I'm still feeling crazy over this 86 Optimus toy but this'll no doubt have a domino affect on the rest of SS86 because the Decepticons who's gotten out sourced toys from Legacy, WFC, etc. will all have new update replacements to better match his scale.

The thing with scaling is most main g1 characters were the same size, Megatron, Starscream, and Soundwave were all the same height. So it made sense for them all to be voyagers for awhile.

If we’re paying leader class, it’s only reasonable to ask for accuracy. My ideal Megatron would be a version that turns into his classic gun mode, and comes with a small version of his Alt-mode that comes in two pieces so that the weird stock/brace of the gun wouldn’t get in the way of being put into the hands of figures.

I feel like something people are forgetting, Optimus is a commander because of his trailer and a butt tone of accessories. So yes he scales, but he's not over scaled for his price point, I feel like if Megatron is the true scale of a leader class, not a voyager with a lot of accessories (looking at you Primal) he will scale with the 86 Optimus.

I really hope that the Megatron they do is like the art that's been making its way around X/ Twitter of him in this giant cybertronian artillery cannon mode with Starscream operating it. I know it's not likely and that he'll probably end up being a tank again, but that's my wishful thinking and hope.

Having skipped out on mp44, er, newage, ms toys and every other 'definitive' optimus, im very excited to have a clean, bulky, toon accurate prime with a complicated transformation and good tolerances. I dont mind the earthrise but he looks kinda janky in a lot of poses

As far as scale goes, this prime looks to be about the same size as Galvatron, maybe a little smaller. To me, that seems to be right. I've always thought earthrise prime and Megatron are too small compared to the rest of the bots

The Siege Megatron mold was always too small in my opinion. I'm hoping the 86 Leader Megs is as big as Megatron should be. But I do not really want to buy a whole new collection to make this Optimus look right. I hope he's able to he fudged in with everything else and not look too big.

You know what bro, ive been looking at the sunbow productions scale chart for g1, and even comparing their scale in some scenes from the cartoon, and relatively, optimus is supposed to come up to about the top edge of grimlocks chest. So if anything this new optimus will be even more accurate in scale than he is earthrise optimus

I think that 86 Optimus could be the size of a leader, but it is called a Commander because of the trailer, or it could just be a bit smaller than 86 Ultra Magnus.

I’m assuming he’ll be as tall as 86 prime, and that he’ll be a new mold. That way Megatron’s robot mode will be cartoon accurate, while also hiding any tank bits from his alternate mode (so not having the back treads Earthrise and siege had). I’m assuming he’ll come with the Energon mace minimum… and the maybe the weapons he used in their final battle.

Yeah but they're 2 separate lines, one is on going and the other ended 2 or 3 years now. Yes, I know some figures from 86 over lapped in Kindgom and Legacy, like for example Cyclonus and Beachcomber and I use them as examples because they're panel lining and gribblings are whole lot less details that wfc . So it makes sense for the Studio series to make a new scaling ,I would say figures with painted windows are in this category of SS86 with the exception of non damaged Ironhide and Ratchet since they were on this boarder of both the lines, i feel Megatron will be the same height as SS86 Prime or just shorter than Grimlock and I feel like Magnus is slightly too tall.

I was trying a comparing of earthrise prime to Mdlx Rodimus prime which looks about the same difference with 86 and earthrise prime. I don’t think that 86 prime will be too big

I honestly have no idea what to expect from a LC 86 Megatron. Whatever Hasbro decides I don't see many being happy as I don't see how he can legally transfom into a realistic gun with ages 8 and up on the box. Leader class tank would be amazing, but that would not be 86 accurate and many again would be disappointed. One thing I can pretty guarantee despite what he transforms into is he's probably going to include a handheld variation for Corronation Starscream to wield so he can blast away those zombie pack autobots.

If Prime is Same size As kingdom Galvatron then He is Perfect size, Dinobots still Tower over Galvatron, so Prime will Scale fine. Megs will Be same Size as Prime and Galvatron. The Only thing Whack outta Scale was ss86 magnus

Ohhh, there's some mileage they're already gettin': the truck panels on the sides and the truck panel around front with the grille all look like they're reused from 86 Ultra Magnus. As for repaints, I can definitely see them doing "Leader class" repaints - the obligamatory Nemesis Prime & the equally obligamatory Shattered Glass Optimus Prime. Abundance? Not likely. Unlike SS86-29 Bumblebee, they *did NOT* describe SS86-31 Optimus Prime as an "A level release", meaning it ain't gonna be super readily available. And if distribution & store ordering processes are as abysmal as usual, then it really ain't gonna be easy to get. (I never saw Siege Jetfire in store, saw Earthrise Skylynx once and never again, got Kingdom Rodimus Prime on Amazon because I never saw him in store, and never saw Legacy Motormaster or Legacy Evolution Armada Optimus Prime in store.) Megs was already confirmed to be a tank for SS86. BUT!! After the Soundwave scandal (initially said to be a brand new mold to properly match up with Kingdom/Legacy Blaster, only for them to completely backtrack and just reissue the Netflix WFC-T Earthrise Soundwave with three Tape Minions instead) and still NO PICS of even so much as the prototype of an SS86 Megs...I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if they simply retooled the Siege or the crappy Earthrise and stuck in a ton of accessories to justify the bump in price to the Leader class price point. Siege Jetfire & Earthrise Skylynx were outliers, exceptions, because ever since the dawn of Siege and the original Studio Series, the classes have been about price points and not actual size. (Why you think Rodimus, Motormaster, Armada Optimus, and now SS86-31 G1 Optimus are all about Voyager to Leader sized?) Magnus don't count as just like the SS05/32/44 RotF/2007/DotM Optimus mold and SS15 2007 Ironhide, Magnus singlehandedly trashed the scale by being too big.

I don't think 86 Optimis necessarily changes anything. Grimlock scales differently from scene to scene in the cartoon. He usually becomes bigger in dinosaur mode, but the toy becomes smaller in dinosaur mode. The new Optimus will scale better with all pf the other figures with the exception of the Megatrons. I'm sure the next Megatron will scale perfectly.

Megaton will not transform into a gun. There is not a chance, or I’ll eat my hat! It’ll maybe, maaaaaaaybe a Japan exclusive, or even a UK or Europe exclusive… but if you think you’ll get a transforming Megatron as a gun, not happening. You will most lightly get a Galvatron instead or you will get a non-transforming megatron with a bunch of various accessories and battle damage swapping parts. It’s the only way.

I think his scale doesn’t really change anything. It does confirm 86 megatron will be as tall as prime. I think they did this mainly so the 86 prime repaints can be released without the trailer as leader class without having to include a bunch of accessories. Prime new scale does fix the scale problem he had with galvatron and helps with the new UM. I do believe his scale should still work with the dinobots. It does break scale with the commander Rodimus prime and motormaster which I personally am not to worried about.

I don't think the scale is that drastic. Looking at the pic of the side by side he is about a head taller than the Earthrise. So he "should" be close to the SS Bumblebee Movie Megatron. IF you put that fig next to any of the Dinobots they are still considerably bigger. Sludge is approx +1-1.5" taller than that oversized Megatron. I think it will be fine.

The thing is. 86 Prime is not a perfect g1 prime. He's a perfect toon accurate prime but if you wanted something that captured the modern g1 spirt then ER Prime is still the best with having a nice look, truck bits and a fun/simplistic transformation.

I'm really glad they made optimus bigger than his earthrise counterpart, while its a good figurei never liked how that version was the same size to inferno and grappler even though his suppose to be much taller than those 2. I really hope if we get megatron its not another tank that but his iconic gun, this really need to happen.
