Good afternoon! I’m 56 years old and really appreciate this topic. Although I am heavily into eating well (in fact sipping my berry smoothie with alfalfa sprouts and oatmeal with hemp seed hearts now) I have yet to jump into exercise. I try very hard to get good sleep but last two years as a nurse have taken their toll. I DO get 7-9 hours sleep yet have not been great about exercise. I do adore going to the estheticians office for RF or microneedling … whatever I’m into that month. I write all this to let you know that you DO have some older women out here who listen to and love you to pieces. This topic is welcome.

Working out is hard. I recommend buying a stationary bike that you can use while watching tv. Or a tiny, mini trampoline for your living room. Exercise is scientifically proven to slow aging, improve skin, and lengthen your DNA telomeres (your life).

Yes, because aging sucks! Your body slowly breaks down and doesn’t work as well as it used to. Aging wouldn’t be so bad if the quality of life was still good. Should we stop criticizing older people for the way they look? Definitely! We can’t help but age. But should we try to fight it with extensive research? Hell yeah! So many diseases would be prevented if we can slow down (or even stop) aging.

Normalize getting and looking older it’s a part of life. Eat well, exercise, try not to stress, take care of yourself
@cv7958
@cv7958 2 жыл бұрын
I’m 30 but people assume I’m 18-20. Not one person in my entire life has guessed my age correctly. Of course, the goal isn’t to look 18-20. The goal is to be healthy 30. And inevitably, if you exercise, eat clean, use retinoids and sunscreen liberally (which I’ve done since my teens), you will end up looking younger. We want to age but I think most people don’t want to “look” aged because the vast majority of signs of aging is due to UV damage/less than stellar lifestyle choices (processed food, lack of sleep/exercise etc.). There will always be signs of aging (volume loss, gravity) but to look younger, realistically, means you are in health and taking care of yourself. It’s holistic. I know people who are healthy in that they eat clean and exercise routinely but they have a lot of sun damage from lack of sunscreen/sun avoidance. So you can be great in certain areas and not so great in other areas (skin health). Optimize your health in different facets and it’ll optimize your looks. I don’t mind getting older but if I see a lot of sun spots, hyperpigmentation I know I’m not taking care of my skin properly. Nothing wrong with addressing signs of aging when it’s typically indicative of something health wise.

I've seen ladies age 40+ with perfect wrinkle free skin, no visible pores. But they still look their age. The youthful look of a 18 year old. You can never get it back. Do all the surgeries and makeup you want. In just a split second I can see the difference. I guess most people can. It will be a strange world in the future where technologies and therapeutics will be able to truely reverse aging, or at least visually. Imagine a 50 year old looking like 18. It would have alot of consequences. Personally, started to only see my nasolabial folds at 37 and got a mature look. Think that is a sign of what's more to come.

Yeah, same. I swear, my skin hasn't really visibly changed over the last ten years or so (I'm 41) especially since I've now started taking care of my skin properly. But people do usually guess my age pretty correctly. I don't know what it is, either. If I compare myself directly to other women my age, my skin does look nicer (I've always lived very healthily, never smoked or sunbathed), but I still do kinda look my age 🤷🏻‍♀️

My incentive to quit smoking was permanent body hair removal, but I wasn't a candidate for laser therapy. So I continued smoking. Well now I'm quitting and for good, I'll be 45 in a couple months. And when I turn 46 I'll be a non smoker for over a year and my new reward is to repair the damage caused by smoking. I’m not advising you to have plastic surgery but most dermatologists would refer you to a plastic surgeon for an upper blepharoplasty if it’s impeding your eyesight or you want a true change for purely cosmetic reasons. There is a limit to skincare and this is one of them. Sunscreen and retinol will not lift heavy, drooping eyelids. A consultation with a physician will confirm this. It’s the equivalent of people hoping skincare can remedy heavy jowls on the lower face. It can’t. But you should still use a retinoid and sunscreen for all the other amazing benefits!
@Cicelyize
@Cicelyize 2 жыл бұрын
The good news for that is, it is easily corrected with a blepharoplasty of the upper eyelid which is a very straightforward and simple operation on the right hands. They just need to remove the bit of spare sagging skin.

@@fruitpunch5260 if you are a child who played Outdoors a lot or did not have sunscreen applied to you, not every child has that luxury and not every parent has that knowledge, then the damage has been done but often doesn't start to present itself until later in life. As a child we were at the beach at least once a year for several days and as I recall there was no sunscreen in use. I will be 30 in the next two months and I started noticing changes in my face this last year. I've never worried about it before but it seemed like all the changes came this year. I can't help but to check myself in the mirror everyday and see if I got a new wrinkle. I tried botox before for my 11s and to prevent wrinkles in my forehead and I hated it. I was thinking also about fillers or a facelift in the future. But I would love to learn to accept myself and embrace aging instead. I have more compassion for older women now because I know they probably went through the same thing I'm going through right now. Also, I don't have any children yet but I wouldn't want my children to see me worrying about aging. At the end, we are all going to get there.

SO much awesome content... I can't stop watching and the more I watch the more questions I have. Thank you for creating these videos. Maybe here are some questions you could address: 1. What are the roles of different hormones in skin, hair, and nails health? 2. Is there any known circadian rhythm association with skin/hair/nail health at the molecular and biochemical levels? Does this have an impact on shift worker disorder or on people with insomnia? 3. Can you talk about different hair textures and what to consider for their health? 4. Do you have any suggestions for skincare for hEDS (Hypermobile type Ehlers-Danlos syndrome) patients? Is thin skin really a thing? If so, how does that work? 5. For the people that buy or make homemade skincare products like lotions, can you provide information as to how to have a level of quality control? Are there any regulations for skincare products? 6. Are there any Laser hair removal long-term effects on the skin or tissue in general? 7. Skincare for puppy pet owners, we tend to have broken skin as they grow from all the scratching and nibbling (teething) followed by all the licking. How do you suggest we protect our skin barrier? Any sour-tasting lotions that are safe and nourishing for our skin? Sometimes there are skin allergies to pets, do you have any suggestions for that? Also, do you have any suggestions as to how to maintain or ensure that there’s no contamination of the skincare products when there’s a pet around? 8. How does retinol activate gene transcription and how does that result in "better skin"? Is it because retinol activates gene transcription that makes it a teratogen?
