Also keep in mind that a large portion of their clientele probably charter a private jet right there off that same general aviation ramp at JFK, and they certainly wouldn't want to be burdened by security. Additionally, even if it weren't for that, how do you propose the clear people through security somewhere else? The rules are that once cleared through security you must remain in a secure area of the airport. If you leave the secure area, you must be re-screened. The general aviation ramp isn't a secure area, so even if the passengers somehow cleared an official TSA screening at the heliport, they would still need to be re-screened at JFK.

We got a ride to the airport in a Maybach SUV. It was such an amazing experience.

Just take the Long Island Railroad from Penn Station in Manhattan to Jamaica Station and then take the JFK Airtrain to your terminal. You can do this for $15 or less depending on the time of day. TERRIBLE. Blade canceled our helicopter flight on 2 hours notice leaving us with the option to take one of their SUV’s for $200+ or book an uber for $100. I booked an Uber and Blade did not refund me, instead issuing a credit for future use (within 1 year) even though I told them I won’t be back in NYC within that timeframe. So they got $450 and I got nothing, apparently because my girlfriend didn’t buy cancellation insurance! So if you want the 5 min. helicopter ride, be prepared to spend $450 + the cost of insurance, so that’s about $250 a person when an Uber is $50/person. I will go with the latter in the future. Shame on Blade for having no empathy and keeping my money knowing I’ll not be able to use my credit.

This only works if you are starting near one of the heliports. The local media did a comparison where they had different people all start at the same point in Manhattan and head to jfk using various modes of transportation. Bell 407 burns about 6.6 gallons of Jet-A [Diesel] on that flight. Perhaps add a bit for approach/landing/holding. The 3 cars would burn considerably more fuel to accomplish the same task. Every car removed from the road allows the traffic to flow faster and improves the overall efficiency. This is the first time I could honestly say that a helicopter is more efficient than cars.
