You guys are amazing. I've had contractors in my life after 2 homes that I own (well one has been sold now) were hit by a series of tornadoes that rampaged across a portion of Tennessee, from Nashville to Cookeville, back in March of 2020... and, boy, were these contractors terrible. Had to stay on them for the several months they were repairing and upgrading, had to call them back several times for sloppy drywall work, sloppy brick work, etc., and to beat it all was overcharged for just about everything. It was a time in my life I hope I never have to repeat. But then, where I live, in Putnam County TN, it's so typical. Construction work, roofing work, etc., they all suck. Even getting decent service from a restaurant is a gamble. I think some of it has to do with living in a somewhat economically-depressed area, people are in general unhappy, but it also has a lot to do with people/companies just not caring about delivering professional, quality work. Get this: the head guy who was supervising and running the repairs was even effing SPITTING and blowing his nose INSIDE the house, just right on the floors! OMG, I almost came UNGLUED over that crap! Threatened to fire their asses right then and there if I ever saw anything like that again. I told him also "if I catch any of your guys taking a leak in my yard an not using a Porta Potty I promise you I'll call the cops PLUS fire you". Which did put the brakes on that kind of thing, but it (the whole experience of having my houses repaired) was still nowhere even close to being satisfactory. They got a lot of $$$ from my insurance provider... and made quite a bit from me personally as well. Many of these bad companies also claim to be "Christian" organizations, you know, since my area is considered "Bible belt" territory. But in reality this claim is just a way to gain a potential customer's trust. Almost 100% of these "Christian" organizations in this area are nothing even close. Anyway, my apologies for the long comment. Just wanted to let you know that most of us certainly DO admire your attention to detail and insistence on being professional.

You are exactly correct. The details are a very important part of a build. As a locksmith I must deal with more than the lock because all the facets of a door can affect the proper function of a lock. I must ensure the door is operating properly. Many times I have to adjust the hinges. If the door has a door closer I will check that also and make adjustments if necessary. If the door has weather stripping I make sure it is installed properly. Then on top of all that I make sure my lock install looks good and works properly. You have integrity Erik. There are few out there that still do.

Good show today Erik. As usual I am not disappointed by your thoroughness. The home looks great. My brother in law in Tulsa has a cabin east of town that he uses as a getaway. The places size and layout is similar to yours. He tried selling it to me, but I don't get down there that often. Take care folks and stay healthy. Vaughn

Our first house, the hot & cold water were reversed in the bathroom. Not a big deal but it translated to a hot water flush toilet and hot water going to an outside spigot. Even a bigger deal was when we turned on our ceiling fan, it unscrewed right off the pole it was suspended from hanging by the wires. Still remember my wife on my shoulders trying to screw it back on.

All good points. It's going to cost you much more if you get the call and you have to make an unscheduled or special trip to a completed job. Plus, there is the risk factor that you will have a client that isn't so understanding as others might be. Clean windows is also high on the list, no splatter on exterior walls, no trash, no dust etc. Nothing should be "we will finish these things next week". The last thing a client wants to is pend/alter their move in plans and see the builder crew back at the property after they were told all is well. You have it figured best, do it now or do it later when you will end up with higher costs and more risk with the client.

Honestly, I wish you could pass on to all the people over there your traits. If Industries could absorb YOUR type of Honesty and Quality maybe the whole world would still like to drive American automobiles, fly in American aeroplanes, and stretch out to adopt American ideals of of freedom and democracy. I greatly admire yourself and your crew. Perfection may be hard to attain, but weak, lazy, stupid and cheap should never become the norm. Respect.

Yes, I cleaned a multi million dollar mansion in Dallas that had this. Owned by Rex Tillerson EX secretary of state former Exxon CEO now retired. No one would notice except when you get on the top of a ladder of a 10 ft door way and start dusting off what should be paint but is only bare wood and saw dust left behind. I just kinda laughed to myself, even the millionaires get bamboozled.

Friend of mine had a new house built a couple of years ago and started having an odor problem. He thought it was the water since they are on a well. It was concentrated around the closet the washer dryer was in. My wife and I stopped by to check out their new place and he asked me if I could smell it. Brand new appliances installed from Lowes out of Corpus part of the package deal with the contractor. Sure enough if you opened the closet you could smell sewage gas. I asked him if he put the washer in and he said no they brought everything at once and installed it. The discharge hose for the washer was down low and went into the wall at an odd angle and the washer was jammed against it to keep it in the wall. We pulled the washer out and the hose fell out. Those idiots took the plug out of the clean out and shoved the discharge hose in it. Sewer gas coming straight into the house. The wall box where the valves are still had the knock out plug for the drain in it. He shoved a rag in the clean out hole and said the plumber had some other stuff to fix and he would get him to hook it up and bring a plug for the clean out. Sometimes it's beyond your control.

Not a real plumber I'd guess. Only an idiot would have performed that idea.

@@Garth2011 It was the installers from Lowes. I would be suspect of anything they did.

Well l got my Barndominuin started it's very different than what KZbin videos show. The process is a very difficult experience from sewer plumbing, concrete and erection. Nobody shows all the details like ordering windows, doors, insulation installation and dealing with the metal building supplier when there's problems with the metal part. You really need to know all the details people hired are supposed to do. I must stress you must be prepared to do a lot of work yourself or the expenses will be a lot higher. Don't be afraid to do the same work another body will charge you for. Ask questions find resources for materials at cheaper price then contractor up charge. The profits they make off materials you purchase yourself. The videos are edited to make it look easy....it not you to work extremely hard.
