Thank You for the video. My choice of transferring the image is a proportion divider. It helps to establish free hand as you correct and check your sketch.

Outstanding video! I am a beginner just now learning the effects of shading and how to make a drawing "pop". The rabbit example was insightful. I have now learned to look at my subject in grey scale values. This has helped me with landscapes. I now look at any subject and break down the shapes and grey scales next. It helps to get contrast in my drawings and make them "pop"!

3:03 Well hard to find references of specific monsters on the internet....at least not the creatures I have in mind ;) However these are excellent tips. Thank you. PS.: at 7:25 I really think the second (2nd) sphere looks best. The third (3rd) looks too dark imho.

Hi Gemma, I've done a drawing and the stubble on the guy's chin is highlighted. I need to make white dots one 8B pencil. any ideas what I can use? Tried Conté, charcoal pencil... no luck.

Have a look at some of my recent graphite videos - I started using an electric eraser to add fine detail highlights back in to my drawings and it was a game changer for me.
@promoYES

@@GemmaChambersArt Yes I have one of those. Won’t erase solid 8B sadly. These need to be clear white dots. Anyway thanks for your prompt reply.

@promoYES what about gelly-roll pen? I normally only use them on colour pencil work but they are definitely bright white. They can be drawn over when dry to tone them down if needed

Personally, shading looks mushy and kind of lifeless. Without shading it has got the character of graphite pencils and they look more pleasing to eye - at least my eye.
