I’m changing careers at 41. I just did my first shadow day and logged 16hrs from start to finish on 6 procedures. My first OR experience (as a shadow) was a total knee replacement. It was amazing. I made a great friend/mentor in the CRNA I shadowed. Shout out to my friend that set it up for me, Marc you’re awesome man.

I start anesthesia school this June and I have two young kids (but a v supportive family). I have so much guilt about how much time away from them school will take and I’m glad you stated that you went into school with a baby - it makes me feel a lot better about learning through this program and still caring for my kids.

I am considering this but won’t be able to do it for a few years. (Got to get that GPA up and finish my BSN) It scares the hell out of me. During my RN schooling I was not the best student. Studied my butt off to get average scores. It is exciting and terrifying at the same time. My family thinks I can do it but I think I am crazy. Lol Thank you for the time you spent doing this!

I have been a LPN for three years and almost done with my RN program and went to the OR and loved it. I am so interested in CRNA. I’m a new grad respiratory therapist and am considering going back to nursing school to pursue CRNA. I knew after my first OR clinical rotation that Anesthesia was the most interesting thing I had seen in healthcare and wished I would had done nursing so I could pursue it. I do feel torn because I’m already almost 28 though and it would be a long road..
@jxhnnyboi740 Жыл бұрын
I am also an RT wanting to go back for CRNA! I found this interest through my ICU rotations and, like you, rotating through the OR. I think about my age too (24) but I'm still gonna pursue it because even if I become a CRNA in my 30s, I'm gonna be in my 30s anyways so why not be in my 30s doing something I love.

I never even considered being a CRNA because I didn’t think I was smart enough. This was so encouraging. I have been looking at the requirements to go to a CRNA school near me and it seems doable, not nearly as daunting as I used to think. I don’t have any icu experience right now except for a few times when I floated from the progressive care unit. I would be disappointed if I got the 2 years experience in the icu and ended up not getting in. 🫤
