Holy crap, I also started on the K1000 as well!! I still have it-and occasionally use it! Currently using the Canon EOS R....looking at photojournalist classes this coming fall

Nope. I have a friend that started in her 50s. There is no beginning or end when it comes to learning photography. You just pick up the camera and learn as you go, seek advice and feedback, learn a new skills, polish the skills, discover new tricks, and just keep on growing.
