Again, really solid list - cant go wrong with any. They all have different ride nuances that u will want to research. After a pile of research and experience - some no compromises / suggestions, imo spending a few extra bucks for these is worth it: 1. In general, if you r getting one bike to do it all, start with a trail bike with 120-140 suspension travel. 2. If ur doing hilly terrain either get a dropper post or dropper ready. 3. Easy to overlook but make sure it has Thru axle and tapered steer. 3. Get a bike shop or a friend / mentor. 4. Tire size is personal: 29-rollover and ride great but less nimble. 27.5-more nimble but not as good rollover. My Neuron has 29 and I prefer that over my 27.5 Diamondback. 5. Regardless of choice u will likely want to tailor contact points- pedals, seat, grips. Always wear a helmet. I like Ergon seat and grips and Giro Fixture helmet but there are lots of solid options. Enjoy!

The Polygon 30th anniversary and Jefsy base are the best buys I'd say. Unlike Rockshox 35 silver or gold the Revelation (Polygon) and the Yari (YT) can both be upgraded with better internals (spring and damper) effectively transforming them into the Pike and Lyric. Rev and Pike share a chasis only the internal spring and damper separate them, same with Yari and Lyric. The absolute BEST budget bike is not available in the USA but if you have a friend in the UK then get a Caliber. Either the Bossnut or Sentry. Both top EVERY bike on this list for bang for buck value.

🤔😂🤦♂️🤷♂️ The 1599 dollar Hawk Hill is a piece of shite. Unless you're going to ride at a snail's pace and not on very technical terrain, I guess it's a decent bike. The suspension is a third-rate garbage. The brakes are decent and the wheels decent enough. But if you want a full suspension bike don't waste your money. Having owned one, after three months of riding it on north and Central Jersey trails, it is a piece of garbage. One would be better off spending $1,500 on a good hardtail with better forks and better brakes. You cannot, you simply cannot get a decent full suspension bike for less than 2500 but more like 3,000. Otherwise you will not get decent suspension components. The most important components on any mountain bike will be suspension brakes and wheels. Compromise any one of those and you are wasting your money.

I am in the market for a full suspension bike below $2500. I am looking into the Giant Trance 3 2021 (when it comes in stock) or the Diamondback Release 1 (got corporate discount that will bring it down to $1800) which one would be a better bang for the buck in your opinion?
@CobraKyle4 жыл бұрын
Both good choices. The Giant comes with a dropper post and 12 speed drivetrain, and looks like the release does not have a dropper and 10 speed drivetrain. If you live in a hilly area, it's nice to have that extra couple climbing gears. The Diamondback looks to have slightly more aggressive geometry with a full degree slacker headtube angle. I think if you prioritize downhill more, the release would be better and the Giant will feel better for day to day trail riding. If you get the Diamondback I would suggest adding a dropper and then you're good to go!
@marcsarcia55804 жыл бұрын
Cobra Kyle Thank you for your input. That helped a lot. I might go for the Giant since our terrain here calls for both climbing and downhill. The Giant would be my bet for an all around bike. Plus it already comes with the dropper. Thank you again for your help! Much appreciated.

How have I not seen this video before?? Haha I’m torn between literally all of the bikes except the polygon. I want to hit the occasional bike park and shred my local xc trails and do some gnarly stuff like drops and jumps. Thoughts? Is the jeffsy too much? Is the hawk hill too little? Trance and mythique... they’re all good options but I want to make the right choice!!!
@CobraKyle4 жыл бұрын
It's a very competitive segment! I personally ride a Jeffsy and it's a jack of all trades. I did an XC race on it....certainly not the best bike for that, but it can handle it. Done Angel Fire on it, and it felt right at home there. If you lean more towards jumping and dropping, I think the Jeffsy might be the best option on this particular list. If you are comfortable hitting jumps and drops on a hardtail, then having a shorter travel full suspension with aggressive geometry may suit you best. It will be a bit more efficient for pedaling, but at a full on bike park it may struggle just a bit. It's a very tough choice, but I think any of these bikes could make a great do it all machine. You may just have to adapt your technique depending on what you go with. Let me know what you end up getting!
@talonforeman12544 жыл бұрын
Cobra Kyle thanks for replying! I currently am riding a decade old 26 inch hard tail and I’m hitting drops pretty comfortably, but they are only like 2-3 feet haha. The jeffsy with the changeable geo is so cool and it seems to be the most popular too, I’m just wanting to demo the bike but it’s only online, And they’re not doing their on the road thing this year. The vitus has kind of gone under the radar for me and is just now being a competitor, the giant trance seems to be really good but some specs on it are a little weird then the hawk hill I’m afraid it’ll be too squirly on the dh so it seems like I have to save up for the jeffsy but I’m definitely gonna demo the hawk hill and trance thanks for the info!

Kyle, if I wanted to buy a Trek or Specialized, because that's what bike shops have around here, which one would you recommend that has more modern geometry, both hard tail and full suspension? Thanks!
@CobraKyle4 жыл бұрын
Hi Jack! Great question. For hardtails I would recommend the Specialized Fuse. It has all the features I discuss in my hardtail buyer guide video, but it was just slightly more expensive than the budget for that video. The nice thing is they offer both a 29" and 27.5" plus model of the Fuse, so you can go either route. The Trek Roscoe is similar in terms of geometry, but the only thing I don't like about it is that it uses an open dropout for the rear wheel instead of a thru axle. If I were to choose between those two, I think the Fuse would be better. Full suspension: Specialized has the StumpJumper as their modern trail bike, and Trek has the Fuel EX. If you want to get a more aggressive bike the next step would be the Specialized Enduro, and the Trek Remedy. Both companies have loads of different builds for each bike. Even the lowest end (Stumpjumper ST Alloy and Trek Fuel EX5) both have great entry level parts and features. Depending on your budget you can move up in the build and get better parts. I hope that's helpful for you!

Which type of full suspension bike do you want for jumping?
@CobraKyle4 жыл бұрын
It kind of depends on your skill level. If you're new to jumping, I would recommend more travel and a 27.5" wheel. The smaller wheels are easier to maneuver and the bigger travel will back you up should you land harshly or out of whack. It also boils down to geometry. I believe the general consensus is shorter chainstays give you a more playful/poppy feeling. As your technique and skills progress, you'll find you can jump nearly any bike. Enduro-mtb.com does really in depth reviews on a lot of bikes, and towards the end of each review they rate it's playfulness and other handling characteristics. If jumping is your main goal, then look for the most "playful" bike you can find.

I'm knew to mtb have been looking at the merida 1 20 400 is that a good choice anyone would appreciate the feed back if it's a good first choice or not thanks
@CobraKyle4 жыл бұрын
I don't know a ton about Merida. It seems component wise pretty good, but it doesn't come with a dropper post. I found a review on it, and they give it some good praise. www.mbr.co.uk/reviews/full-suspension-bikes/merida-one-twenty-400-review If you can get a bike with a dropper post, I would recommend doing so. It really helps with mountain biking.

Wondering how these bikes do with people who weigh about 230?
@CobraKyle4 жыл бұрын
They should be perfectly fine. I have some friends who are in that weight range and their bikes are holding up. If concerned, check with the fork and shock manufacturers and see the max weight on the shock as that may be the unknown variable. The frames though should be good.

@@Southernrefinish88 HTs great for xc rides, hard pack, bike packing. I've had one three years now, take it on all types of trail, even black, super fun, but my neighborhood trails are mostly hardpack or sandy so FS would be a waste. it's a plus HT, works great, weighs less than comparable FS, too, so good climber.

I’m with you Luis, with fs bikes so good and cheap (just got the amazing Hawk Hill 1 for $1311 out the door) why not. There will be some kinda bump on any ride, even the street, that will get soaked up by that fs.
