Helpful hint. Do the first flight of the day, less tourist and the pilots are more likely to set you up for the best photo shots with less people. Only thing is traffic will be extremely heavy crossing the city into Jersey. Also, if you rent their cameras, they try to make sure you get the best photos. Enjoyed your video!!

Thanks for the tips Courtney. I'm going to New York next year and I really want to fly in a helicopter. But I need good pictures and videos for Instagram. I hope everything works out with the filming. Flynyon offers special packages with a Go-Pro (handheld GoPro) and shoe selfie seat. Would you recommend something like that? It all costs extra and is expensive? I am confused and don't know what to choose and whether I even need it? Regards from Germany

Hi there! If you don't have your own stabilizer, I'd recommend using theirs because otherwise your footage is definitely going to be shaky. As for the shoe selfie seat, I feel like it's an absolute must! Even if you don't pay for the guarantee, you have fairly high chances of getting the seat unless you are unlucky like I was. So it's really a gamble, but if I were to do it again I would have paid for the upgrade.

FLYNON tours has just been convicted of neglience in the crash deaths of five passengers. "All five passengers died in the March 11, 2018, flight. Only the pilot escaped. The accident was caused by a loose, improvised safety harness that caught on the helicopter’s fuel shut-off lever, mounted on the floor. That activated the lever, killed the engine and caused the crash, the safety board found." Pilots had repeatedly raised concerns to FlyNYON’s management about the safety equipment - which was crafted from harnesses designed for construction workers, the N.T.S.B. found - including one pilot who warned that “we are setting ourselves up for failure.”

Hm I’m not sure if other folks were offered the upgrade, but I’m pretty sure that do that to everyone. And even if they don’t offer it you could just ask to change when you get there. We booked around late morning.
