Hey man, you're awesome. saw one of your videos on reddit and immediately subscribed. I really love the editing, pro! btw - another tip for remembering algs - do them blindfolded. I wrongfully trained myself to wait/look for visual cues (aka pairs, to shapes etc) which at first helped remember the alg but later were absolute hell to forget.
@CubeHead5 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot! And yeah I might have to pin this comment cause it's really true. I you look online you'll see a lot of tips about looking at pairs or looking for triggers, and whilst that might help you to do the alg at first, it won't make you faster during solves, cause the key of nailing your algs is to not think :)
@Gil_Zussman5 жыл бұрын
@@CubeHead yeah, tell that to my G-Perms. for two whole years i've stopped after the first part of the alg to look at the top face for that 2x3 block to remember if I should U or U', then did the other part of the alg.

Here is something that I created to help memorize algs, but mainly PLLs. First, I created an excel spreadsheet and rewrote each algorithm so I can see which ones had similar moves. I noticed a lot of PLLs have this R U R' U' (R' F) R2 U' R' U'... So what I did, instead of writing each move and getting rid of a bunch of individual letters for me to look at and memorize (which is confusing), I came up with a name for the reference move as TRIPLE TRINITY. This consists of SEXY MOVE (R U R' U'), HAMMER (R' F), and DOUBLE SEXY LEFT (R2 U' R' U'). I obviously came up with my own names for each individual move as shown above. So an example that I use for T PERM is just TRIPLE TRINITY + R U R' F'.

I wish I learned the best finger tricks for my algs when I learned those. I'm averaging 20 seconds flat with full pll and 40 olls. I'm going to pause learning full oll and "refurbish" my pll. By that I mean I'm going to learn the best finger tricks for my algs and look for better ones if I can. Then I'll do the same with my oll algs and continue learning them. Thanks for the tips Cubehead! You rock!

I'm not sure why everyone loves this 'bestsiteever' website. It's not bad, but having to input an entire scramble just to see which OLL you are going to drop slows your learning rate down like 5x compared to using a site that just spits OLLS at you and you just don't look at your cube but do the OLL moves on the cube (leaving it all scrambled up). The "TrainYu" website does this - it'll spit OLL images at you, even rotated, and you can spam the OLLs like 5x the rate you'd do with bestsiteever. It works - made learning all the OLLs for me not hard, and even executable at speed all from muscle memory. Remove that scramble (which doesn't add any value to your cubing) and focus on the OLL recall+muscle memory and fingertricks.

How to learn them faster if you don't know PLL yet because you're a complete beginner? I'm trying to use a trainer for OLL, but then i slow down tremendously since i either need to go back to beginner method, or look up the algorithms for PLL and slowly do those. Just spam the alg without the scramble (which generally leaves you unable to verify if you did it correctly)?
