would be awesome!!!

Another good tip not mentioned here is how to restart radio/infotainment while car is on. Press and hold the radio power button for ~5ish seconds. Has worked on my 21 Prius and Tacoma. Sometimes Apple car play doesn’t want to work while driving. A quick restart fixes it easily.

Ahmed, thanks for revealing these amazing 'hidden' features ! I've got a tip for Toyota owners who want to do some DIY stuff: Carista OBD2 scanner/adapter, just $39 ! With it you'll get a fully featured free subscription for 30 days, which will allow you to customize your Toyota 😎 I used it on my 2017 RAV4; works like a charm. Just be sure to end the subscription in time to avoid additional costs😉

Probably to protect the car from theft. All our Toyota/Lexus cars can drive away without the key fob in the car after it has been started. Found out the hard way when my wife dropped me at the airport and I had the key fob, she was able to drive home with no problem.

@@azzurroday9730 When the car senses the key it should continue to run. If the key goes out of range, I can see why it would shut off, right?

I just bought a '23 Lexus Hybrid and I'm trying to understand the car. I now feel empowered with knowledge thanks to your videos so thank you! My 98 year old friend is really amazed by the features, sounds and especially the kick plate trunk release for grocery bags. She was around to see the true meaning behind horsepower from a horse and buggy to Model T and now this. :) She seems to think that I will see flying cars in the very near future and wanted me to ask you- Do you think Toyota will take the lead on this?

I’ve read that you should not use cruise control in rainy weather or slick conditions. Your tires can be spinning and you can lose control of your vehicle.
