i studied medical science for 9 years so yea i was medical student before and basically studied about human zoology in depth so i confirm that rocking behavior that you mentioned about liquid in the ear,this liquid is called ampulla utricula and it is stato receptor which means the receptor which tells about the way we stand and about our body balance,and yes it also connected to that soothing simulation caused by rocking our bodies which give us comfort,And about the freezing behavior that is also true because i saw it last time when my grandfather passed away and i saw my mother was freezing while lying on bed and she was motionless and wasn't saying anything and took her sometime to recover from that position maybe like one hour. Also i know this comment gonna be long but what i want mention all those reserved behaviour i have seen or myself felt sometimes..i often shakes my leg while am standing not because of am in hurry but because its like my body always wants to stay in motion so its my legs are moving sometimes automatically i dont even know when they start moving which funny .. even when i sleep at night before drifting to sleep my one of leg keep moving in rocking way just like my mother used to rock me when i was kid so i thing it still had that effect on my mind and memory that my body sometimes itslef move in rocking way that helps me to sleep..as you mentioned that these pacifiers that soothes our body.This is much needed topic.. wonderful joe sir top notch information,i love the video so much!!👌

Thank you for your comments and always being interested in my videos but also sharing your observations. I am impressed with your knowledge. It's obvious this is a field that you enjoy. Yes it is remarkable How much of what we do each day is tethered to the inner ear which controls our balance, and so forth. I'm pleased that you validate, the things you learn about. I wish everyone would take the time to validate these behaviors as you noted with your mother's freeze behavior.

When I have C-PTSD & PTSD flashbacks. Interesting to have the science behind the comforting positions & behaviours. Makes sense. A long term fan sir. And The Behavior Panel. You're all doing an incredible job for helping some of us make sense of people. Very important for someone who's experienced an upbringing of psychological manipulation (gaslighting etc) and abuse, in the sense that watching body language videos helps to tune in and learn how to trust your own "read" of a situation / person. And it's fascinating to boot. 🙂

This is so interesting. I remember when I was younger and read about a woman experiencing sexual assualt and responded with freezing. I was wondering why and thinking it would be a better reaction to tell them no or something along those lines. But later I understood why that happened like you explained. It's so helpful to understand why people behave like they do. Thanks for teaching us!

Thanks I really enjoy learning from you. Right now I'm being enlightened by people such as yourself, here on KZbin. I'm being forced into a divorce from my wife of 8yrs and the worst part of it is being kind of dragged through it because of the love for my 8yo son, Clark, and the fact I don't have any place else to go because it happened mostly while I was in jail for marijuana form 2mos. and when I found out the first day I was out I had not back up plan and was very unexpected so I'm stuck living here for now with her and new boyfriend while we are still legally married and I didn't expect to lose any love for her either. It's the worst times of my 42 years on earth but I am learning about narcissism and abuse from it. With hell from people such as you, whom I had already watched but have yet to read your books.

I had the same impression, felt like everyone would greatly benefit from this read, especially when you described your encounter with the photographer on the beach. Thing is, most people these days just look but don't see.

There is something that confuses me. People display self-comforting behaviors frequently even when they are not stressed. When the context is unknown, how can someone truly detect whether there is really something that bothers a person
@joenavarrobehaviorexpert9 ай бұрын
There is usually a stimulus. Someone says something, someone enters the room, the topic of the conversation changes. Look for the stimulus before the behavior. Tell a child the trip to disney is cancelled and you will see their shoulders slump and chin come down or they will wring their hands.

I didn't know that the few times this has happened to me was called freezing. When it happens it's as if I almost go somewhere else and I hear loud rushing sounds. It's terrible and embarrassing, all I can think of doing is leaving and going home in complete silence.

Hi, why confusion sometimes leads to anxiety?
@joenavarrobehaviorexpert8 ай бұрын
If your confusion is leading to anxiety, then it's time to visit a medical person, a professional that can help you with that. There's nothing wrong with getting a little help.
