Visted Bayeux in 2022 along with the D-Day sites. A nice town worth visiting and the Tapestry was a highlight. You need at least 2 days to see everything in Normandy and having a car to get around is ideal, though there are local tours running. My one regret was not visiting the British cemetery and getting a picture of the Latin inscription "We, once conquered by William, have now set free the Conqueror's native land." Caen and the war museum there are musts visits too in Normandy.

We stayed in Bayeaux when visiting Normandy in 2021 and knew nothing about it. Stumbled upon the tapestry. Loved this town and would definitely stay again. Very walkable, friendly locals.

Gosh I loved Bayeux. Our apartment was steps from the cathedral. It’s a good base for visiting the entire Normandy area. And a car is a great idea.

Thanks for another great Normandy video! From your other videos I wondered if you would mention the cider and you got it in last minute.

Aaaahh, le cidre normand! The average French wine is so so. The average French cider is divine.

This is great. Bayeux is a fascinating little town and it's PERFECT as a base for visiting the Normandy beaches. You can also get amazing crepes at that quaint little restaurant by the river.

Totally agree with everything said. I drove from Paris to Cherbourg, then down to Bayeux. A great base for day trips to the Normandy beaches, Caen and more. Great town to walk around in, have a nice dinner and sleep. You get a real feel for the country people of Normandy after the intensity of Paris. I wanted to hug everybody I met. I didn't but i wanted to.

The cathedral is amazing and a must see. The tapestry is very historic. The beaches and cemeteries are truly moving. Also Mont Saint Michel is close too and also a must visit!!!

The tapestry and the commemorative plaque commemorating Therese's visit in the cathedral were moving. The organic food in the shops was typically old-style European.

Getting ready for the 80th anniversary?? I was there for the 75th anniversary. I got to stand in the surf of Omaha Beach at 9 o’clock in the morning on the 75th anniversary. It was unbelievably powerful.

We love Bayeux! We have close family ties to the invasion and a love one buried at the American Cemetery so we go quite often.

This may seem silly, but how practical/available is it to take an uber type of ride to and from Bayeux to the D-Day Beaches? Thanks so much, I enjoy your channel!

@@tommylob1409i've never been to Germany, but living with a couple of students from there, I'd observe some of their culinary concoctions in the kitchen and I think I'd probably be a little apprehensive about the food there.

One thing that I always tell people if they’re going to be in that part of the country, for that kind of history is to go to Oradour sur glane most likely spelled incorrectly, but it Hass to do with the D-Day invasion, and it’s this absolute horrid massacre that the Germans did that it was so despicable, that not a single person that was involved in that massacre, survived the Germans to make it to the Nuremberg trial. If the Nazis think you did something despicable you done messed up! And I’m still in contact with an Airbnb host I stayed at their property absolutely beautiful property highly recommend

I think it's generally accepted that the guy with an arrow in his eye is not Harold. You have to remember the tapestry is a lot of Norman propaganda.
