Was born in Pasadena and went to Alhambra High in the 70’s and 80’s. Got out of there just in time. All of my favorite restaurants have Asian writing and skinned ducks hanging in the windows now.

Do you mean Alhambra or Pasadena? There are very few in Alhambra but more African American communities as you go further North in Pasadena and Altadena.

Hey Kevin, do you think it is 100% necessary to speak English to live in Alhambra? My family only speaks Spanish
@livinginpasadena
@livinginpasadena 2 жыл бұрын
Not sure. Alhambra is around 36% Hispanic but a lot of the Hispanic are 2nd generation and speak fluent English. If your family only speaks Spanish they might prefer areas where Hispanic is the majority population like El Monte or Montebello.

I was born and raised in Alhambra which at that time had a very large Hispanic spanish speaking community. Your relatives don't need to speak English because 80% of the population speaks Mandarin Chinese.

I grew up in Alhambra through the 60’s and 70’s. I’ll never understand the logic or lack thereof in building townhouses along Main Street. It’s horrible!!

Alhambra has a huge problem with Chinese gangs and prostitution rings. Better options are South Pasadena and San Marino. Alhambra has far too many rental units now, and the majority of renters are from mainland China. The city is very dirty as well.

The nicer area of Alhambra is North of Main st. San marino and South Pasadena are 2 of the most prestigious cities in west San Gabriel valley.

Your video is hilarious youngster! I was born in 1970 at the old Alhambra Hospital off of baystreet. Alhambra was a nice suburb of LA. Mostly single family homes, good schools, where everyone knew their neighbors. By the mid 80's the Alhambra City Council allowed these single homes to be torn down, condo's and town houses built while nobody thought about traffic congestion and over crowded schools. We welcomed the Asian community with open arms. In return, not welcome in most Asian businesses. Most of us moved out of the State. Essentially kicked out of our home town. That's the story of most of the San Gabriel Valley!

@@livinginpasadena It's not a common story that individuals are not only driven out of their home town but don't want to return due to Asian racism.

On 1:34 the freeway project, It's full of angry residents because of greedy developers that want to cover the views of the mountains for everyone buying anything but their new expensive construction. Might want to get the full facts before jumping into the conclusion with no concrete evidence of facts

It depends on the region of LA county. You'll see more Asian communities in San Gabriel Valley and West Los Angeles. Even the Asian nationalities will differ from city to city within the region.

People from alhambra are so rude lol I'm from pomona and these people get super scared when they want to fight and I want to fight too. All of a sudden they call police. Once, at costco we got a old lady arrested because she assulted my wife when I wasn't around. Yes, for no reason this old woman assulted my wife. The old woman called police because my wife assulted her back. Well, the police took the old lady not my wife. I visit alhambra because I have some family in alhambra. People in alhambra feel so safe that they feel you won't do anything back if they assult you. Yeah, not every person in alhambra is from alhambra like me.
