My rules: #1. I match my shoe color to my pants. At the very least, blend them. #2. Also, my pant length covers my shoes almost entirely, so my shoes aren't terribly visible. For example, I have snake print booties, but I wear them with long gray pants. They blend. #3. For skirts, I wear shoes that match or blend closely with my skintone or tights color.

I do this, too, it really helps me look at bit taller (I’m 5’4” or 164 cm tall). In winter I wear tights and boots that match my skirt or dress, or as closely as possible. (I wear these much more than trousers).🙂

I'll be looking at flats differently now. Thanks for these tips! My tip for trench/long coat -- keep coat unbuttoned and wear a scoop/V/low neck (weather permitting). This way, the eyes see your face and neckline. Also, roll or fold coat sleeves up so that 1/3 of arms are showing.

I have skinny heels so I walk right out of loafers, heels are out. A shoe with a strap always works but they are often either juvenile or nerdy.
@littlelady7843 Жыл бұрын
I also have skinny heels and wider toe area. I could never found pump work for me as it is always too tight in the toe box and too loose in the heel. I always have to wear shoes with strap on the ankle. I am glad I am not the only one!
@alexandraeverafter1015 Жыл бұрын
Same here. I an petite with a widish forefoot but narrow heel. I walk out of loafers and pumps unless there is an ankle strap or a secure-fitting slingback. For example, I have a hard time keeping the (in)famous Everlane Day Heels on my feet because of the elastic heel; the narrow toe box squeezes my feet. Pointy toe heels look sharp but are tight at my forefoot and loose at my heel.
@annastrand51448 ай бұрын
Me too. My feet are at the line between regular width and wide width shoes, plus my big toes turn up a bit, so pointed shoes put a lot of pressure across the top and sides of my big toes, plus my heels pop out of all shoes except tennis shoes. And I have arthritis in my big toes, so low vamp shoes run right along the most painful spot. I'm so glad low heel and flats are in style this spring. I'm hoping to find something that avoids all my issues. And I can look out together and walk pain free.

I have the double whammy in that I'm petite (5'1) with what I think are big feet (and they're flat too, so lucky me! haha) for my height - I wear an 8 and find shoe buying so tricky. I did buy a pair of lug soles this year, but at least they are neutral toned. They're pretty comfy too. Thank you so much for your always helpful videos for us shorter people! :) xoMaria

Just caught this video now and really glad I did. I’m wearing a pair of gorgeous pointy toe cream colored flats around the house to break them in. I’ve had them a few years but just didn’t wear them as relocated to the tropics where I live in slides and sandals. Headed in October to a wedding in Europe and these flats are perfect for my outfit. So thank you for giving me the style encouragement to persevere through the break in period- I know they will be great as they are a lovely soft leather.💕

I love chunky loafers and things with a lug sole because they are very stable and my balance is pretty bad since I developed my chronic illness (which also causes dizziness meaning that heels are out of the question at this point too). I just find that I adjust my fashion in ways that compensate for that, i.e. make it to where my shoes match my pants in a way that it makes it one long line, or like when I chuckled when she said "no animal print shoes/boots" I compensate for my beige pointy toe zebra print boots by wearing my mid-low rise flared jeans over them and cinching the waist of my outfit by tucking my shirt and using a hefty large textured leather belt and some jewelry. I'm here for this Y2K reboot that we're currently having.

I look really goofy in loafers. Flats usually hurt my feet and rub blisters, especially on my heels...even ballet flats. I have a shorter upper body (mostly through my bust to waist and waist to my leg and hip joint sections), so I feel like I can pull off chunkier styles, especially Dr Martens for fun. And, yes, an almond shaped toe always works best for me.

I love your advice for petite dressing however I don't actually agree with the illustration at 3.24 . I think the image on the right with jeans touching shoes actually elongated the leg more as in the actual " leg " looks longer because the denim material goes on for longer if that makes sense. I think cuffing can actually visually shorten the leg in 2 ways because not only have you cut off your leg length of fabric but you create a 2nd horizontal with the actual cuffed inside out part of the fabric. It's just my opinion

Short women do not necessarily have short legs. Yes, their legs are shorter in comparison to tall women, BUT their legs are : 1. TALL 2. OK 3. SHORT in proportion to their all over height. By SHORT LEGS phrase, which one are you referring to : - In comparison to taller women Or - In comparison to their own body height ?

You keep advising wearing nude, beige or brown shoes. I loathe the whole beige/brown palette, from cream to dark chocolate brown, and avoid it like the plague. What other shoe colours would you recommend please?

Unfortunately for us petites, low-vamp shoes are dominating shoe styles right now, especially in ballet flats. I can’t imagine why designers thought this was a good idea, they make us petites look even shorter and taller woman look like their feet are enormous. I’ve passed over so many otherwise-perfect pairs because of this unflattering design. I can’t wear very-pointed toes, and flats don’t give me any extra height, of course, so I choose flats and other low-heeled footwear very carefully - low vamps and almond or elongated square toes are best. I still wear my mid-heels, 2-2.75 inches high, whenever I can get away with it. For summer, at least I can always rely on my mid-heeled Pikolinos sandals, they’re so comfy they don’t even need any breaking in. The same for my low-to-mid heeled Stuart Weitzman boots for colder weather. Thanks, Chi, you’re the best❤

So basically those working in a lab or lab-adjacent are out of luck. You have to wear closed-toed, high vamp shoes for protection. And yet the air has to be kept pretty cold so exposed ankles get very cold. And I prefer to have long tops that cover my bum in case of period accidents. So the only usable tips that might work is flesh/tan/brown almond/pointed shoes.

A belted fit and flare dress with cropped jacket or shrug and skin-tone shoes draws the eye away from your lower half. Find the length that is most flattering to visually divide you in thirds (1/3 above your belt, 2/3 below). Try high-waisted, loose slacks (dark), tucked shirt and a belt, and jacket length that hits right above the widest point of your hips. Also wear shoulder pads...it will visually offset your wider hips and give the illusion of an hourglass shape.

I went to check out the cropped beige ‘trench like’ jacket and your sizing is WAY TOO SMALL. Your size Large only has a chest size up to 39”? Very disappointing. I was really hoping your petite line might be the answer…I was surprised and disappointed that you of all people are not offering sizes for ‘average’ ( North American) size women. I am petite as in short…that doesn’t mean ‘small’. I cannot find any cropped items because when I get them in a size that actually fits my chest or waist/ tummy area then everything else is wayyyy too long and no longer cropped. Please extend your sizing. In most brands I have encountered, a 39” bust is definitely not considered a size 14. ( or even a size 12 often). I know there is no standard sizing but seriously? Just something to consider as you continue your brand. I would also prefer higher quality, more natural fabrics rather than mostly polyester. I can get that at Old Navy and don’t have to pay over $100. Just some hopefully ‘constructive’ feedback. Not trying to be mean or critical..just a bit frustrated.
