Anyone who thinks you cannot get lost or lose your bearings in flat areas like where you are at have little sense or have never been in such an environment. Our area in Tennessee has mountains and once over a ridge, it is possible to get lost, but at least you have some peaks and elevation to reference your location. What I have found in hunting in different locations is that the flat areas are easier to lose your bearings and get lost because you have no peaks or reference points. It is easier to wander in circles because everything looks the same if you just turn around. Your advice about keeping some survival gear while out is sound and reflects common sense.

Your videos are about the best of their kind, Lars. All of the items you mentioned hit the moose-eye. Thx! I think your pistol may actually be even more useful than you think. Not only could it scare away an unwanted beast, but it could bring human assistance in an emergency. I remember you had a video where distant gunfire got your attention and you investigated. A 12 gauge flare-gun like we use on recreational boats around here could be even better, altho most here would not use it on dry land because of the risk of wildfire.
@brettlaw9204 жыл бұрын
You can also whittle a piece of wood to act as a support for the Firefly if you don't have a second knife. Just strip the bark off a stiff piece of hardwood. Do that with any ferro rod that is near the end of its lifespan for emergency use or to get the most out of it. As far as equipment free survival, I would say you live in a death zone. Without the right equipment, a human will die. The only reason relatively primitive cultures could survive there is they had already mastered the foundations of cold weather survival by the time they got there, and they brought tools and clothing with them. Even then, they would still die under exceptional conditions.
