I feel like you are the definition of a Digital Artist. You use every digital exclusive tool in the book! If you had to switch to a different medium, how much do you think the quality of your work would suffer? I know that I've started to fall into the trap of relying too much on digital tools as a crutch, and I was wondering if you were the same.

A cool technique I learned years ago with gaussian blur. Duplicate your layer, apply the blur, then set that layer to overlay. It will give a nice glowing kind of look. Just don't overdo it, usually a small amount of blur and then lowering the opacity on the overlay layer!

fun story about gauss: his teacher got mad at him when he was a kid and his punishment was to add up all the numbers between 1 and 100. pretty grueling, right? well, apparently not, because within a few seconds he told her he had the answer. obviously, she didnt believe him. just a few seconds for adding up all those numbers? no way! his answer was 5050, but she didnt believe him and spent the next 30 minutes adding up all the numbers only to find out he was right. how'd he do it so fast? well, you don't have to add up the numbers sequentially. gauss recognized that 1+100=101, 2+99=101, 3+98=101, etc etc, until you reach 51 and 50. there are 50 such pairs of numbers, right? 50 groups of 101 is just 50×101, which is 5050. this is actually a formula for calculating triangular numbers :) its pretty cool

Just a tip; even the "deepfried" piece looks cool, and if you enjoy how the colours look but want it to be more subtle; duplicate the layer and lower the opacity whilst playing with multiply, or overlay. I find it adds interesting colours to a boring piece.

Edit: I did look on the asset store and they have the stuff above but it's not as good as photoshops though. Disclaimer I'm am sleepy as hell writing this. If I get anything wrong, correct me, or have found ways to do what ross is saying, etc please do. Clip pro doesn't have channels the closes thing to it would be "color balance:" also I notice that the blending options on clip studios the overlay and other options are like great value versions from photoshop. There is Gaussian blur. Clip doesn't have curves but there something close to it called "tone curve" as for "level correction" idk whats that use for, seems like just another tone curve. Color dodge doesn't feel the same as photoshops...its sad idk why but it just doesn't feel right. Personally there a lot more you can do with Photoshop than Clip studios. I guess inking but that's really it, also the auto actions but ima check and see if anyone made code/ or if auto actions are on photoshop. ... Disclamer I did buy the ex/pro version and play around with it for like 3 weeks. ex does have more features but mainly for animation and multiple pages for comics and some 3d stuff. Honestly, I would buy clips for the manga stuff but that's really it and I would only buy the pro version to get the multiple pages and the 3d to line work feature. But for painting/concept work and having that ability to do a lot more freely and easily, with photoshop tools, blending options like how ross did. I would personally buy photoshop it's just easier on the mind and it's very universal and you can explore and do a lot more stuff freely, etc. Price, that's the key factor here. If you have the cash every month and are a working artist/illustrator go with photoshop, it's just better with employers too. But if your young and trying to learn digital painting, then clip pro. For manga work then I would go clipstuidos ex. But If you like Clipstudios ex or also if it doesn't affect your work/art, etc. Then stay with clip studios. But I did think the same way when I was younger. Thinking that I would only use clip and that I will never need to change my art ways/ grow and "want" to explore more art styles, methods, etc. Also only draw anime chicks my whole life. p.s "you can make good art without a high-end program but it certainly does feel and is better." sorry if i make any grammar mistakes, and sorry for saying, "etc" a lot. I have been only drawing for 5 years in photoshop and I used clip studios for around 3 years. I recently pick clip back up 3weeks ago because of cash issues. it was really hard not to say manga studios.
@mura_saki3 жыл бұрын
I think you got something backwards lol, the ex is the more expensive version, also in my experience, clipstudio feels like it replicates the feel of traditional art, especially with the oil brushes, clipstudio's main perk is thta its not a monthly subscription lol, that's the main reason I got it
@soggybubble3 жыл бұрын
@@mura_saki was tired lol, ya my mistake. I went in and change it. Also, I did explain that benefit in my rant that clip wasn't a monthly subscription and that is was a benefit that it provides. Idk I guess it's the brushes and how you and others set them up? I took my oil/texture brushes in clip and they felt the same. The argument I was trying to make mainly is that photoshop is more "open" in its ability to create art. Since you got all these amazing options, etc while in clip you don't. Also, I feel like I create better more realistic brushes with photoshop than clip. If you can teach me ( or send me a link) because I have been trying for a while and haven't been able to get it near perfect. I'm kind of short on cash and can't pay for photoshop anymore.
