I should have mentioned, the only reason I flip cans is to annoy my wife (she hates that move). I've been trying to make it into a trend. The one caveat is, if you're still single... this trick is likely to backfire 🤗

My experience is that you can get work without a degree, but it is only going to help you get interviews and later promotions if you do have a degree. I have always been about learning things because i am interested in them rather than attaining certifications. My observation though is that people with certifications get taken seriously from the outset. My last SQL job, i practically begged my boss to let me write a couple of key functions to be used in queries. I ended up staying with that company for two years writing SQL code and optimising other peoples queries.

Can I say that depends on the context of a job a data scientist does not necessarily require skills in predictive modeling? I've heard many saying that a data scientist MUST require skills in predictive modeling in order to be qualified a 'true' data scientist. Just curious to find out what the end goal of a data scientist is.

If im being honest, Im perfectly ok at where im at because I work on a lot of personal projects in my free time and the plan is to have one of those take off and leave the corporate world at some point. In the meantime, Im at a decent level and pay without too many responsibilities that allow me to have tons of free time to work on my own stuff. Hey Joma, love your videos! Would you be able to talk about career paths for data scientists in your future videos? For example, bankers usually either work in IB for two yrs then move to buy side or move up in IB. How do data scientists make their career advancements?
