You can live at almost any level of cost that you want. You've just got to find the right place & then decide if that place works for you. At my age, I am conservative in the market. I don't stress about money because I don't throw it all around for useless things - yet I don't neglect myself in any way. I am surrounded by comfort, which doesn't require 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. A minimalist lifestyle makes life SO much easier to manage and so much more joyful due to the lack of stress.

What a great inspirational video. I’m 58 years old debt-free just retired in August. I’ve been prepping for this type of travel for years. I’m not planning on selling everything I own right now. I’m just going to downsize and get out of the buying frame of mine!!! I’m a prisoner to my stuff!!! I’m selling things constantly that I don’t use anymore cleaning out 33 years worth of collecting stuff!!! I’m going to keep my house as a safety net. I was thinking about renting it out while I was gone, but I think I’m just going to snowbird for a while. I’d love the area where I live, but I want to experience the world. Especially Southeast Asia, then maybe Portugal and Spain. If I decide to do what you’re doing I’ll probably come home liquidate the house in the rest of the contents. And continue to travel. Especially trying to find a place where I can slow down the travel and maybe even hire some kind of caretaker later in life. Right now, my health is doing great my dad’s 90 he’s still doing great. I’m definitely not banking on having the same health as my father but I sure hope so!!! Keep up the good job on the videos sure glad I found your channel !!! Have you ever stayed put in one spot that you really enjoy and found long-term rentals for a lot cheaper than your normal daily rentals?

Another excellent video. I completely agree with you. Everything is interconnected; if you solve one issue, you can address others. As you so eloquently explained in your video, stress about money, being debt-free, followed by having funds to invest, and the crucial role of health in retirement-everything is presented in such a well-sequenced and factual manner, and it’s all true. I wonder if your life story is attainable for everyone. For instance, for people living in the United States or Europe, essentially in wealthier countries, this might be achievable. However, it seems more challenging for those in poorer countries, where incomes are lower, and they don't benefit from favorable currency exchanges like the U.S. dollar. Could you perhaps elaborate more on this or create a video on the topic?

Another great video. Brokerages should be only used for a vehicle you can use to purchase an underlying unit/share in your preferred investment. It shouldn’t matter if the brokerage goes under, your stock ownership should be sound regardless if they go under. In Australia, investors have something called a HIN number. When you purchase stock for example you own the underlying stock not the broker, the purchase gets recorded with you HIN and you get an ownership certificate as such. Regarding cash in a brokerage account might be a different story, for me I never hold a lot of cash in brokerage accounts. Keep up the great work mate.

I remember having a conversation with a coworker years ago. He was lamenting of how many Americans live beyond their means with lots of debts. I pointed out to him that getting a mortgage to buy your house is also kinda living beyond your means. Most people in other countries save up until they have enough to buy a house with their own money rather than getting a home loan. That triggered a disagreeing response from him. To him a home mortgage is not living beyond your means. I guess most (if not all) Americans are so used to the idea of having a home mortgage that it no longer occurs to them that, technically at least, it's a form of living beyond your means. What about you? Do you think borrowing a huge mortgage is a kind of living beyond your means?

No. Because our economy is inflation based. Also, having a mortgage can be an asset when interest rate goes up.

@@RetireandGo sorry but that's not really true. For the vast majority of tax filers, the standard deduction is the way to go. “Generally, taxpayers whose total itemized deductions are less than the standard deduction (based on their filing status) will benefit from taking the standard deduction. However, if the taxpayer’s total itemized deductions are greater than their standard deduction, they must itemize,” says Kathy Pickering, chief tax officer at H&R Block... thus if you have itemized expenses that exceed $14000 as many property owners have the standard deduction would not be effective.
