I like the idea of the pipe assualt rifle being the commonwealth's answer to NukaWorld's Handmade Assault rifle - or rather the civilized wastelander's answer to not having an assault rifle

Very Wastelander answer. It's not even an Assault Rifle, it's spitting out pistol casings and makes very little sense. It's more of a PCC (Pistol Caliber Carbine.) Wouldn't do much against the armored nature of the creatures of the Commonwealth. If you can look the other way on all that, then it's not a bad mod overall. Has some Lore-friendliness, despite a bit of a lack in immersion. But hey, Bethesda has a "Combat Rifle" that shoots a .45 ACP pistol round, yet has a 5.56mm (or the small .308 mag from the Hunting Rifle), and has the range and damage of 5.56mm to boot. And don't get me started on the ".50 Cal Hunting Rifle" or creation club "Anti-material Rifle" that fire .50 BMG yet have a mag size almost too small for .308. Drop one of them on the ground and a .50 round next to the mag and you'll see that hilarity. Although it will probably ruin both those weapons for you, so fair warning. And the "5mm" Minigun drop rounds and casings that are larger than a .338 Lapua (around 8.6x69mm or slightly larger.) Don't mean to be "that guy" but after 4,500+ hours of Fallout 4, you tend to start noticing and/or nitpicking the details and developing a lot of pet-peeves. Hopefully Beths weapon logic is much better and more realistic in Starfield. K, I'm done ranting, haha. Thank you modders for bringing immersion and variety into the game and keeping it's life-span near infinite 🍻

@@PapaTroll86 A pistol caliber loaded into a long gun does have some advantages. Most of the enemies you fight in the FO universe are wearing very little armor (or very ineffective armor), and there aren't very many naturally-armored foes out there that would reliably shrug off a .45 (if actual physics were involved...anyway). In addition, the .45 ACP packs a fair bit of kickback, so the larger and heavier frame of a long gun would allow for much tighter grouping for automatic fire (like the difference between the Thompson and the Colt 1911...both chambered for the same round, but one of them can burst with decent accuracy). My biggest problem in the base game, in regards to guns, is how low the damage is on the Thompson per round. Like...damn, I feel almost like they made them pack the punch they should have, then employees kept running the Valentine Triggerman mission until the damage reduction they gave the things was enough to make the mission very easy. For fuck's sake...the pipe weapons chambered in .38 Special have a higher base damage than the Tommy, until you make them automatic. The .45 ACP has nearly double the energy of a .38 Special on average IRL...I still can't get over how dirty they did the Thompson in this game. They gave it the damage you'd expect IRL from the American 180 rather than a Tommy Gun...and that weapon was way better in FNV than the Thompson is in FO4.

Frisbee mines are my go-to mine mod. Turns mines into a super useful utility as you can place them far away for stealth. In front of you, or use it as a impact grenade. Great mod

I have had the Advanced Plasma Pistol in my load order for years and I have loved it! It looks very lore friendly and I love it when mod makes take ideas from Fallout's concept art and make it into an absolutely amazing mod!

I've seen boots used as stocks, shovel handles, and even guitar necks... but I've never see anyone make a stock from a crutch which, to me, would make an ideal makeshift weapon stock.

To be fair, the shovel stock is actually a real thing, and likely the actual inspiration for the handmade rifle. A dude on the AK forums made an AK from a shovel, smithing the shovel head into the receiver and then using the handle to make the stock

I’m actually very happy u covered the advanced plasma pistol. I’ve been on the fence about that gun for a while now but hadn’t seen it in any footage, and I was worried that it’d be too big and clunky like it looked in the Xbox mod photos. Seeing it in ur video gives me a much better idea of the scale of it and has convinced me that it would be worth the download for my energy/plasma weapons bos playthrough.

The size was absolutely a motivator for making it in the first place. It bothered me a quite a lot that the vanilla Plasma 'Pistol' was just the massive rifle with the stock chopped off, and I wanted more of a proper pistol. Dak should have an older video that covers it more thoroughly if you wanted to see more.

The Advance Plasma pistol has been a part of my load order ever since I found Jkruse05 Nexus page thanks to your video on weapons from Fallout Tactics. It looks like a proper pistol unlike the oversized vanilla version. The MAS38 fits pretty well with older retro style that Fallout 4 went with for most it's weapons. But I can't help but get triggered by the magazines being taped together the wrong way. The first weapon I was issued was the m/45 SMG (Swedish K to you armericans) and it was drilled into us from pretty much day one that you never taped magazines together one up, one down since that not only made it quite hard to shoot prone properly but it also meant that you either damaged the feed lips of the mag or got dirt and debris into it = jammed weapon. The proper way was side by side with a casing or even a broken twig added to create a "V" shape with the mags. Too heavy for everyday usage but great for close assaults and trench clearing training.

to be fair, it doesn't really matter that the MAS-38 is a French gun and wouldn't be seen in the Commonwealth that often because in the Far Harbor dlc the Radium Rifle is modelled off of an obscure German WWII-era rifle that wasn't abundantly manufactured in the first place (the Volkssturmgewehr)

Got a request for ya Dak. Know you got your own roadmap so idk if you’d be able/willing but as far as I know, there is no gauss minigun mod in this game. Would you be willing to try to make one or alternatively pass the idea on to other modders you know? I’d imagine it’s just a bit of custom textures, sounds, and maybe a new reload animation if needed but I have no idea how to mod so idk. I’m kinda amazed that nobody’s made this mod yet, easily one of the coolest guns in 76, maybe even fallout in its entirety.

Quick question - building a load order with a lot of mods you recommend. Literally only adding overhauls to factions (militarised MM, Gunner Extreme overhauls etc.) And various other bits and bobs but keeping the main game to the vanilla feel. BUT I am adding a stack load of weapons - would you recommend using a bash patch? And if so, do I just use the LVL list part do I use the other one aswell included in the bash patch? My memory fails me on what it's called but I believe it's about static objects placed by mods etc. Hoping to start actually playing tomorrow night as spent nearly a week in my spare time sorting my mod list out.

I think the Better Goodneighbor nod is very underrated, atleast on Xbox. On Xbox it only has around 500 favourites and three 5 star reviews, but its a good overhaul mod that was recently ported to Xbox. (Im aware the Nexus one is popular, but on Xbox it isn't despite it being such a good mod)
