Thanks so much for this video, I thought I was the only beginner self-taught artist! I've been teaching myself about naturalist art (flora, fauna, landscapes, etc) since 2017 and I still have so much to learn. It's been a slow sluggish journey but I've made good memories and become fascinated with nature journalling and nature artwork. The turning point for me to improving was realizing and accepting that you don't need talent to do art (although it helps), art can be learnt as there are systematic techniques that anyone can learn to use (shoutout to negative spaces and lines of curvature!). However to this day I still can't draw trees and I have not learnt anything about human anatomy oops (as it doesn't fall into the naturalist art category). Tips 2, 3 and 4 have saved my life in my art learning. Often I couldn't afford to buy artbooks and I had borrowed all the relevant ones in my local libraries, so I would sit for hours at the art section of bookstores and take notes in my sketchpad until an employee chased me out!

Thanks for all your great tips! Your study sketchbook idea is great! I would not have thought to do that at all! I think a lot of people don't think to check colleges & university websites for their curriculum due to a lack of familiarity with that world. I have an undergrad degree, so I don't find those places foreign/weird/unapproachable. I know how they work. I definitely checked for publically-available syllabi, course curriculums, and even just course descriptions/titles. Super cool of you to share with others who may feel intimidated by the elite nature of higher ed and the resources they have! Also, you are very funny, lol. Thanks again for sharing so much with us

thank you for leaving such a nice comment! Yeah, I totally understand why people are unfamiliar, I was actually surprised when I found out most of my art pals didn't know about that. I hope this video can help shine a bit of light in that area. I'm also glad you like the idea of having a study sketchbook, I hope it helps 🤗💖

Great video! I'm a self-taught artist and I go in and out of phases where I get into art and then don't because I have a full time job not in art. This video is a great reminder for refreshing even for those of us who have dabbled in art before and want to pick it up again :)

@NeddyisNeddy3 жыл бұрын
@@mave_mave ouu I get that confusion. I still have a hard time sometimes. But personally, I study them one at a time at first and then try to implement what I learned from the studies while creating an artwork. Try not to overwhelm yourself and just take it one step at a time ☺️👍🏾

Loved the tips SO MUCH!!!, I love doing art studies, in fact i've kept my track this WHOLE year with daily practices 🥹(i'm so happy lol, maybe i haven't achieved the level i wanted, but i've improved a lot 😭), but sometimes i avoid just studying a difficult topic AND practicing it too... something that helps me when i feel overwhelmed by a difficult topic is to allow myself to be a beginner and accept it in order to change it :33 I love the questionnaire you put at the end, i just loved everything haha 💟
@NeddyisNeddy12 күн бұрын
I'm so glad to hear that!! It's hard to keep a routine, so good on you for sticking with it!!!🙌 I completely agree about embracing the “beginner mindset”-at the end of the day, the goal is progress, and as long as we’re improving, that’s what truly matters. I’m glad you enjoyed the video! I plan to create more digital resources like the one I shared in this video in the future, so I hope you can look forward to that 🤗

@NeddyisNeddy2 жыл бұрын
Hey there! sadly I haven't tried abstract painting yet, but it sounds like something fun I could dabble in one day. I recommend you try experimenting with different mediums and styles to see what you like, and you can look up artists online and take note of the type of art that attracts you, then try doing something similar. Don't feel the need to stick to one type of art, have fun and good luck on your art journey 🤗

@NeddyisNeddy3 жыл бұрын
Sure thing! First go to the website of an art school of your choice e.g ArtCenter, SCAD etc Next choose the program you're interested in e.g concept art, illustration etc And lastly check for the program course study. Not all schools have their curriculums posted, so if you can’t find it, try emailing the school or checking to see if it’s listed somewhere else. Hope it helps, Goodluck !
