Had no clue about the lock exposure. This is gonna be a huge help. The lighting here in Africa is super aggressive, so I can't wait to try this out. You're the first person that has mentioned it and I've watched a ton of videos. Thanks much, brother!

If you notice any shake in hypersmooth and low light, use EV comp to -1 or -1.5 to force a higher shutter speed, the shakes are blurry frames that are a result of the gopro trying to boost the EV. Bumping ISO helps a bit, but the image can fall apart quickly! I have been using 400 max with the 7 and its been good. Thanks for the tips, I should lock exposure more often than I do, I do find the 7 hunts for exposure and white balance quite aggressively in auto.

Just 2 additions to have better results with Hypersmooth ... 1) Do not lock the shutter speed to the 180 rule - Hypersmooth needs a high shutter speed to actually word out the stabilisation it needs to apply. It's not just GoPros electronic stabilisation that suffers this - but it's one of the reasons why ES gadgets failed for bigger cameras (lookup SteadXP) 2) Use a higher ISO when you don't have enough light to make sure you get a shutter speed fast enough to make the stabilisation work (see nr 1)

Found your site while looking around KZbin for advice/tutorials after recently buying a GoPro Hero 7 Black; I was looking for model-specific info because my main reason for buying the 7 was for the Hyperlapse/Timewarp feature; I have two Hero 5 Blacks but of course they're a lot different, even the user interface. Anyway, I liked this video; its presentation and your knowledge / experience level convinced me to subscibe. I also clicked on the videoproc link and got an added bonus in that I acquired $75 dollars worth of software (lifetime license) for less than half-price ($32) and got what appears to be the GoPro-friendly editor that I've been searching for as a replacement for the now-extinct GoPro Studio. Thanks!

Great page! I’ve used GoPros since their first model, mainly for land speed racing (ie: Bonneville Salt Flats in UT and El Mirage Dry lakebed in CA’s Mojave desert) So the camera is usually mounted inside the vehicle on their roll cage, or out side attached to the window or body panels. My question is: Can you adjust focus/ exposure etc with the GoPro app? Or do I have to physically touch the screen on the camera to let’s say Lock the exposure? Keep up the good reviews, Alaska looks awesome! (I’m from Seattle but moved to SoCal in the eighties) Thanks again, Happy 2019

Very informative video.. One question, I read somewhere on the net that non original Gopro batteries don't work well and/or create some issues with the normal functioning of the camera. It was also mentioned that Gopro has installed some kind of non duplicable ID on the batteries for the camera to ascertain which is original and which is not. Is this true? In that case its better to buy original ones only??

Cool tips sir . For me As a portable charger I use the Mavic pro battery to power bank adaptor , Model PD02 , you have that in the kit with the Mavic pro include . you plug the adaptor in the battery and you have two USB ports to recharge your equipment . The Mavic pro battery have a capacity of 3830 mAh 43.6Wh good enough for 2 or 3 phone recharge or GoPro battery . same thing with other DJI battery . If you have one . have fun

One thing to keep in mind when you enable pro tune it automatically increases the bitrate which can "drastically" reduce your record time even at lower resolutions like 1080p.
