I just discovered your channel and I am definitely subscribing. I work 8 hours facing a computer and I feel like my eyesight is getting worse. I was tested November last year with an eye chart and the nurse said my vision is 20/30 on left and right eye, and 20/40 both eyes. they did not recommend anything about me getting eyeglasses since they are really not eye experts. I just went last Thursday to an eye doctor to be properly checked because I am starting to worry about not being able to read and recognize road signs (and people calling my name from few meters away). Aside from the fact that i really have a poor eyesight, the doctor said I also have astigmatism on my left eye. My glasses will be ready in a few days. I was told I should have went to an eye doctor sooner. I will be watching more of your videos to help me take care of my eyes more. Kudos

Hi Doctor, I just found your channel. I've been dealing with severe eye strain since I began working from home (and, consequently, spending more time using computers). I tried everything: went to several eye physicians (they all say my eyes are healthy, no need for corrective lenses), tried the 20-20-20 rule, eye drops, exercises, changed the light on my devices, increased the font, etc... No matter what I do, I always get eye pain after 30 minutes using the computer. Interestingly, if I spend the same amount of time just reading a book in a really small font, I don't get any eye strain. I'm out of hope. What else can I do??? Great channel, btw

@denisemi4 жыл бұрын
Hi @@kapilsethia9284. I cannot yet say I have found a cure, but I may have found a lead to a possible cure. I have been to several ophthalmologists in the past few years because of my chronic eye strain. All of them said the same thing: my vision is fine. That's because they only measured my visual acuity with a standard refraction test. They all prescribed me +0,50 glasses, which didn't seem to solve the problem. However, a few weeks ago I went to see an Optometrist, who ran several other tests to measure different abilities other than visual acuity. She found out I had a moderate accommodative insufficiency, which in basic terms means that my eyes have difficulties sustaining accurate and comfortable focus, especially with near work, which is what has been causing my eye strain. The treatment: She added prisms to my prescription glasses and I have been undergoing visual therapy (a type of physical therapy for the eyes). I have experience improvement, but I am not 100% cured yet... I have been doing the visual therapy for 2 weeks and the treatment should last a few to several months... So I hope that soon I will be experiencing less eye strain. My advice to you: Seek an Optometrist.. I hope you can find your cure as well. Good luck! =)

I can't BELIEVE that I've waited so long to renew my subscription. Not good. I suppose this is why I've been having such eye strain lately, because it's time for a new prescription. Never again will I wait so long. Yikes! Haha! Also, my glasses have been broken for 3 years so I've been putting up with taping them, so that's probably been effecting me as well.

Since you haven't done an eye exam I can only guess that your vision might have changed because as we age so does our vision but there's some exception good genetics and a lot of eye care or your eyesight haven't change since you are the one with a better opinion than anyone in the world to get this right.

One thing I like to do if I feel my eyes getting strained/tired is look out the window, pick a point and try (not force) resolve as much detail as possible. I usually pick the peak of a roof across the street a few doors down. When I can see the texture of the tiles and the wooden eaves Ill change to a distant point, like a mountain or far off tree. Then do the same thing of waiting until I can resolve as much detail as possible, along with 'eye circles' like movements. I work in electronics, so staring at a screen then going to some tiny surface mount parts and back all day can fatigue the eyes pretty good. And the uncorrected astigmatism creeping in as I get older isnt helping... lol

I definitely have this ! Also when i cry i will get the worst eye pressure and tension migraine that usually last all day. Is that normal ?! I try my best to not get in my feelings cuz i already know if i cry im gonna have to deal with the pain all day. Do i need to see a eye doctor about that?!

i burnt my eye from heat glassblowing and I've been to several doctors they all say my eye is good but I'm having a lot of pain still on the top back of eye and bellow near my check , I'm hoping i didn't permanent damage something its been a little over a month now
@DoctorEyeHealth4 жыл бұрын
Oh my. I used to glassblow when I was in highschool. Such an amazing artform. The heat and UV light from glassblowing can cause surface damage, similar to a sunburn. THis usually resolved with medication and lubrication...depending on how severe it is. If it's is getting worse then I would check back in with your doctors. Fun fact: there is such a thing as a glassblowers cataract - from high exposure to Infrared light from staring in the kiln without eye protection.

Is it healthy to slightly press your closed eyes until you see some kind of brightness? After that (when you take your fingers off), you can see darkness for a few seconds and then everything is back to normal. I found this tip somewhere online and I find it really relaxing but I'm not sure if it's good for me.
@otiebrown99994 жыл бұрын
Of course, as a matter of optics, when at 20/50, (self -1 Diopter), you can wear a +2.5 Diopter, for all close work, (ending all strain), and monitor your slow recovery back to 20/20. Works for me, and the children of Optometrists, who support this scientific concept. This takes great personal resolve to do it. But pilots do it during their college years - because they know the necessity of doing it. Tragically, you can never Prescribe this", but that fact does not change the validity of the concept.
@DoctorEyeHealth4 жыл бұрын
So you are a negative -1 and are using an additional +2.5?
@otiebrown99994 жыл бұрын
@@DoctorEyeHealth - That is correct - as of one year ago. Today, I confirm 20/20, (and a refraction of +0.25 Diopters) by using a Trial Lens Kit and a Snellen. (Both eyes.) Thanks for your interest. These results based on science analysis created by Dr. Antonio Medina, Optometrist.

Great video! Didn't realize my brightness setting was set to 'visible across the street'. So much better now, thank you! Question: Are there any specs to look for in a monitor that can actually help with eye strain. For instance, IPS-rating, Eye-care technology, refresh rate, etc? -Thank again!

Also I always adjust the brightness of my TV , computer monitor and phone to how bright the room is. At night I turn down the backlight of my screens to the minimum and on bright days as bright as needed. I rarely turn on the lights in my house too which seems to help with night vision. I can see perfectly where I'm going without any lights turned on. A lot of the time I will have two candles burning in my living room at night though

@Steve30x4 жыл бұрын
@@DoctorEyeHealth I use candles because it's much better for my eyes than the led light bulbs and aparently it's supposed to help regenerate parts of the back of your eyes. Wether it's true or not I don't know. Buy I don't need lots of light to get around.

I love all your videos, very educational. Everytime, I watch one of your videos I learn something new. On the topic of eyestrain; I believe mine is caused by always on my cellphone with a small screen. I darken the brightness. I have sensitive eyes, blepharitis and glaucoma [ my eye dr caught it early and I am on eyedrops] My question: After being on the phone for a while I get an aching pain only in my left eye...? My left eye being weak ? Blepharitus or glaucoma triggered by eyestrain??
@DoctorEyeHealth4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and your kind comments! It means a lot to hear that, really. If one eye is pulling or stressing more than the other, it could cause eye strain on that side. Blepharitis symptoms can be similar to dry eyes as well, but neither blepharitis nor glaucoma are connected to eyestrain specifically. Thanks again
