I get super annoyed by the sound of krinkely wrappers. If someone next to me at thevstore is handling an item wrapped in noisy plastic it makes me wan to jump to the roof. Another symptom is that I used to enjoy doing crafts like adult coloring or playing piano. Now I am disinterested in those activities. I also often find it hard to swallow even tiny amounts of food. I need big gulps of water now to push down the food that seems to get stuck in my throat. I have other menopausal symptoms too many to list here. Seriously, we should all get some kund of medal or reward for putting up with menopause. 😅

O my goodness.Thank you so much for this video. I just talked to my doctor about feeling off. I felt foggy and sluggish. I was feeling almost everything you mentioned. The doctor said that it's probably from stress, and she kind of brushed it off. After the appointment, I got into the car, and my husband asked what I wanted to eat for dinner, and I just cried because I couldn't make any decisions. My husband calmed me down and told me that it was OK. I ended up just pointing to a restaurant that we had never been to before. I told my husband that I didn't want to make any more decisions. Right now, I am on a mental vacation. I don't know nothing. I don't want to know nothing and please don't ask me anything because I just don't know. My 48th birthday is next week. All I want for my birthday is a lot of blankets that I can live under until the world stops spinning😂 After watching this video I understand a lot more of what is going on. Your video really helped me a lot. I understand that this is "normal" and everything is OK. I really needed this video today. Thank you❤❤❤

About your last point (apathy), I think apathy creeps in because our brains have changed through the menopause process and our minds know, intuitively, that we are in the third stage of life, which strips away the trivial, unimportant things, and we become more grounded in our thoughts and do not want to waste energy on things we know we can’t change. Plus, we know we don’t have to impress anyone. We can just be free to be ourselves.

Perimenopause and Menopause can be so tough on mental health. It can be overwhelming and scary for some women. I recently heard that if you can’t do hormone replacement therapy, anti-depressants can help tremendously with hot flashes, night sweats, and anxiety. The sweet spot, as far as dosage, is 7.5 milligrams daily. Something about the anti-depressants helps the hippocampus or the hypothalamus, (can’t remember which one) that affects temperature regulation in the body. I’ve been doing tons of research on this stuff, because I can’t do hormone replacement therapy due to a genetic birth condition. (Some women take the anti-depressant even if they’re not depressed, just to help with the hot flashes and anxiety.)

@reachhonduras89555 ай бұрын
I am on Escitalopram, 7.5 mg daily. It’s an SSRI (Selective Serotonin Re-Uptake Inhibitor) that treats depression and general anxiety. I looked up Pristiq, and it’s slightly different. Here’s what it says: “Pristiq is an antidepressant belonging to a group of drugs called selective serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs).“ So, it looks like Pristiq may only target depression. It’s an SNRI. It’s possible to take an anti-anxiety, low dose, like Alprazolam, along with your anti-depressant (Pristiq). Or you could ask your doctor and see if you can switch to an SSRI, like Escitalopram. It also goes by the name Lexapro, I believe.

Thank you for your videos. They help show there is hope out there. My Dr has just put me on prozac to help control most of the symptoms you just mentioned. I hate the thought of relying on medication but at this point I'll try anything.

My anxiety has settled down at 60 except for medical anxiety. Am I the only one that has this??? It started with menopause when they bounced me from doctor to doctor. I was diagnosed with Hashimotos and that just piled on more fear. Now I don't trust doctors and avoid them as much as possible. If someone has figured out a solution for medical fear, please let me know.

Hi! At what age did you all start experiencing hot flashes if at all? Had your periods ceased? Thanks!
@Karikk725 ай бұрын
Late 40’s for me. Had a partial hysterectomy when I was 42. Told doctor about three years ago ( I am 52 now) that I was feeling off, hot flashes, tired etc. He tested my hormones and said nope yu are fine. Well clearly I am not. Three years later and hormones are at zero. That is bad!!! Started HRT and waiting for some relief. It will take longer for me to fill my “empty hormone bucket” since they were so depleted. I look forward to the day I feel good again.

I managed to go to my first yoga lesson last night wow since like before lockdown ( my anxiety got so bad i would have a panic attack afterwards. ) I was okay you know ? Do you get the feeling everyone's answer to menopause is to be 8 stone and fit as a fiddle? I am so rough again. I must be dying of something. 8 years in to peri menopause, anxiety Disorder all the way. I don't know what is anxiety and what is menopause anymore. I am a good girl and I drag myself into work for a 40hr week , cos you know I am on my own ,husband dead , I white knuckle it thru work daily feeling like poop 💩 that's the rub about it , there is NO HOPE. You give up.

I think the majority of us are not 115 pounds and fit as a fiddle although I am trying. I’m stuck at 137 pounds right now. I honestly don’t know how you work full time out in the wild. You’re stronger than you think. I have to work from home.

Typing this with tears in my eyes. The timing is uncanny. Perimenopause has taken my quality of life from me. Hot flashes and fatigue have ruined everything. I’m not a candidate for HRT and I’m just so sick in my heart. I don’t likely have that many years left and I often wonder if this is the best I get with what remains. Sure wish something could fix all this. 😢

Hugs! I can’t use hrt either. Diet, strength training, 2 liquid collagens, a trebiotic, viramin d, b12 and magnesium and as much sleep as I can get are what get me through feeling about 65 to 75%. It’s a big improvement and I’ll take it.

I was where you are a few years ago. It was devastating, but somehow I am now happier than I’ve ever been in my life. I made a lot of changes in my life and the hardest part was actually just taking the first step. I reached out to any and everyone for help. At that time, I had no idea it was menopause. I am now 2 years post. Unfortunately, I think you have to get through the hormonal fluctuations. I found the non hormonal drug, Veozah, for my hot flashes and it has been life changing. I renewed my relationship with God, did therapy, took up exercise and the amount of love I have for life is mind boggling. I literally thought I was dying for 5 years straight. I pray that this gives you hope. This is not your fault. Best wishes from a menopause survivor ❤

@KariAnneWright I am on bhrt, testosterone and progesterone. It helps a little. I have an appointment with a psychiatrist in about a week and I hope they understand that this anxiety isn't normal, these panic attacks last for hours and hours and the apathy is difficult. I do try to be greatful for everything I have and everyone I care about I am greatful for but I am in perimenopause so I am not even close to being done with menopause. I appreciate your videos because even my horomone Dr doesn't talk about symptoms other than weight gain and fatigue. What's strange is I didn't have a lack of estrogen, I had estrogen dominance. I don't fully understand what that means. The lack of estrogen is talked about but not the lack of testosterone like I experienced. It was almost 0 when I started treatment. This has to end eventually right?
@KariAnneWright4 ай бұрын
@@sarahboan8756 Estrogen dominance is common in perimenopause because progesterone is the first hormone to drop throwing off the balance between progesterone and estrogen making estrogen high. I’m sorry you’re struggling. Hrt can take some tweaking to get the dosage right. I also assume that the doctor has run some blood work at the very least to rule out other issues? Sending love.
@sarahboan87564 ай бұрын
@KariAnneWright thank you. Yes I've had everything tested. I'm hoping it's something easy to figure out. I'm due for another bloodwork panel and I am hoping they can see what's making me feel like this. God bless and ty for your videos.
