Former S&R-- people often underestimate how easy it is to become lost, even yards from a road or trail. And how difficult it is to find someone. You can walk by the same bush a dozen times and not see a jacket under it until you catch it at the right angle.
@LakeReeder
@LakeReeder 7 ай бұрын
It often baffles me when someone gawks at the possiblity of the disappearance even happening, when the area is so small or relatively clear and all that, because to me the forests are just so full of stuff, and the pattern of green, leaves, branches, twigs and such repeats over and over, it's very easy to accidentally visually tune out some important things when you were trying to tune out the unimportant things. The way lights and shadow behave in a forest enhances that subtle chaos a forest is. Take the word pattern here literally, if you take an image of a forest and make it into a cloth or wallpaper, it's very overstimulating. Now make it three dimensional and try to find someone in an unknown state mentally and physically, potentially layed on the ground in the cover of bushes. Also even areas with hills have this overlooked, mild and spontaneous inclanation like a couple feet deep holes, nooks made from roots and dirt, larger but shallow dips, "minivalleys" covered in vegitation, and so on, are a whole other complication for finding a person.
@EdrickBluebeard

@@LakeReeder there's also a lot more variety to the terrain itself than people are used to in more manicured areas. Through a sea of trees, you can easily miss the sudden plunges and shallow trenches, more than enough to lose someone in.

They're more of a myth. There used to be bears. But they've gone the way of the T Rex. It's not very likely you'll be eaten by a bear. If there's a few still out there, rest assured they're not gonna cross your path. Bob cats, that's a whole other story.

The couple with the missing child, I had heard before, and then failing the polygraph multiple times. Problem is the grandfather and the friend. Those two will not be involved in any foul play with that child, for any reason. Although having more than one of the same jacket, is probably unlikely, regardless of what investigators said. The child would only wear the one in the best condition.

For the last story considering ettore was one of the most intelligent people on the planet especially in terms of physics and stuff and seeing as how at the time all of the major world powers were trying to creat the first nuclear weapon I woulda thought that Mussolini would be more determined to find ettore than even his family unless the only reason I could think of for y he didn’t seem too concerned with finding was because he already had him and that’s y he “disappeared” and Mussolini was keeping him and maybe other scientists hidden somewhere and forcing them to work on making the bomb

Occam's Razor seems to point at this "tired" old man that went for a walk with Stacey. I think we've heard enough stories of women who misjudged a creepy old man's strength. And how many old men who get tired so easily go on some camping retreat? Not sayng it cant happen but on this kind of trip? Its fishy the more you look into it.

@@OnMyLunchBreak07 I've never wanted to believe in an abstract conspiracy, like speculations on what happened with him.... Did he get contracted by the U.S government , to work on the secret, secret projects. Maybe he's behind UFOs. Did he invent some form of travel? And just dip out... for some reason? Why? Fascinating regardless, imagining what physics would be like, had he not disappeared.

It seems more likely to me that Ettore, a multidisciplinary, knew that the direction the world was taking would lead him to be complicit in horrible things. Often the more aware you are of the world, the more susceptible you are to depression and existential crisis. Knowing his own capabilities, I can see how he may have died knowing it was the only way he could truly remove his knowledge from a world that would seek to use it to commit atrocities. His interest in metaphysics could be happenstance - for a lot of STEM focused people, the metaphysical and paranormal are fascinating because the represent an unsolveable mystery. When your life is spent pursuing things with complex but definite answers, it is nice to have a reprieve where you don't have to come up with an answer.

Wow I just heard the first story yesterday for the first time. After listening to the details a second time it occurred to me that.... because it was super steep and the searches commented on how they were amazed that she was able to hike down to the creek & then back out barefoot. Combined with the fact that she told her friends that she would be back by midnight. I propose that she did have difficulty hiking into and out of the creek barefooted. She knew it was getting late and she was cold and tired & didn't believe she could make it back before midnight which led her to asking someone driving down that timber road for a ride, which would have been quick & easy in a vehicle. Unfortunately for her she approached a wolf in sheep's clothing or someone who had been a normal citizen up until that point but acted extremely opportunisticly possibly for the first time in their life which could be why she initially didn't have a bad feeling about them & willingly got into their vehicle. I guess Will never know unless she shows up again to tell us otherwise or the person gets caught somehow. Being a musician myself I found this story extremely heart wrenching as from everything I've seen and heard so far she appeared to be a beautiful soul. May she have found rest, peace & happiness by this time. And if the person is still out there, how dare you be so selfish to take what isn't yours. Turn yourself in & give the family whatever closure you can. You don't want to go to the other side without showing any remorse or contrition.

I've heard the story of Stacey Arras from numerous creditable sources and I've never once heard anyone provide the name of the old man, nor have I ever heard that he urged Stacey's father to begin the search for her. Could you please provide the source for these statements? Also, the lens cap being found was not cited in the police reports nor in any contemporary reports on the case. They in fact claimed the opposite, stating that not a single trace was found. The lens cap suddenly came into being much later, I believe in David Paulides' account. Also also, she was wearing her boots when she left. When she first told her father she was going to take pictures, she was wearing her flip flops. Then he told her she should probably change into her hiking boots and she did. The official missing persons flier from the National Park Service specified that she was wearing gray hiking boots.
@jamesknapp64
@jamesknapp64 8 ай бұрын
Yeah, the man's name is unknown it seems and the lenscap seems to be something Paulides has made up. Of course Paulides could have interviewed someone and they misremember and said they found a lens cap. But David's work on other cases makes his contributions here called into question.

I saw the documentary about little Deor and the grand pop said he was asked to keep an eye on him for a few minutes, grandpop said he was there one minute and looked away and he was gone . Also this account doesn’t mention much the fourth person camping with them who was a creepy younger friend of grandpop who claims he didn’t know him very well . Why would you invite a guy with on a camping trip with your family you didnt know that well . 🤔

Agreed. Also, it was never mentioned in the documentary that DeOrr’s parents had walked away because they were having an argument. In the docu the Mom and Dad state they walked up to the creek to fish and asked Grandpa if DeOrr could stay with him, to which the GP said he agreed to watch him.

The first story feels like she wanted a cleansing bathor healed by nature that kind of thing but it turned bad as she either slipped during the bath or ended up in a hard to see place while resting. Hypothermia probably got her and a week is more than enough time for scavengers to go through the remains. Wonderful stories this channel has consistently suprised me with fresh stories over and over again. Greetings from sweden.

Her footprints and scent stopped on a logging road. My theory is that she was freezing and flagged down a passing vehicle for help. They saw a young and attractive naked girl, offered her “help,” then kidnapped her. They could’ve done awful things to her, then dumped her body somewhere. It would make sense with the tracks and scent just stopping all at once. She wouldn’t have been found because no one would be looking where this criminal opportunist dumped her body.

I keep thinking of Maurice's case... Since they were digging for minerals, would it be possible for him to have been swallowed into a small sinkhole? It was stated the search dogs kept going to that spot.

What if Maurice was swallowed up inside the sand pit? Like couldnt it have caved in then cover itself back up,that right there is probably what happened,cause i mean its a sand pit if it caved in fast enough and quick enough wouldnt be able hear anything at all. I wonder if they ever thought of that?

Lots of things. The weather can change REALLY quickly in a lot of places, which increases your chances of being killed by the elements. This can also lead to evidence of what happened getting swept away quickly. The sheer scale of national parks means it can be easy for people with ill intentions to find victims, then slink back into the shadows. And of course, there's always the possibility that someone can run afoul of a wild animal.
