5 Ways to Handle Angry Parents as a Teacher

Why did you become a teacher? Probably something to do with loving kids and impacting the future generation, right? Well, BONUS, becoming a teacher also means you get to become a professional data keeper, parent liaison, after school activity coordinator, behavior specialist… the list goes on! One of the things that I find many teachers are not prepared for is dealing with parents.
We know parents want the best for their kid, just like you do, but sometimes they can be really difficult to work with and give new teachers a lot of anxiety, especially when a parent is mad! In today’s video, we are talking about how to deal with-and defuse-an angry parent. I’ve got both proactive and reactive tips to help out my fellow teachers.

I just had an issue with a parent and actually the manager was not supportive, but knowing that many teachers go through similar experiences made me way better. what hurts is that you put a lot of effort and then not very appreciated

One thing that has always worked for me is starting the conversation (after listening to them) with this phrase “thank you for reaching out, this is a valid concern and while I try my best I don’t always see everything the second it happens a so your feedback on what you’re hearing helps” thisbinnesiatelybdiffises then and makes them feel heard and validated ..even if you know their child started it.

I had parents verbally attack me because their child lied during .t first week... I didn't answer her... My supervisor took over n defended me... The dad came n made threats later... System did nothing.

I would believe my kid over a teacher any day of the week. And depending on what you’re teaching them would either reinforce my belief in my child or would exonerate you. Just because you’re a teacher doesn’t mean jack shit, I wouldn’t believe anybody over my child unless they could prove it

Thank you for showing me what to look for when I go in this morning. I’m not a teacher, I am the parent but I’m about to reign hell fire at the school. I think I am justified, some wouldn’t and that’s fine. To do nothing about an 8th grade boy punching my 5’2 daughter in the arm and leave a blue bruise from one side to the other, that’s a problem. The school can choose to handle it, or I will go to the police department.

Anyone would think teachers are always the good guys the way your crapping on. Here's some shit that teachers do that make parents furious: Calling kids with learning difficulties stupid!!! Telling kids to lie to their parents!!! Telling kids not to tell their parents about things that happen at school!!! Teachers aren't always the good guys, tell it straight.

That's just a fraction of the shit I personally experienced when I was in school and I was the type of kid who always tried to do the right thing because the consequence of getting in trouble with the teacher was getting beat up by my father. As for my kids, I know they've copped a lot of shit from multiple teachers and they always say nothing happened. Try a reality check.

Placating a parent isn't the best idea when teachers are physically attacking and sexually assaulting students at alarming rates. Parents today just don't know how to properly handle situations. My grandpa did. My dad got in trouble one day for something he didn't do, through a principle that didn't bother checking things out before sending my dad home with a note saying he wasn't going to walk graduation for 8th grade and would have to repeat 8th grade. Grandpa heard my dad's story, didn't believe him. Called a couple students parents and explained the situation and talked to the kids who witnessed it. Grandpa went to the school, explained what happened and the principle wouldn't change his mind. Grandpa pulled out his pistol he took off an SS soldier he killed and jammed it in the principle's mouth and then they had a nice chat. The principle changed his mind. Moral of the story? Be sure to get the facts before you take action because some parents know how to handle things.

Five ways to handle angry parents listen to them and don’t go against their wishes and they won’t be mad as fuck at you. Don’t teach CRT, don’t teach white privilege, don’t teach bullshit like that and you probably won’t have any real big problems. Don’t be condescending to your students. Don’t teach them gender Theory. How about you teach them how to live in the real world teach him how to do taxes teach him how to pay for a house when they get a loan teach them how to do work properly instead of all the bullshit the teachers teach nowadays that’s how you avoid parents getting mad at you.

Mam today I made a mistake in copy correction. I teach maths. There was a division sum the answer should be 603 as quotient but the child has written 63 and missed 0 . It was my mistake I saw the statement for that word problem and sent a correction mark ✔️✔️ and the parent called me and scolded me for that mistake and told me that he should complain to my principal about this. I apologized sincerely for my mistake and he said it's fine. But I am feeling extremely guilty and scared about this. I am in my first year of teaching. Please mam suggest me what I can do about this...

Mam , I am from India. I teach in a private school. Yesterday I in anger canned a student who got bruises on his body. I admit that It was my mistake. Today the student's mom came and shouted me a lot. Now I feel guilty. There was a fight between her child and another student.other student was crying. I thought to punish the child as it seemed to me that he was kind of disrespectful towards me. Later I came to know that her child was sick. Now I am trapped in a bad situation.when I punished him I had no prior knowledge of his Ill health. I think I have committed a mistake and beaten the child.is there any suggestions for me? Do I have some emotional problems? Do i need rehabilitation? How should I handle this situation? Am getting into some legal issues? If God saves me what should I do to not to repeat such incidents in future?

I don’t agree with the idea that teachers deal with parents because it’s also the reverse with parents dealing with teachers. What needs to be understood is that we are working together. I would be careful with some of this because it may not work with every parent especially parents who work in the same field and employ the same tactics. I think that the most important points is definately communication but also developing a relationship with the parent. Some of this can be considered as manipulative with the intention to help draped over top them. This has a few instances that puts the parent in a negative view while trying to smile at them. I think take this video with a grain of salt.

Change the title of this "to how to patronize and manipulate parents!" MY tip.. take blame when it's appropriate. Stop blaming the students and parents when some teachers aggravate the situation and make mistakes too. You are not perfect because you are a teacher any more then a parent is because they are a parent. God bless the good teachers left out there!
