Odyssey is the perfume my grandmother always wore. She lived out in the country and bumblebees would follow her around like puppies when she wore it. I keep meaning to get a bottle.

When I was as young as 6 or 7, the Avon Lady would come to my house all dressed up with her classy case of goodies and sit at the kitchen table with my mom. I'm sure I flitted around, trying to score those little lipstick samples. Sweet Honesty was one of my 1st fragrances, but I was more of a Charlie girl. Mom always had Skin So Soft in the house. Fond memories!

Oh yes, the little lipstick samples. They came in a box. Our next door neighbour was the local Avon lady. Happy memories, rifling through her samples and devouring the catalogue trying to work out what to buy.

I always loved Sweet Honesty and can still remember the commercial jingle. It was aimed at older teens and young adults. Then I did wear Candid my freshman and sophomore years of college. After that I wore Far Away.... growing up in very rural northern Iowa (2 hours south of MPLS) we waited for the Avon Lady to come! It was so exciting. In high school my older sisters became the Avon Lady and oh my then we bought samples, they did all the driving and selling, I was too little, but ordered lipstick samples, green mascara and all sorts of things. What great scent memories you bring back! I'm already on the site and will probably order up some Sweet Honesty. Wonder if it will smell at all like the original formulation.

Imari is a really interesting, classic Avon scent from 1985 if you haven’t tried it. It’s super flowery, juicy and spicy. It makes me think of the an old time southern belle.

Odyssey's my favorite. I think Avon should add to their classics: Haiku. It's beautiful. It was introduced in 2001 and remains so popular. I think Avon's fragrances are a great value.

All the perfumes you described, I loved them,wore Charlie in my twenties. Remember Jontue ,Ombre Rose , Cachet smelled beautiful. I don't know if you had a Longs Drugstore, they carried all of these vintage perfumes . That drugstore closed years ago . Avon perfumes were and still are the best . 💕💕💕

It amuses me that scents from the 70’s to the 90’s would be considered “vintage”. I have a friend who back in the 70s would sprinkle Sweet Honesty bath powder on her mattress pad before putting clean sheets on. I tried it and it was a lovely clean smell when I snuggled down to sleep! Ok so I wonder why these truly much older fragrances are never mentioned: Cotillion, Sonnet, Occur, Roses. My favorite scent which came and went fast in the 80’s was Ariane. Everytime I find a fragrance I truly love, it disappears sadly. I was a very young Army wife in the early 80s when I sold Avon door to door. Horrible experience! But I did have a few steady customers who loved Odyssey. That was my biggest seller!

My mom used to buy Avon all the time in the 1970s and '80s...Timeless came out in 1974,and it was her favorite. I still buy it today from Avon's online store. I always get compliments when I wear it,it does have the vintage scent of a expensive perfume. It's a really nice powdery scent mix of bergamont,jasmine,and patchouli.

Because I'm such a girly girl & have a love for all things Vintage just like you. 😉 I just ordered online a Vintage Avon Sweet Honesty perfume in the birdbath bottle with the little Blue bird on the edge sipping water. It's new & never been opened before & with the box! I can't wait to get it! 🤣 I also ordered the California Perfume Co. That comes in the blue tin with flowers in it. It has such a romantic look about it. I'm obsessed 😳 I just also received a Bud Hastings book "Avon Collectibles Price & Guide Book". I've already checked what I want to try & find. I loved Avon since the 1960's. I wore Somewhere and To a Wild Rose, as well as Brocade, Topaze and Bird of Paradise in the 1970's. Bird of Paradise had such a nice bottle. I currently have a bottle of Far Away, which is definitely a perfume with excellent sillage and longevity. It outperforms many expensive scent, e.g. those by Chanal and Guerlain. I wished I could find Topaze again.

I had a bottle of Timeless ( the bottle was cut short of like a tall diamond with a gold cap) so gave it to a friend and she had a lot of boys asking her for dates whenever she wore it. I wore Odyssey in the 1980s and liked how clean and soap-like it smelled.

Jade, you will be so disappointed! I wore Sweet Honesty in high school as well. I wore Candid later. When I saw Avon re-release Sweet Honesty, I bought it immediately. 2019 SH doesn't smell half as good as 1976 SH. The chemical composition is different and doggone it! You get a hint of the scent but something (the key note) is missing.

I recently purchased Odyssey, and I must say I really enjoy wearing it! I initially bought it because it came out the same year I was born. I agree with you that it definitely has a "vacation" vibe to it. It's rather sunny smelling, kind of like laying on a beach somewhere and enjoying all the different smells wafting by (I can't quite put my finger on the exact scent, either, but it's a great summer fragrance!). Thank for your talking about the Vintage Miss Dior Perfume that came out in 1947. I found a used bottle of it on E-Bay and I ordered it. I was born in 1947 and that perfume will mean something for me. I purchased two other fragrances today and they are Intimate that was a signature scent of my Mom's so I can think of her when I get it as I don't remember the fragrance and the other perfume is Femme by Marcel (that is my Dad's name) Rochas and I already have a small perfume bottle of it and it smells so good, and I am getting the 3.4 oz. EDT of that soon. I have a pretty good collection of fragrances that I started to collect about three months ago, and wear the fragrances even at home which elevates my mood. I also purchased a few Avon fragrances lately, and I used to like Timeless and I have the body cream of that which I purchased a few years ago and it still smells good and I wear it sometimes. I like your vintage fragrances and your vintage other collection. I love thinking of my past life, and my daughter found the six seasons of DVD's of Upstairs, Downstairs that I used to watch with my parents in the 70's and it brings back memories when I started watching Season One lately.

These are fantastic fragrances and I still use them today. What I really miss though, are the beautiful, unique bottles they used to have for each fragrance. Now the bottles all look the same. Really loved the Odyssey bottle; it was tall and angled with a tall silver cap and a frosted bottle. Wish they would bring it back.

Timeless was my mother's signature fragrance. She passed away 15 years ago and I always have a bottle of Timeless on hand as a reminder of her. In fact, I am wearing Timeless right now! I don't think it smells like Chanel no 5 at all, but that could be how both smell on me. I love Chanel no 5 but I don't care for Timeless. I only wear it because it was my mother's favorite. I just ordered Sweet Honesty today. I've loved it since I was a teenager. I also wore Candid from about the age of 19 till a couple of years ago. I'm 59 yo for reference. I've never tried Night Magic nor Odyssey but now I am tempted to. IIRC, Timeless and Candid as well as Ariane and Foxfire were called ultra colognes back in the day.

I loved Sweet Honesty when I was 7 I got my first perfume. Then I had my first sleep over at 10 for my birthday and I got a bottle and my gf dropped the bottle on the floor and I'm now 45 and on a hot summer's day that room still smells like it. The first few days after it happened I couldn't sleep in the room because it was so overwhelming.

I wear Sweet Honesty from time to time and also have it in the roll on along with the Skin So Soft roll on and like them both but I prefer the Skin So Soft. Sweet Honesty reminds me a little bit of the Love's Baby Soft but the Sweet Honesty has a more musky smell to it.
