“Kids today don’t know how easy they have it”… I needed this video as a kid in the 90s, I had no fishing guidance. I embarrassingly nose hooked unweighted tubes & pork trailers, no clue about rigs or jigs or techniques 😂

Yeah, a lot of folks take that for granted. Just like anything, learning is the beat part of the journey!

One of those rigs I have but never end up throwing. I will certainly give it a try this year in honor of ol’ Debo! Always a solid video from Debo’s Fishing

Thanks, Debo. I didn't throw tubes very much in 2023. I will be trying some of these ideas in the spring.

Great video! One of my first confidence baits was a Gitzit finesse tube. Then moved up to bigger Venom tubes (great baits!!). Then kinda got away from throwing them-until a smallie trip on a Northern river. Wow they caught me 50 fish on one 4-hour float trip. Now gonna start throwing em in my local ponds.

I like the tubes with the solid first quarter of an inch in the head because I use a Trokar TK190 tube hook that way you can flip it weedless and you don't have to re tie every time you need to change tubes

Hey Devon, I'm glad to see you getting back into teaching the basics, it's always a learning oppertunity to see how others fish certain lures, certain ways, I know a few years ago when I 1st started watching you, I learned some very valuable lessons, and I still pick up gems from you in most videos, with the fishing sport constantly growing, your how to's will always be relavent ! keep up the good fight.

Randy Blaukat also cuts his tube to reduce the plastic the bass needs to go through to get to your hook. This is a great video. I just bought a bunch of tubes and look forward to fishing them, especially the stupid tube. Thanks Debo.

In the 90's, tubes were my #1 bait. Like you said, newer lures came out and they got set aside. Thank you for the tips, going to use them next time out. Really like the cut trick, should up the bite/catch ratio. Also the ned head. Thank you Debo.

Hey Debo….great stuff as always. I’m a big tube fan and two other ways I enjoy to rig a tube is the Shaw Grigsby HP hook and an internal weight system he had. Needless today I’m probably your dad’s age this was quite a few years ago. They also made and internal flat gitzit weight that you insert then put your EWG hook thru it to hold it in place. Both weightsare internal and give the tube a different action and it still weedless. I still use both set ups today with great success. Thanks for the video!!

Thanks for the tutorial. Ways to fish tubes seem limited only by your imagination. I'm in San Diego and use tubes in our local bays and bigger ones in the ocean. (And lakes obviously) A rig thats worked for me is stuffing a foam ear plug, or 2, in the tube. Then fishing it Carolina style through the eel grass beds in our bays. The tube can glide along over the grass. And it floats up during pauses. Theres probably times this would work in lakes as well. Might be good an the free rig too

Been fishing a 2.5 and 2.75 short shank tube head rigged stupid tube for smallmouth here in Kansas the last couple of years. Not sure if it's because not very many people use it or not but it's been extremely effective and pretty snag free even in the rocks.

fish almost exclusively a 3.5 inch tube. texas rigged. pitches, casts, flips great. usually with 1/8 bullet weight. toughest part of making it work is finding the right sized EWG hook. the old mustad megaLITES were excellent. best fit I've found now is the VMC heavy line 2/0...
