If you care from vegan / vegetarian POV, remember that tallow is used in steel rolling, so whenever you use anything made from steel, there is high chance you are using something made with animal products in the process. This affects most equipment, I'm afraid. On the other hand - both tallow and gelatin are just trash of meat production anyway, no cows are ever killed just for these compounds. Also, I’m not sure what you’re printing on, but photographic paper has gelatin on it too. As a good go-to, most anything that has that shiny clear look to it most likely is gelatin.

Most tattoo parlors I've come across have used vegan ink, it's pretty common! Heck, I got tattooed with vegan ink by a vegetarian in a shop that was run by all veggies without knowing! And you can always ask to be tattooed with vegan ink, I'm sure the artist wouldn't mind!

Yep. It's the opposite of what she is saying in this video. Tattoo ink is commonly vegan. Too many people have allergic reactions to the animal derived version, so non vegan ink is quite rare!

Soy cheese became popular for people watching their cholesterol. Lower in fat. I’ve become plant based since last October 2017. My biggest challenger is gluten. I am gluten free because I have Celiac disease. For a while I was using gluten-free bread that had egg whites which I didn’t even realize. That is why I call myself plant based and not vegan. When I find some plant based food that is gluten free, the culprit for me is usually egg white. Finally found a great vegan, gluten-free option, BeFree.. Great products..Thanks for all your information. For me because of the gluten issue I make almost all my food from scratch. The majority of prepared vegan food is not gluten-free or has cross contamination issues. If you have Celiacs that is a problem.

I'm a new vegan and I continue to educate myself on products that I can avoid using eating and it's not always easy. So I appreciate you and the information you share with everyone. It's hard not to feel guilty when you find that something you used or consumed was harmful to animals. I like what you said that we cant always be perfect and we just have to do the best that we can. I didn't know about the film. We just started feeding our dog v-dog. I guess my only complaint is that a lot of the vegan products are so much more expensive than regular items. like there is a 25$ difference in the same bag of dog food. Why is it more expensive if veganism is supposed to be cheap. I'm not giving up, we are just on a very limited budget, and some of the non-vegan products look like they are impossible for us to afford.

Yay V-Dog!! When things first come out they tend to be way more expensive, and over time as other companies pop up and more people are buying them, prices come WAY down. I know there is another company that is working really hard to bring affordable vegan dogfood to the market, hopefully sooner than later! What I would say for now, is if you can afford it, it's a great thing to do. If you can't afford it, don't beat yourself up. You could also make your own vegan dogfood using really inexpensive ingredients that you buy in bulk. It's more work but it can be done! You could also reach out to the company and see if they have any damaged or imperfect bags they could sell you for less.

They've GOT to come up with a vegan film one of these days-hopefully someone who has a passion for photography, chemistry, business and animals will start working on that! Soil is such a sad thing because euthanized animals like our pets are ground up into soil. This also happens with road kill. I personally think that this, however, is a natural way to dispose of animals that are already dead and use them to help the earth. Most animals are not voluntarily killed for fertilizer, they are already dead and will end up in worse situations than helping the planet with their bodies.

Yeah, it's a lot of byproducts from the meat and dairy industries that goes into soil-but also things like "bloodmeal" and "bat guano" (I can't imagine a way to collect that without interfering with nature, hah).

It is our responsibility to write, text, petition to all of these kind of products that do exist. I did know about all that you mentioned accept for the film. Of course it is not something that i use today anyhow. Cheese products are very sneaky and so are vegan processed packaged foods. Always knowing what the label means is part of educating ourselves so that we can pass that info to others; vegan or not. Change can happen but if we just say "oh well, i have to accept it as it is" is not what Vegans are about as far as I see it anyway. I recently talked to my postal carrier about junk mail. I asked to not leave junk mail. He continued to do it so I now left a post it " Save the Plant: Save the World, please discontinue the junk mail to my mailbox". So far it's been a few days and no junk mail. I do paperless billing ,however, some stuff comes that I have no control over, yet. Emailing could prevent that too. Always being a work in progress. I had talked to someone at the post office directly more than 6 years ago and she told me that the only way that I wouldn't get junk mail is when i had a PO box at the actual post office. I recently did see an article about the post office cutting back on this kind of mail but I can seem to figure out where i saw it. I logged onto the postal service website and it is giving me the run around. I'll continue to work on this. I don't feel that i should be contributing to more trash in the landfills. Let's do our part on as many levels as we can and sharing is always a great thing. Have a great day and thanks for the posts!

Make you own soil! Composting is easy and natural for gardeners. (Don't get stuck on how much green, brown, whatever - just don't compost any animal products except limited amounts of the poop of herbivores - rabbits, chickens, horses...)

I know this is on here a lot already, but most tattoo inks are vegan. Worked in tattoo shops and talk to my boss about this. It's actually very rare for a non vegan ink. Maybe update your video on this topic so new vegans aren't thinking it's impossible to get tattoos now. But your message to just be awear of things is good :)!!

More high quality tattoo inks are vegan! I work at a tattoo shop with vegan artists and even the ones that don’t use vegan ink just because it’s quality ink that happens to be vegan.

Yes. I completely overlooked the gelatin connection. So camera film and Polaroid. I know Buddhist monks are prohibited by their code to not dig in earth because of the living beings that are disrupted and harmed. So soil is not surprising. But you can’t be a vegan without soil. I buy little Vegan cheese but I did not that some soy cheese has casein. I go with the V symbol when buying packaged goods. I was aware of pills but what can you do. I do know that there is at least one start-up company Geltor, I think, which is working on Clean gelatin. Making collagen without killing animals. So I look forward to that. Thanks.

World of Vegan, the vitamin deal has been on my mind. I just had blood work done a week ago to check my levels on things and my vitamin D was at a 5 (normal range is 30-100) so they prescribed a high dose vitamin D for me. I asked pharmacist if he knew if it had animal derived ingredients. He didn’t know, just told me I could contact the manufacturer. I’m still trying to get the right website & info, but it is in a gel cap. Great!! Just great!

Thanks for sharing these lovely! I rememeber my mom came home with GO VEGGIE when I first went Vegan and I saw it was LACTOSE FREE. Checked back to see it had casein still. I felt disturbed. Never did eat it, gave to aunt whose not Vegan and she said it was good for veggie cheese. I said, 'Well yea. Most vegetarians will still eat cheese. Just not Vegans.' :P

Tua Blomström I recommend researching into the egg industry and watch Dr. Michael Greger's video series on eggs. - If you don't do research? In short: USDA cannot legally label eggs, 'healthy', 'healthful', 'nutritious' and other things. - As for farming industry, most male chicks are culled to see which are male and females. Since males can't lay eggs, they're either suffocated in bags and thrown out like trash, or, they are ground alive after being filed down on a conveyor belt.

The only thing i didn’t really know was the plant soil. Then again i expected it because most of our soil isn’t vegan. And animals naturally die in soil anyway, so we can make it as vegan as we can, but it really won’t be, and that’s ok. I’d still rather be vegan, and eat plants, and vegan junk food.
