I think i have an idea for a new game. See, maybe all the land alterra owns would have to be quarantined, so they could cure all the kharaa, and finally stop it. However, they set up their own laser towers to shoot down other incoming ships, just like he precursors did. But everyone in the quarantine dies off. The story is just like the first subnautica, but instead of the ocean, you could go planet to planet like in no mans sky. Idk, food for thought. Subnautica is my favorite game of all time, bit it would be cool if we could see more than just planet 4546b, and see the kharaa bacteria’s danger throughout space.

The most Unsettling fact about Subnautica is that you're in a Alien Planet... people were once alive, while Ryley was knocked out. When Ryley wakes up, nobody is alive. Everyone is dead, and that makes Ryley feel lonely throughout the entire adventure of Subnautica. It's kind of sad for the fact that, if Ryley never got knocked out by *that flying circuit board at the intro of the game*, Ryley could've met the survivors, possibly save them from certain disaster earlier on.

Oh drat, I knew all of these XD My unsettling fact is that Yu would have almost certainly seen Berkeley die. They were in the lifepod together, but she's the only one who makes it to the island to meet with Keen. She says, "We can't be the only two who made it." If she knows that, she knows Berkeley is dead, and given that they were JUST together in one of the most dangerous biomes, she most likely witnessed his death. No wonder she's so desperate to get back to the Aurora! She probably feels responsible for his death. If they can find anyone else, maybe, maybe it'll be worth it.

if they were really 500m down, he could have very well just died from nitrogen narcosis or the bends or drowning :( he was just an engineer, we don’t know if he had the skill set to be able to navigate in the dark at 500m, and he could have gotten confused and made a fatal error, and since yu messed with their oxygen in the first place and they had so little oxygen left, she might not have had the oxygen to go back and set him right.

Someone actually wrote some really good dialogue for what could have happened after the game. I'll have to find it and reread it to check, but from memory, it's an Alterra employee (I think one of the lawyers) arguing to himself the points for and against whether Ryley should have to pay the debt

Being a game that is set in a world where deep water is the main space, it must has been hard to find only 5 unsettling facts. I do like the idea of the precursors aidding humanity (and other extra planetary civilizations) though. Maybe those were the gods past generations worshiped. Or they could be the reason why there is life in countles planets. Or why there is not life left on others... In or outside the game, this is a concept that I enjoy thinking about.

My favorite running gag is that I'll say Subnautica is a perfect game with no bugs and immediately list some of the greatest bugs that have happened. 1. A wreck didn't spawn in that yet so I scanned the items and drowned inside when it spawned (worth it). Air pump glitch where you pick it up while on the surface of the water on top of it and it sends you flying. 3. The greatest of all. 2 reapers spawn on my friend near the Aurora. He goes inside and they levitate up the lamp following him. He makes it to the engine room and saves... They somehow clipped through every way/doorway and he's now trapped in the engine room with them. I love this game.

Well... This was very interesting to listen too, especially with how the Sea Dragon is going extinct. I had already figured that what with the last one to have laid eggs having lost them to the Precursors, but I didn't realize that the Aurora's crash had also played a part in trapping them underground. Truly upsetting since of all the leviathans, I adore the Sea Dragon the most, (as well as absolutely fear it.)

Still wanna know what the preconditions of stimulating terror in human are of it it's just a star trek reference. Edit: Diamondhart on r/subnautica gave it a go: 1.) Dim illumination - Specifically not total darkness. It is lit, but just enough to provide the suggestion of vague outlines, no details. 2.) Three primary colours - One can be any light colour, the other any dark colour, but the third must be some specific shade of Red, usually blood-red. 3.) Disembodied/vague sounds - Basically any sound without a readily determined source, especially those that can be likened to "unsettling" sounds (ie Growls, roars, scuttling, wispering voices). 4.) Organic Shapes - Strands, pods, bulges, or other such "Organic" forms in objects not considered "Organic", such as stone. Includes anything that evokes a "Is this flesh?" response. 5.) Unexpected tactile sensation - Misplaced warmth/cold, Something appearing rigid actually being soft/slimy, and the reverse. 6.) Monsters - Either imagined monsters conjured by other stimuli or literal preditors in the enviroment. Either lends to a sense of danger and hyper-awareness. 7.) Phobia triggers - Basically anything that triggers a phobia in the individual in question. What precisely the trigger is remains unique to the individual, but the presence of such triggers is universal. 8.) Disorientation - Becoming unable to navigate your own enviroment, either though poor illumination, replication of or lack of landmarks, or some other means. In particular, the state of being unable to locate danger or identify a path away from it. MavVvs a few comments down suggested 9.) Isolation.

The sea dragons can probably access via the mountain corridor, as there is an alternate enterance to the lava zone from there, and it leads directly to reapers Edit: although there was a hole to the lava corridor in the beta, there isn’t any evidance there was ever a hole there lore wise

I have played subnautica the day it came out in very early 2016 and I remember all of this and it's so scary looking back on it. The most scariest thought back then for me was realising how dead the planet actually is, it got scary when realizing the PDA says the dead zone supports the biggest biome on the planet and its dead besides leviathan and microscopic animals. Seeing how the ghost leviathans eat large animals and not microbes, when they die it's going to be even deader scared me

The Ecological Dead Zone is a reference to the same thing in Earth’s oceans, deepwater biomes where the only two things supported are plankton, filter feeder leviathans like whales, and the theoretical predators of whale-niche organisms (like sharks or bigger unseen mystery creatures). Point Nemo is in one of these locations. (It’s theorized that the Abyssal Plain below is very rich in nutrients from the marine snow, but this only supports a small biosphere.)

I do want to mention that there’s still a sea dragon egg in the primary containment facility that might still be living. The sea dragons almost likely reproduce asexually as the sea emperor does and they’re most likely close relatives. There’s still some hope for those beautiful fiery beasts.

Honestly, I couldn't imagine Subnautica with guns. Even though the circumstances that brought them to that decision were horrible, it was still probably the best decision. Game would be a lot less scary if I could just roll up on a reaper with an M249 SAW.

Hey TLB!! Loved your video!!! It was very entertaining and I also learned a few new things about the lore which is always great. In case you ever make a video about Skyrim, here are a few spewky things about the game: In Solitude, in the king's (or rather queen's, now) court there is a woman who was a teacher to the (now dead) king, and also a teacher to the (now dead) king's father, yet she looks really really young. She also never sleeps 🙂 that and a few other disturbing facts about her, like the fact that she doesn't show up when using the "detect living being" spell (vampires are undead), made the community suspect she's a vampire. In Ivarstead there's is an NPC who was left out of society and went insane after the death of her sister. Turns out he's a werewolf. Her sister died in the river while foraging. Well there's a quest to bring this man some rest of mind, to recover his sister's pendant. You find the pendant right next to a skeleton at the bottom of the nearby river, with no signs or any kind of weapon, like an arrow or a knife, and she died in a really weird way and place, right next to the village, so bandits are out of question. People theorize that this werewolf NPC killed his sister and ate her in a burst of madness due to the full moon, and when the full moon cleared and he realized what he had done, he went insane. This isn't so much spooky as it is sad. A man died during a volcano eruption (the eruption of mount Vvardenfell). If you loot his corpse, he only has a written note dedicated to her wife and get a side quest to deliver the message. It's really sad and beautiful to read it and give that woman peace. Just research the whole origin of the falmer. That's a horror story in itself, and also extremely interesting. There is a weird dude in Morthal which people in the city think he's dealing with the dark arts. This guy sneaks out of his home every night into the forest, goes to a weird ruin and performs some kind of ritual. He can also cure you of the vampire disease by offering a human soul in exchange. And as if that wasn't enough there is a spooky ghost in that forest which you can follow around until you reach his corpse. People still don't know what's the deal with that ghost but we suspect this warlock dude has something to do. I know a few more things like these, both about Skyrim and other games, so if you are looking to do some research be sure to hit me up and I'll probably have something for you.

The PDA also says “Biodiversity in this region is unusually low, cause unknown” when you first enter it, which hints that the Sparse Reef may have been a tropical haven in the past, before some sort of event reduced it to a wasteland, much like how the Dunes was likely more lively before the meteor hit, and the Aurora destroyed whatever the Crash Zone used to be.

tbh the sea dragon is just an embodiment of "humans wont put effort into conserving anything that isnt cute or cool" which is an irl issue with helping endangered animals. it gets genuinely exhausting how many people talk about wanting rewards for killing leviathans like thats not a member of a species thats low in numbers by design and like its death wont have a major impact on the ecosystem. look, i know its just a game, but games are Telling of peoples irl attitude towards things more times than not, and going out of your way to kill something when you can just move and not be bothered by it? tbh it makes me wish that unknown worlds never added the drill arm bc without it just about the only effective way you have to kill things is the survival knife and having to slowly slash away at a reaper with nothing protecting you from it would probably help deter the average player from deciding that a species that scares and inconveniences them has to go regardless of the impact on the ecosystem this is why wolves got killed off in places, and im pretty sure we all know how that went (and if not, im sure googling the wolves of yellowstone will help)

The devs adding a tool to be used for drilling is just that, it's a tool, they shouldn't remove something from the game that has no real intention intention killing, people are the issue, you can use anything to kill, heck some people use the Seamoth as a ram, so should the devs remove it too ? Whatever the devs do people will always find a way to use things like weapons, weapons themselves aren't dangerous or can kill, it's the one who uses it with the intention to do so.

Scariest thing about this game for me is when I'm somewhere that feels like a leviathan should be there, but it's not and I can't help but feel even more scared with the ominous atmosphere without some big fish trying to kill me, it really messes with me the open areas without leviathan screams which I think is arguably scarier then the leviathans themselves.
