Another fun fact about that final 6 challenge in Millennials vs. Gen X: Dave initially copies Jay’s number incorrectly, and I copied that incorrect answer because I was all the way on the end and only had Dave next to me. I move on last once Dave finally copies it correctly allowing me to do the same. 🤣

I noticed a quick one from Cook Islands, don't remember if it's been mentioned before. In the Barrel Of Monkeys challenge when it comes time to float the barrel out into a stretch of water to retrieve the flags, Ozzy hooks his feet to the barrel and uses the guidrope securing the flags underwater to pull himself and the barrel with his teamates in along instead of having to swim against the tide. This helps them out massively, as the competing tribe get pulled off course by the currents trying to swim with the barrel

I think I disagree about San Juan Del Sur being the death of the "Fallen Comrades" challenge. I think that episode is the death of the "chopping people's ropes until there's one winner remaining" TYPE of challenge, because that's really what they hacked, but I think a straight quiz version of that challenge could easily come back.
@violetbluejay2 жыл бұрын
100% agreed. I see where Preidiam is coming from but I think its being looked at the wrong angle in the video. When it comes to Fallen Comrades specifically I feel like V did more (unintentional) work towards its death than anyone else. Her journal was one of if not the first example of a survivor planning so far in advance for a challenge and she pretty much broke one of the go-to late immunity challenges simply by knowing it was coming. And there was a high risk of becoming like the advantage in the auction where there was a clear strategy that can't really be countered from the producers end, similar to survivors hoarding their money in the auction. I think the social strategy element of cutting the rope in SJDS was producers attempts at reviving the challenge in a less hackable way (between the unpredictability of bringing it back so abruptly, and one person not being able to run away with it like V did by hoarding info from the start) but while it kind of worked and broke V's original hack, it also exposed a kill switch hack for the "chopping people's ropes" challenge instead, turning it into bad TV in the process. And with the twist on the original Fallen Comrades now defunct, it was basically back to the form V hacked, so they put it back on the shelf
@ashen_roses2 жыл бұрын
I feel like the same production that saw someone game the auction for letters and instead of making rules to prevent it canned the entire thing would see this happen and say "You all lost fallen comrades privileges forever"
@GroverJ832 жыл бұрын
It goes to show you the difference btwn BB and Survivor,Big Brother brings in a twist meant to shake up the game and they just recycle it year after year and pretend like majority alliances haven't hacked how to work around it already. Survivor see's the flaw and how a majority alliance will work around it and abandon the challenge/twist.
@blueredlover10602 жыл бұрын
@@violetbluejay some late game challenges are basically unhackable. The fire making challenge comes to mind for that. Everyone knows that it's coming, but getting a flint and steel fire is no easy feat. It's also incredibly unpredictable. The thing about social challenges is that you're not going to have them before the merge, since you're only being against yourself. So, they have to be post merge, and that gets you to the potential of them being hacked. The early game tribes is what prevents it from being Big Brother. Several of the older "hacked" challenges could come back in some form, like Fallen Comrades, but you're asking for them to get hacked again really.

One of my favourite players ever, actually. 3. Good on him for spotting it. I'd be crap at this challenge. I can't swim and my vision sucks. Soooo...can I sit out? 'Kay, thanks. 4. Oh, is that why this died? I like the other variation on it that they did in Tocantins: "Who would you trust with your life, who hasn't lived up to their potential", so on. That variation's funny, but I guess that, if they agree on the winner, it kind of loses its teeth. 5. Just give everyone different combinations every time. How hard is this? Now that you've revealed their stand-in, though, they're going to have to change it. Those are all upper multiples of nine, which makes it REALLY easy to remember, and I'm sure a lot of Survivor plyers watch your stuff.

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but if there’s a part 9; in the episode 10 reward challenge of Samoa, Natalie and John are in cradles, being pulled by their team to pick up flags. Where John stayed lying down on the cradle, Natalie wrapped her legs around the rope and hang from it, giving her more of a reach and quite easily winning the challenge for her team

The first hack seem like a medical evacuation waiting to happen. Those poles dont look that thick or strong, I can imagine them easily breaking under the weight of a 180 pound man. If a pole broke, you could be falling 5 feet on other sharp sticks. If I were production/camera crew I'd scream at them to stop
@johnstonefield19352 жыл бұрын
Not only that, you're tied to your partner during the race! So if just one of you trips/misses and falls the other person gets yanked forward or back...face first into the tied together ends of the poles and then down into them. As opposed to otherwise everything being a step above ground level and only falling onto middle parts at worst. But yeah, either production really trusted the poles designed for people climbing over them could handle people JUMPING on top of them or no one thought of it during that.
@shadowtheimpure2 жыл бұрын
@@johnstonefield1935 I think it was more a question of the production team having no idea anyone would be that insanely reckless. Once it happened, it was better to just let it lie since you can't really 'reshoot' a challenge very effectively since the element of surprise is completely gone.

Season 1 of the swedish version of survivors had the greatest hack I've ever seen. Contestants were told to get into a burlap sack and jump around a coconut. The idea was to round the coconuts tied to a rope out in the water. But the way the host frased the challenged, led one contestant, Martin, to wait until all the others were way out into the water, before he calmly rounded a coconut that were on the beach...beating the other contestants by a country mile.
