Thank you for putting a video for shorter curvy women. We see so many ads or videos for taller straighter types of bodies, it can be frustrating and discouraging.

The main reason I avoid off shoulder clothing is that curvy women need bras! That’s not possible with a shoulder - revealing top.

Thanks so much. I’m 5’ and curvy. This is very helpful. I tend to let the “tent” thing happen because I feel I should accent the bust area, but these tips make a lot of sense and it’s SO HELPFUL to have someone who looks more similar to my shape.

Yeah, not liking the belt hack look for the summer dresses - still looks a little frumpy; however, I totally appreciate you providing options so that we don't have to throw out the dress. I love your insight and ideas on how to look more flattering. In fact, I plan to do a closet purge, and this helps me so much to decide what I should donate. I'm always thinking - maybe if I lost more weight - but it just might be the style itself that isn't flattering.

As a curvy(-ish) petite woman I agree with everything you say, however, I don't always want to look "slimmer"! I love voluminous cropped sweaters (and cargo pants) because they are so stylish and comfy, and I don't care if I appear "bigger" to some people. Sometimes it even can be a compliment, since I lift weights and my gains are my hard work!

For turtle neck long sleeve shirts (not sweaters!), you can minimize the undesirable effect by wearing a v neck fitted vest overtop in a contrasting colour. The V will draw the eye away. You can experiment with U shaped and square shaped neck lined vests too. It works for some people. It really depends on your body frame. The Kibbe system will give you a headache on all the different types of body frames.

Hi Chi! Can you please please do a video about a certain topic? I am a Gen Z young adult and really struggling with navigating the current clothing trends. I am somewhat short (5'4) and very busty and I just don't know what trend is flattering and unflattering on my body. I want to shop some current pieces, but don't want to waste money buying unflattering items. Can you do a video on current trends and what body type is best suited for a specific item? So which trend is suitable/unsuitable for different bust sizes, stomach sizes, the varying body shapes, etc. And some trends for example being baggy pants/jeans, low rise jeans, crop tops, tops with very thin straps, baggy cargo pants, oversized tops and jackets, short skirts, and other y2k trends. Thanks!

Thank you! I needed this. Please make more! One suggestion: could you suggest alternative styling options from within the same season? On spot! I have small boobs but curvy hip and thighs, and I can apply everything you say here, except for two points: 1. Short sweaters are great 2. High neck, especially turtle neck will indeed make my boobs look a bit bigger. And I don't even understand why those that you put on the NO side are in fashion at all: for example, here in my country a few decades ago billowy dresses and blouses were considered for pregnant women only - and I think they do look like that. 😅

The problem is you can’t find clothes for the winter season. All the examples are for the spring and summer season.
@theprousteffect9717 Жыл бұрын
Thin layers work well. If it's really cold, I'll wear a fitted t shirt with a fitted sweater (not chunky knits) over it, and a classic structured wool trench coat that nips in at the waist, or that has a belt. And even though it's covering the neck, I'll still wear scarves to keep warm, because it's winter and warmth takes precedence!

I'm 5ft, slim except for DD cups. Have considered a reduction because of clothing always making me look chubby. I'm nearly 60 now and have learnt these tricks over the years. Dark fitted tops help, and one colour all the way through makes you appear longer. Watch out for contrasting shoes that can also cut your look and make you look shorter . Good on this channel helping younger women not battling a lifetime of bad clothing choices. 😊

I’m petite, short-waisted and a (natural) 36E and I agree with all your great tips! This is another one I discovered: avoid gathers above or below the bust, they give that unflattering, bursting out look, like the stereotype “buxom barmaid”. In general, I avoid bulky, or too-tight, or high-neck tops. Especially too-tight ones, if a top (or dress) has horizontal strain lines, or gapping at the buttons, it’s too small. Bust darts really help the fit, too; a flat piece of fabric doesn’t fit well over such pronounced curves. I always look for those darts in tops and dresses.

Thank you, I'm petite and curvy (1950s type curvy, so I am slim, I mention this because so many mistake it as just plus, when it's not, it's petite/slim but just hourglass with bust and bottom), thank you for this, I'm 30DD, but seeing your model is 36D with latina type curves that's great because it'll mean although I'm European build it'll likely work as well for me. I absolutely love East Asian fashion etc. but they're very delicately built, in the sense of ...not very curvy or busty, so things that I like (inc. the baggy sweater look that's trending there) I just sadly know wouldn't look nice on me... I'm so happy you've taken into account practical issues with different body types, so many just think oh curvy means plus, and it's like, there are a lot of us who just look 1950s curvy... Thank you :)

I'm 5'3", in my 60s, not so big in the bust any more, but they haven't disappeared, either. I've lost a lot of weight over the years and look reasonably slim. However, I still have a short torso, no waistline and generally carry most of my weight and volume on the top. I have skinny legs and a flat butt nowadays. I'm not so worried about slimming, but everything seems too long. I don't like tight tops, but I don't want that rectangle look, either. I like button down the front shirts that are a little loose. Mainly because I they're comfortable and I can get by without a bra. But I'm sure it doesn't look too sharp, especially over pants that are baggy in the thighs and rolled up. These tips will help a lot when I go to town and want to look more presentable!

Your model is wearing the wrong size bra. 36 band size is for those with a rib cage circumference of 36. If D is her cup size in 36, then she's probably 32F or 30G. (Band size = rib cage in inches. Cup size = chest circumference in inches minus rib cage. Every 2 inch difference is a cup size).

Chi, I really appreciate your videos. However giving an example of a cable knit sweater or chunky high neck sweater and advising someone to wear a thin fabric knee length wrap dress instead makes no sense to me whatsoever. All your videos are great but this might be my favorite one yet, and you used clothing from your own line too! I like Wendy the model- if it looks good on her, it will look good on me 😀 Some advice once given us petites (not by you!) was not avoid belts because they cut the silhouette in half. I wonder if that accounts for all the shapeless items in the Petites department, or the industry just doesn’t care about us. I need some more belts!
@SohiHien Жыл бұрын
I think if you use a belt in a similar color to the shirt/dress it stops that cut in half look. It just provides cinching and narrowing of the waist to the shirt/dress but doesn't distract the eye too much like a belt with a contrasting color would be. So don't use a black belt on a white dress, use a white or maybe pastel color belt and it avoids contrast and therefore heavy cutoff between top and bottom.
@b.p.4250 Жыл бұрын
Agree, and the width of the belt makes a difference too. 😃
