i feel like a huge thing about tattoos that people forget is that it's supposed to make you happy. it doesn't matter if someone thinks it will or will not look good on you. have fun with it. i have a huge sunflower on my thigh and my (ex)boyfriend said i shouldn't get it since it was too big and thought it made me look too feminine(i'm a guy). so i didn't get it for a long time. i finally got it done when we broke up and you know what? it IS big and it DOES look feminine, but it makes me happy. i love sunflowers! they make me think of the sun and happiness and springtime! i don't care what others think of me if they see it, because it makes me smile and that should be enough
@positivevibesveda5 жыл бұрын
I want to get a sunflower too! It’s my grandmother’s favorite flower and I think they’re beautiful. Hopefully she’ll be able to appreciate it by the time I am old enough to get one, but if not, I want to honor her anyway. I think it’s cool you got your tat even though your boyfriend didn’t approve. My parents don’t like tattoos and although I want to please them, I don’t want to stop myself from being happy just because of their opinions. Thank you for sharing your story :)

For me I knew what I wanted (a tree of life) as my Celtic, Pagan background. I found a handful of style pictures with pieces and parts I liked (the roots in a traditional Celtic Knot, simple leaves) and showed them to my artist. We talked about what I liked, what he could do to make it his art piece, colors, and a million other things. He scribbled on the pics i gave him so he knew what pieces and parts...and in the end at the appointment I had a beautiful piece I love that looked nothing like the photos, but was exactly what I wanted. Having inspiration photos I don't think in it's self is bad...as long as it is a step to becoming yours and the artists own piece. I have several symbols that to mean what they mean can't really be changed but a good artist can make them beautiful. My Celtic motherhood symbol is shaded and colored in a way that makes it exactly what it is without being a cookie cutter of someone else's.

All my tattoos have a deeper meaning so when i learn something new or i want to memorize something i come up with that first. Then i do some research about the topic and find a symbol or an animal or a picture or whatever i like and i customize it the way i want to have my tattoo. Sometimes i combine two or more pictures with one or more meanings. Then i try to imagine the tattoo on different parts of my body and when i find a spot where it fits I‘m drawing my tattoo on my body. I just have to have the feeling that it fits perfectly. When its done i usually feel some sort of click that its perfect. This method is really time consuming and i dont come up with many tattoos in a short time but in the end i get a perfect tattoo so for me its worth spending so much time and energy because it‘s gonna be on my body forever

I have 4 tattoos and have used tips 1, 2, 3, and 4. My feet I picked because foot tattoos are my favorite, my wrist I picked for the meaning, my neck I picked for the style, and my forearm I picked for the artist. Maybe my next I'll pick a theme haha. Great video, awesome concept!
@_Myriad_7 жыл бұрын
Im really happy you said the bit about meaning not being 100% necessary because when I got my first tattoo, it was one that I had drawn and designed myself and decided to get it tattooed just because it looked nice and i was proud of my drawing, and lots of other people weren't happy when i told them that was all it was and it kind of made me feel bad. Now though having it on my body for a while I actually have created a meaning for it and have another 2 tattoos planned around a shared theme (i dont have them yet though...need money lol.) I feel like I might have created the meaning just to have something to tell people when they ask, and I am actually happy with the meaning and glad I have one, but even though this one does have a meaning now to me its still good to hear that for future tattooes that they dont absolutely have to have a meaning, so thank you for mentioning that :)

I always love watching your videos. Being someone that is a bit more heavily tattooed than the average person, I feel sometimes annoyed when people ask me these questions like "How do you pick your tattoos?" "How do you decide on a style?". These questions are very easily answered for those of us who are used to that thought process, but your videos teach me to have patience with people who aren't tattooed yet. Or people who just don't think the same way as I do. It's helped me have better answers to give people when they ask me these questions and I am so happy that someone like you is making these kinds of videos! It helps us all in the long run

It first tattoo was a loooong word. So I know a street artist specialized in writings. Very well known for his works on the walls of my city and he happened to start tattooing like a few months earlier I decided to get a tattoo. All his works were very nice and he was basically a beginner at that time and I always liked his style and the tattoos he was making at the time were sick knowing he was at the beginning of his career. So I went for it, I was excited, I had everything. The style, the meaning, the artist, I wanted it on the back of my shoulder on the left... All went all right, I was happy with the result. Now he's booked for like months and months if you want to get tattooed by him good luck.. My second tattoo was different and very disappointing bc i didn't check all this points, I just went whit the design, but I didn't check the artist... So I can really say that if you don't miss any of this key points you probably won't regret anything. But the most important is: choose your artist wisely the experience is not everything, not everybody has the talent that it takes to do everything so be sure that he has at least the talent for your design or the experience that it takes to make your design work along with his "style".

Quick tattoo story time: I got 4 tattoos in total (planning on more tho). My most recent one, is also the one I love the most. It was made by an apprentice, who had put out the design on facebook, and I got it just in time!(literally, an hour after I got it, another person asked if it was still up for sale). It's a mix of 2 different styles, it's sooo beautifully done, with perfect shading and coloring and straight lines, and one of the best parts of it? Regularly, it would've been $1000 dollars, but I got it for only $200 dollars, because the artist was an apprentice!

I get like that too, every time is like woah there but half an hour in and everything's tickety boo :) Sternum for me was a real killer, I have a full chest piece which ironically I hate! (Heart ruled the head)

If you're over 18 and have your own money to spend on the tattoo, then it's your choice, not theirs.

My parents aren't really into tattoos either. I know people will say it's your body but it's different depending on your cultural background and just your relationship with your parents. I asked and mentioned and brought up the idea of a tattoo ever since I could remember. They always said no but I feel like they weren't surprised when I was serious. I told them I wouldn't get it anywhere visible and it would be small. I talked about all the research I'd done about artists and ink and styles. The price thing still bothers them though. I have an appointment for my first tattoo and I'm surprised they haven't freaked out or at least my dad. I also made sure to show small "cute" tattoos so they wouldn't keep thinking about prison tats. I'm not getting a cute tattoo but it for sure is something with lines that aren't so bold.

I love World Of Warcraft in regards of game design and the game itself... I'm going to look like a total WoW addict someday I suppose. I just love fantasy things. I love mythical beasts such as dragons and phoenixes, fantasy weapons out of games and movies like Lord Of The Rings, I love some of the places in World Of Warcraft like such as the place you start with as a Night Elf.. I love Night Elves.. Straight up I've been wanting to get a phoenix on my back for years but I couldn't quiet figure out what it should look like, until I saw the pandaren phoenix mount in world of warcraft. I immediatedly fell in love with it and went "THAT IS TE ONE! MY LOVE!" so.. yeah that's a thing XD

I love your plugs, I use fake ones because I'm nervous about my earlobe snapping (exercise or metal shows). I want one on my neck, because I love to sing. One on my left clavical line, possibly a rune, or a few runes since I have some asatru in my ecclectic forming pagan path.... and i'd like a colorful sleeve on my left side and a skull/clock tattoo on my right, because death/mortality/not wasting time are very dear to my heart

Do you think it's fine if my first tattoo doesn't have a meaning? I was thinking of getting a spider just because I like spiders...
@Katrinberndt6 жыл бұрын
I think that’s meaning enough ^^

Katrin Berndt thank you!! I always hear of those people with deep deep meanings and thought maybe it wasn't enough...

Sometimes tattoos are just there to look good. Sometimes you can come up with a meaning a long time after you got the tattoo. Either way, as long as you are happy with it, it is completely fine.

I picked my tattoo and a week later got it and I still love it. It’s a blue jay feather for my grandpa who died from Brain Cancer. I’m only 16 my dad hated it and was kinda mad at me, but he’s barley in my life anyway. The tattoo is for me to please me not anyone else. My mom and step dad took me to get it. But I want MOREE...
