What sucks is when your biggest critique on your music videos is the performance from the artist. Like you do everything you can to master the lighting, kill the editing and people still don’t like it. I don’t know if anyone can relate.

Ok hear me out I have a canon t6 so the lowlight isnt that good, and not having a flip out lcd screen upsets me when I’m filming video which is what I primarily wanna focus on. And If I have to switch over to Panasonic or Sony or something else so be it, I can just get an adapter for my canon lenses and still use them unless another canon camera is another option. I’m looking around 800$ -1000$ range (used if cheaper) considering I want to get a career in videography, what should I search for?Primary new focuses for a new camera are... 1. flip out screen 2. good low light capabilities 3. it shoots 120fps 4. and 4K would also be nice.

Very informative, man) appreciate. Before I thought I don't need any light on my own and I'll be just able to rent any for the particular project. But the fact is - when you need to shoot something NOW and to be creative right on location or the budget is ZERO - you better own some lights) Learn or die!))

Always found creating a story out of the video, helps. Crest a story with minim budget and minimum people works better. Can’t expect all talent to show, especially when it’s voluntary. Definitely right about lighting...it helps in every situation to create the mood.

Do you setup verses and scenes together rather than filming the whole thing multiple times or only if you have time? So like this 15second verse will be wide, next 5-10secs close ups and back to wide or something? Or get a wide and then just pick up random shots after that to cut in?

I did my one and only music video with 6hrs notice, no plan and no clue what to do... I blagged it. I was pretty happy. My downside was rushing the edit because the duo wanted it so asap. I almost walked away at one point. I re edited 4 years for myself later and it was 10x better. Features ‘Sketch’ from UK’s TV Tattoo Fixers and is called ‘Nightmares’ Oh and I did it for NOTHING - Never again!
