IV used magnets to connect batteries for a quick test when doing projects or fixing stuff. Never had any problems. But saying that IV never used them permanently, just for testing purposes.

The last one i would(i will coz im going to build it later on)have the LEDs reversed, green for positive+ and red for negative - but it's a personal choice in the end.(really liked that one, and have one of those little 12v batteries and never found a project for it. Now i have).. Id like to know if the counter with the reed switch is accurate at high speeds.. but for winding coils it would be perfect.. number 2, iv made this very same "helping hands" and use it more than my proper one. I also have a large folder clip screwed to the board too for holding heavier/larger boards and stuff (Tip, a bit of heat shrink on the teeth of the alligator cilps helps to not damage parts)👍🇮🇪🙏

The idea is interesting, but at time 07:20 the RED and GREEN LEDs are with wrong resistors and will burn Green LED, while Red one will be too dim. Red High should be 220R or possibly 330R, while Green Low must be 1K, not lower than that.

Hello The earth and positive voltage detection circuit is not practical because red LED is not able to detect voltage 12 because there is no voltage difference between its two pins to turn it on because the battery voltage and the positive circuit voltage are equal and no current is established. If this happened for you, your battery had not new and its voltage had less than 12, and you probably tested the car's battery voltage, which is usually more than 12 volts and the red light is on. ​danesh hamid iran
