a quite useful tip when stealth extracting solo is to use your grenades , when you see a patrol getting near you throw your grenade far away from you ( maybe even over the patrol from where they came from ) they'll then investigate the explosion and move away from you giving you time to reposition if needed :)

So that "soft alert" status is what's happening to me a lot when playing with my friends then. They would aggro a whole town of automatons, and once they succesfully fled, they would turn back and chase me who was prone clearing the other side in stealth, far from them and behind 4 rocks of cover. Actually good to know and in a sense, validating that I'm playing quite nicely stealth, and it is just the enemies going full on bazinga mode once in a while. I'll sleep less stupid today, thank you !

A developer said that the soft alert is designed to try to lure the players to fire back mistakingly assuming that they think the enemies know where they are. They also destroy objects in the vicinity for the same purpose. It also tells the players where the enemy believes the players were last seen.

It is clear what the soft alert is for; but it is currently bugged in the implication. Instead of targeting the last known location vaguely; they do actually know the players location; and the rocket devastators accuracy is pretty insane for shooting blind.

Your level of research into espionage is absolutely wonderful to watch. Keep these videos up, especially when we get our new sniper rifles! The diligence is a testament to an underrated stealth weapon that can fire relatively quietly from afar and both not make noise nearby or at the target's position. Hoping we get more snipers like this with longer range.

If you are able to coordinate with your teammates for extraction, here's a tip Drop all your samples at extraction and only pick them up when boarding There are so much death from trying to pick up samples from bodies.. Similary, drop your samples outside a base before raiding it. Ragdoll physics of dead bodies can make your samples drop at very messed up locations otherwise :DD

The jump pack is very useful for stealth extraction. Quite a few extraction sites have large rocks you can jump onto and go prone putting you far enough from most patrols to be undetected. I use this frequently when solo even wearing heavy or medium armor I am able to remain undetected until the pelican arrives and quickly jump to it (usually all patrols wander away before it lands).

There were a few games in my last stream that we only extracted at all thanks to my teammate bringing a jump pack and me grabbing an extra before extraction. I wouldn't personally take it however as someone who brings in no backpack to use after i'm done with my Spear, It's nice to grab a spare Jet Pack off a teammate.

@@EravinVT Jump pack is pretty much my go to. I use it and the flamethrower. I can jump over my fire patches to lure enemies back through it and I primarily use the flamethrower to deal with chargers and jumping over them or up cliffs is more reliable than trying to dive past them.

When your extraction timer hits zero but before the pelican lands, everyone leave the 50m radius. The pelican will hover in a holding pattern over the extraction point and continue shooting until the area is clear. Once you get back in 50m it will land. This is not a bug, the pelican has dialog to go along with this state. I don’t think there is a limit to how far you can go out, but I haven’t pushed my luck

Gota say man, you are awesome because you give the most.comprehensive and consistent guides and tips on figurinf out stealth in this game. Which is frazy considerjng i must have over a thousand hours in mgs5 both the single layer main game and the amazing Forward Base invasion and defence pve/semi pvp stealth missions. But this game is drasticly different in everything but a few awesome almost identical animations like the dive and the way you roll around when you aim while laying down, i believe crouch is similar as well as some of the climbing and aiming animations

Another tip when it comes to stealth extractions - you can choose to let the mission timer go to zero to have the shuttle automatically summoned. It will countdown even if your not within 50m which means as long as you get to it before it automatically leaves your in the clear.

Problem is alot of the time when you go into overtime the enemies will bot drop the extract point repeatedly, or begin soft locking late in the timer for no explainable reason. Didn't mention it as it's not a situation you really want to be in.

There is a small exception to the one bug breach/bot drop. Yes one does happen at a time. Unless a player is killed. That sometimes resets the timer.

Great video! Speaking of stealth, did you know that it's possible to plant sneaky hellbombs on some automaton objectives like bunkers or detector towers? You can destroy them without shooting a single round

I want another map like the Creek. Small forest with rock outcrops, low grass with low lying water ways. The Creek was popular as it allowed stealth to be very viable because of the particulars of the map.

Have you ever thought of using EAT17s as a bait drop? Their 70 second cd and the ability to lure enemies to the drop site seems quite useful to direct enemy pathing That’s not to mention the EAT17 itself as a cheap and easy AT solution, also lets you snipe some objectives across the map.

No because dropping strategems to lure as I mentioned is pretty unreliable, they don’t always care about them and for automatons especially where I utilize the majority of my tips I have no space for EAT, covered in my load out video 😊👍

@@EravinVT I see, everyone has their own ways of playing stealth I guess. EATs are a staple in my loadout whether I go loud or stealth. They don’t work as lure against soft alert or guard enemies, but enemies on patrol can be realiably put into investigative mode by my EAT drop to my experience, which makes them ideal for me to lure patrols away from me. Also great for sniping objectives and buildings, far enough away that you don’t pull aggro.

So in my experience with stealth, I am not sure if this is intended or not, but if you stay until the second 0, for the auto shuttle you can just stay outside the area, and no patrols are gonna come close to the extraction point as far as I have experienced. I'm gonna continue experimenting with this anyways and maybe edit this if someone is interested. Probably there is another comment about this too. (I haven't tried it with Terminids) Thanks for the cool video!!!!!

Testing revealed no impact on detection ranges when using a flashlight or lasers, The code found in relation to this feature seems to be inactive. As you can flashlight enemies straight to the eyes from the same safe range as without it.

A few questions. Do plants and tall grass conceal you anymore that just being on open flat ground? And secondly, does your movement produce sound? like does standing still, running, or sprinting make you louder and easier to detect? For instance, can I walk up to a bot casually if it facing away from me? Or if I am prone and hiding from a patrol getting close, will trying to crawl away from them make it easier to detect me?

Plants don't conceal you at all movement while sprinting and walking produces sound and will alert enemies within 10 meters regardless of which way their vision cone is facing. Standing Still, moving while crouching & prone produces 0 noise.

I've not heard you comment about climbing. If you're walking/running along far enough to be not noticed but then start to climb (even in so much as taking one step up a rock) you'll hear a rock scuffing sound and every enemy in an area larger than normal detection suddenly becomes interested in your direction.

An easier way to stealth extract is to use the jump pack and find either one of the big rocks or containers that always spawn around extraction and go prone on top of them to wait out the timer. Works especially well against the bots in high difficulties or when going solo, when you know you`re gonna get overrun anyway.

There are not always high rocks so especially solo that’s betting a stratagem for a small convenience, if a teammate drops an extra just because they like the jump pack sure why not, but not worth bringing just for this.

I find it especially useful when the extraction timer is 4 minutes because of the map modifier, but i understand taking up one whole stratagem slot for slightly easier movement is not everyone`s cup of liber-tea.

I was using smoke in I think every clip in this video, I dabble with it but having frags for nests/fabricators is a big benefit, I now run smokes if I run Spear to compensate the loss. I've also spoke on smokes a few times as this is now a 3 part series with 2 commentaries!

another status ive seen is what i call "suppressed fire" where they don't know your EXCAT location, but know your in that direction so they send small burst fire and rush at that area. if you move away they might think your still at that location allowing you to get them all clumped up.

Not sure how it affects stealth gameplay but bot factories and bug holes will agro a player as well. Once agro is on a player the factory/nest will then produce units until agro is lost. Not sure if factories and nests can alert other enemies though, but I'm sure the enemies they spawn can spread that agro like fire.

devs has stated that Terminids can actually "smell" you, so the vision range is dependent on whether you are prone or crouching/standing. If u're crouching or standing, they will 'smell' you beyond their vision.

Well, Then the devs lied because they work exactly the same as automatons. Same vision range same cone same 10 meter minimum reaction. You can substitute the word hearing for smelling I suppose but even that’s not accurate as they don’t react to you crouching right up behind them at all

Soft alerted enemies definitely seem like unintended thing to be honest. I was trying to stealth extract today and then comes this aggroed hulk that beelined me through entire map or whatever and knew my exact location. But either way game crashed so it didn't matter.

Actually i dont think bot drops auto aggro based on whoever called them. They seem to inherit aggro from other mobs normally, its just that they tend to land near mobs that are aggroed to you.

Any tips with stealth against bugs? A lot of objectives require direct confrontation. I often use autocannon for holes, railcannon for endgame extract or quick help for rest of the team which migh be struggling with titan, Eagle airstrike for holes and cluster for extract or quick eradication of swarm. I do not use armor with scout perk, extra grenades are more usefull in my opinion both for holes and extract. Any tips for those? Often I struggle with solo hive destruction (poorly aimed throws, or fog making harder to see and shoot)

Usually Bugs are easier handled with direct confrontation but the tactic of baiting a breach with teammates off objective so you can push without fear of reinforcement is still very valid. I stealth extract out of bugs sometimes and sneak an objective here and there but for the most part I play them much more combatively, Just because shooting bugs is fun/easier then fighting bots straight up, while the way they clump on objectives is very hard to sneak through.

Break off and complete the objectives you built for, if your main team wants to get main done you should run a loadout that handles bases well heavy with anti fabricator options and work those. Your team will benefit from the bot drops you bait away from them doing main. If you plan to focus main then push main objectives when your team gets bot dropped to ensure you don't get caught with reinforcements on the objective and run a combative loadout.

The problem I had on the one time I did a stealth mission was that the bots never left the extraction zone.

Sometimes they get stuck and in overtime they won’t leave. If they are stuck normally we usually dump air support as the pelican lands and head in. There’s also the inconsistent method of getting the pelican to hover if you leave the 50meter extraction zone as he comes in, making him open fire on the enemy below until you reenter. During Overtime you can try the above, or otherwise throw smokes/stuns say a prayer and run in. Extraction was always optional after all.

Might be bugged but apparently when they keep shooting in the “soft alert” as you call it it’s supposed to be that they lose you but continue to shoot where they last saw you to create suppressing fire (this info is from the devs that they will do that and I have no idea if a bug where they follow you and shoot accurately exists and neither if the devs know or not)

I've now have had it happen multiple times (while extracting), that I was hidden behind some kind of object (container or a really big rock) and they would still spot me and randomly shot at that object, as if the it would not be there at all.

Other allies cannot see the pinged enemies but we communicate what our pings reveal!

What I hate is getting a trickle of enemies constantly beelining for your position, they don't know you're there, they just keep on coming no matter how you reposition. I notice this mostly when trying to do solo stealth on Terminids and a Stalker lair is present.

Stalkers know your position and alert other enemies to it that they pass by so that is likely what you are seeing

Any tips ips for helldive extraction Defense mission? I came up with a plan a long time ago that you would send 1 scout person to extract the civilians. while the others get loud at the edge and have bot dropships coming down. It worked for us before. Well went down to Mantes yesterday dropped on the edge. Had the one go to extract and we started getting the drop ships on us. well after a while the 1 extracting had 4 dropships come down no matter how many ships we had dropping on us.

@@EravinVT it was terrible. i am thinking might have to have everyone carry orbital lasers. the first person extracting can drop a laser that moght be able to take care of the first few drop ships then have someone else rotate in with another. I think Joel buffed it. We lost 3 in a row I rarely lose helldive missions.

I've noticed that enemies react differently to Orbital and Eagle stratagems too. Though I might need to test it more. Enemies seem to always notice when I throw an Orbital and run to where I threw it from, but are totally oblivious to Eagle calls from the same distance. It's weird.

is there an efficient way to force the AI to stop attacking you once you agro them or just run away as far as you can? even with scout armor and being very far from the enemy and taking cover behind an indestructible wall the enemies keep chasing me and it is so frustrating that there doesn't seem to be a reliable way to make them "pacify" them. Do I need to get out of those 30m detection range while running and wearing scout armor? I am a little confused on this

Breaking pursuit isn’t an exact science with how broken their Soft Alert status is currently, my best advice is to continually force what I would refer to as “detection checks” on the enemy, everytime you run through smoke or break LoS it seems to force a check on the enemy on if they can still locate you, but again sometimes they’ll just keep marching directly towards you firing 3 shot volleys due to a broken state in their detection system

Awesome video. Does smoke count as an environmental effect for the modifiers or is it calculated differently? I cant seem to find any reliable information on it's effects.

Smoke causes the enemy to instantly lose you when they come in contact with it, or otherwise continue pathing towards it as you pass through it. It’s basically hard cover to them that you can walk through. The effect is not immediate and more effective the more distance you’ve created before passing through the smoke. I cover this in my “Advanced” tips for stealth video 😁

I get that moving while standing makes noise, but does sprinting vs jogging vs standing affect distance they spot you? Also, completely anecdotal but I feel that Hunters are better at tracking and spotting you than other bugs. I swear they have sniffed me out despite quietly moving out of their path and remaining stationary and prone.

Hunters just move quicker which gives the impression they are better at it, but their vision is the exact same

You make no noise if you don’t move, you make the same noise sprinting or jogging, and no noise when crouching or prone while moving

@@EravinVT Yes, this is quality content. You vulgarize quite well a very shadowy and unclear part of the game that require a lot of experience to start noticing. I'm also a proponent of having at least one dude separated from/orbiting the team using stealth to do various missions on the map while the bigger squad run amok, despite the augmented patrol spawn. We've been testing this sort of playstyle for the past two weeks and it's been working very well for us, we casually farm & clean (8) to help our newcomers friends as well as for fun, and are just waiting for real reasons to go in (9). (more contribution for difficulty, a carrot, anything would be nice at this point)

The Grenade Distraction is a "bit" over hyped when you can almost always just, move around the patrol instead of forcing them off path by using a grenade. It does work though.

@Eravinttv So, I had a friend that was able to "lure" enemies using the auto cannon's end impact explosion without aggroing them to player location. Then also with larger maps mess around with aggroing all the longer range bugs he can see for players off in the distance to have a near bug free run. Instead of pathing, I would say "agro rating" and how they agro on players or choose Also, have you noticed how bugs will just stand and watch players especially when they on a terminal or that manned turret?

Ah you’re talking about using long ranged weapons and grenades to lure patrols, it’s not particularly difficult to just move around said patrols with how restricted their field of view is, but I am getting several questions related to it since a video went pretty popular on the subject, it’s neat but not all that beneficial on average I feel. I might still cover it in one of these just because it does infact work. And yeah I’ve seen patrols get stuck on the terminal before, I usually just give them their personal space and they move along eventually.

Hiding up high doesn't seem to work just tested it out in the trailblazer outfit and the bots instantly found me i was on a building so it may be different on a tall rock

They “can” spot you through destructible cover, Sometimes you luck out though because those destructible buildings are almost never something they want to path towards as it “probably” doesn’t path onto or off the landing pad. Sooo they don’t really look that direction typically 😅 I hide in the destructible scenery in the background of extract every once in awhile but still prefer being 50 out over the anxiety of staying so close to the enemy

Create distance, swerve behind card cover in the process, use smoke or run through smoke plants if available as well if possible for better results

Yep just create distance, it’s easier if your detection range is low due to night/scout armor. Also when it comes to bugs shooting all the fastest bugs chasing you can make losing the rest a lot easier

Can i also say that soft alert is the most annoying and despair enducing thing when you are having a good time stealthing. I hate nohing more when im laying there prone and eatching these bots run oast me like a decent distance away from me while blind firing towards an ally just to stop turn towards my direction and start fadt walking, pretending like the game software hasnt cheated and givdn them my exact location. I amways try to side crawl or back crawl hoping that the game engine will be fair for once and not actually see me since i havent done anythint to give myself away nor moved not attacked nor was evdn close to them plus im wearing scout armour, even further increasing my stealth.... But nope suddenly the bots vision becomes ultra triple 20/20 and they all become snipers and start converging on my previously completly unlnown to them location like they suddenly made a voice chat bot discord channel and are perfectly communicating my pin point position to every hulk ever...even the ones that werent in my game. Suddenly they will leave near by battles with a totally different team just to pop in and piss me off 😢😅 Thats when i get mad and throw a cluster or 500kg or orbital lazer theyr way while throwing orbital smoke behind me. Turn around and book it through the smoke while looking for nearest wall or cliff i can duck behind to my left and right and throwing more smoke grenades behind me while im at it lol.
